Chapter 52
“Does anyone have paper and a pen?” I asked. “I just had a thought, but I need to write down the connections to see if it makes any sense.”
Mom went into the house and came back out with a notebook and pen. I used everyone’s initials to make the connections of which leaders are against me and which ones support me. Starting with my fated mates. C – dragon king – against me, D – Bear king against me, R – Alpha hole – against me. R – priestess supporter, V & D – Vampire king - ? Supporter, I – quiet alpha - ? Supporter.
I took a minute to look around at everyone and noticed that most of my family just realized the same thing as me.
“I was fated to a powerful heir from the species that are against other supernaturals. It was the Moon Goddess’s way of bringing us together. Maybe her way of making them see how much things need to change.”
I noticed a lot of confused faces, “think about it. Dad, Alpha, Beta, when you met your mates and still to this day, you would do anything for them. You put their lives and their needs in front of your own. Even if that means standing up to someone who has control over you. Even if they are stronger or more powerful.” I looked over at Creed. I didn’t need to be fated to the other heirs because they have beliefs like ours. They don’t care that I’m different. That I’m a hybrid, or mixed breed. They have become my friends regardless.”
I looked around, and I could tell that they were all thinking about my connection. “My mark has everything to do with rank and righting a wrong. For some reason, I’m the one the Moon Goddess chose to stop the hate wars between the supernatural species and protect the freedom of the innocent.
“Well, we already took care of one problem,” Creed smirked as he looked up at me.
“Yeah, but it’s more than that. Even if we replace the current leaders, who is going to lead the heirs, and teach them how to know which rogues to accept and which ones need to be denied. Who's going to keep the peace? What if the current packs and dens get too many members, and what if?”
“Bella stop,” Dad put his hand up to get my attention.
“You have been doing this your whole life. Maybe not directly, but you know how our pack works, and how to tell if a rogue needs help, or is a criminal. You have the mark kiddo. It means the Moon Goddess trusts you to see this through. Take one step at a time, and we will all be here to help you.”
I nodded, “I don’t mean to get overwhelmed, but it’s a lot. Even once everything is situated and we have everyone on the same page. Who is going to keep things running smooth between the species? We have a counsel for every species, but we all know they do whatever is best for their own species. They don’t care about others.”
Lila smirked, “Bella, you do know that most of us here are council members, right?”
I shrugged my shoulders, “Yeah, but I also know that I’m right.”
Lila chuckled, and shrugged, “more or less. Our main and most important job is to protect our species. I’m a witch, I need to do whatever it takes to make sure all the covens are protected and taken care of.”
I nodded, “I know, and the wolf counsel needs to do the same. Which brings me back to my last question. Who is going to look after everyone, and be the mediator between the species?”
Everyone turned and looked at me, and I could see several smirks among the crowd.
“Again kiddo, you’re the one with the mark,” my dad smiled at me.
“Lila, I know this is a little off-topic, but I am a witch, and my children are a part of me. Like you said, your main job is to protect all the witches. Do you think you could help us figure out another more personal situation with a certain little witch?” Aunt Violet said as she glanced at me and then Ezra.
Lila nodded, “I’ll try.”
“My son Ezra had a girlfriend at Moon Light Academy. She was a witch, and Bella’s roommate. He met his mate, and then this girl placed a love spell on him. I can’t determine yet if she did it to keep him, or if she is trying to hurt Bella. She also planned the vampire attack against Bella and one of her mates.”
“What’s her name, and what coven is she from?” Lila asked.
“Jacie Fields, we don’t know which coven she belongs to. She never told any of us, "Ezra said as he glanced over at Lila.
Lila didn’t say anything for a moment.
“Mom, do you know who she is?” Reese asked.
Lila nodded, “I do, but Jacie Fields doesn’t belong to a coven anymore. Her mother was killed by the Black Moon Pack before your team saved the others. Jacie was just a baby. They took her mother shortly after she was born, and she was left with her father. After he found out that they had killed her, he refused to stay with the coven. He blamed them and everyone else for not going in sooner. He insisted that if you started the battle a couple of weeks earlier, she would still be alive.”
I glanced over at my parents as everything was starting to make sense.
“I know the coven did everything they could to try to get him to understand there was nothing that any of us could have done to stop what happened to her. I even personally tried to talk to him to get him to at least let the baby stay in the coven, but he refused. He didn’t want anything to do with any of us.
“So, everything that she has done is personal against me. She knows my full story,” I shook my head and looked over at my mom.
“She knows my bloodline, and she wants revenge against me for what they did.”
Creed pulled me down into his lap and wrapped his arms around me as I ran my hand through my hair.
“Can we just deal with one problem at a time? I have a feeling there is going to be a lot more people that want to kill me soon.”
