Chapter 4 (Run)

We both stare at each other's eyes for a millisecond before I bow down and whisper sorry sir and walk right ahead.

Before I could process, my wrist is held and I turn around slowly

Act natural Lillian. NATURAL.

"Excuse me, sir...?"

"Umm... Do I know you?" He asks with a glimpse of hope in his eyes

"Um... You might have seen me working around. I am from the cleaning staff, sir." Remain calm.

"I swear your eyes... I um I'm sorry I must be crazy" The last part was almost a whisper before I could say anything he turns and walks away.

I feel guilty. I mean we just spent one night with each other but I still felt guilty for not telling him. I don't believe in love at first sight, I really don't. But I do believe in mutual attraction. That's what we had. A spark but right now the only thing in my mind is finding answers.

Now, where was I. Right, find Noe.

I kept walking until I found myself in the hall that the guard told me to go.

The hall was filled with People. All of them Seemed So cheerful, it was the opposite of what I was used to. People were laughing and Chatting, they were just happy ... I don't remember a time when My castle hallways were filled with happiness.

was I really that Cruel that no one dared to be happy? I was taught to show no weakness. To always demand respect. Then why do I feel I was wrong?

Just as my thoughts Consumed me, I see Noe in The Corner of the hallway. I walk towards her and tap her shoulder.

" Um... Miss Noe? " She turns around after Speaking to a guard

"Yes. Ah, Miss Sara! How are you? " I wish I could say

' I am in the darkest days of my life thanks for asking!' but instead I say

"I've been better "

" I totally understand. It must be So hard for you!" It really is

" Anyway, I have assigned you to clean The Royal Chambers because it's the cleanest place here so l taught you could use a break "

Are. You. kidding. Me? I need to be as far as Possible from prince Reece. Sooner or later he is bound to recognize me! And If he finds out, how can I trust him?

" Would it be possible if I could clean Somewhere else "

" I know it can be nerve-wracking but The Prince is So kind and caring. So, don't worry too much."

That's the least of My worries.

" Okay Um. . . good to know."

As I climb up the stairs, I notice just how large this castle is. It's at least 2 times bigger than mine. Granted, my kingdom is quite a small one but my castle is still quite big.

After climbing for a really long time I reached the top floor. There were about 4 rooms, each facing opposite to each other. I slowly open the first door and prince Reece is standing in just a towel and all I can see is his damp hair and his muscular back.

He faces me and I fluster. Hurriedly I close the door and put both my hands on my face. What the hell did I see! I mean it was quite a sight... Oh my god, I did not just think that. Before I realize the door in front of me is swung open.

"Ah... sorry I wasn't expecting anyone" This time he is fully clothed. I am a little disappointed actually. I wanted to see if the front looked as magnificent as the back.

"I should be apologizing, sir! I should have knocked on the door." I say nervously unable to get that image of my head.

"No, it's okay. Really. It wasn't your fault you did not know I was inside."

Just then I remember a similar incident that happened in my castle

2 years back

I was changing in my bedroom when I heard footsteps. I was about to see who dared interrupt me while I'm changing but then I heard voices.

"Augh I have to clean Miss black crowns chamber. You are so lucky you have the other room"

"Oh really?"

"You must be new. The princess is horrid! All she does is boss people around and stay inside the castle doing nothing!"

As soon as she said that I couldn't hold back anymore.

"Doing nothing? I see."

"Princess! I ... I was just joking!"

"Well here is a joke for you. Do you know what my favorite line in 'Alice in Wonderland' is?"

"I. No madam"

"'Off with her head' Although I can't take your head, I will surely take your job."

"Madam... Please! I am so sorry!" She pleads. But I give Mercy to No one.

"Get. Out"

I don't know why I remembered that day. But one thing I know for sure is that I wouldn't have been kind to her even if she had not told those nasty things about me. So why is he so kind?

"Um miss, are you still with me?"

"Sure, go ahead. "He says with a smile which shows his cute dimples might I add.

"Why are your kind to me? I am but a maid." He seemed quite confused and I totally understand why. Who would ask why someone is kind to them?

"I believe that everyone is equal. Just because I was born a royal and you were born a maid does not make me any better than you."

"I see... Um, can I clean the room now?"

"Yes yes. Go ahead." He stares at me for a second and passes by me. For a second there I thought that he recognized me.

I go inside his room and clean it as much as I can. I have never done this before so you can't blame me.

As I look through the room, I find a golden knife that looked oddly familiar. As I reach for the knife and take it out. I realize it's the same knife that was used to try to kill me.

I drop it and run.
