CHAPTER 92
CHAPTER 92
Leo's POV
"Leo, are you okay?" As soon as Koba's words reached my ears, my face turned toward him.
"Obviously. What do you think will happen to me? I'm fine," I replied. But honestly, I couldn’t even tell if I was fine or not.
I felt something empty inside me, a hollow that had been growing for the last three years. I had promised myself I would never meet these four brothers again, nor speak to them if I did.
And yet, after three years, here I was, meeting Koba again. At first, I tried to act cool and not recognize him. But by the end of today… well, see, we were together, and he had helped me so much.
Lost in thought, I glanced at Koba. He was scanning the surroundings like he was on guard. Of course he would be, we were in the middle of the jungle.
"What are you thinking?" I asked.
His eyes darted around before settling on me. "I think we should set a fire. That way, wild animals won’t come near us. But without fire, we can’t guarantee our safety. Animals could even break into our car. We don’t know what kinds of creatures are in this jungle. We should be careful."
What Koba said made sense. I had seen it on TV, when you’re in the jungle, you should always set a fire because wild animals are scared of it.
The problem was: how could we set a fire now? With all the rain, the trees were soaked, and we couldn’t find any dry wood. Setting a fire seemed impossible, and we didn’t have anything to cut wood with.
I was lost in thought when we heard a noise. Not exactly a scream, but something close to it. Both of our eyes turned toward the car.
"Sol? Andrew? Are you okay?" I called out loudly. A few seconds of silence passed.
"Yes, we’re okay! Don’t worry!" Sol’s voice answered from behind the car.
From her tone, I immediately understood what was happening. They were a couple, so of course, doing things like this was easy for them.
I know Sol. She’s the type who always touches Andrew, even if he says no. Whenever he protests, she doesn’t listen, she just keeps at it. And somehow, Andrew always ends up enjoying it too.
I’d seen it many times: when things escalate, Sol picks Andrew up in her arms and takes him to the bedroom. They were just like a newlywed couple in the honeymoon phase.
I didn’t know if Koba realized what was happening, but we could give them some space. I went and sat on a rock again. I felt okay, even though the cold air still sent shivers down my spine. At least my dry clothes were a little warm.
Koba remained standing near the cliff, staring at the sky. Dark. No stars, no moon, only blackness scattered above. Why was this happening all of a sudden? The question gnawed at me, but I had no answer. Why this sudden tsunami?
At least we were safe, that was the most important thing. I didn’t want to die. If I had to do something to survive, I obviously would. We were here, and now all we could do was wait for the rescue team.
I hoped a rescue team would come. It was their job to help us, but we couldn’t know when they would arrive. Who knew if they even knew we were here?
They might check the town and surrounding areas but never think to look at the mountain. We would have to signal them somehow, but that was a problem for later.
I waited there, and after about half an hour, Sol and Andrew finally came out. Andrew was walking strangely, like he was in pain, and Sol was smirking as if she had done something very clever. That only made Andrew angrier. I stood up from the rock as I saw them.
"Guys, I'm hungry. Should we eat first, then think about sleeping? And what about those wild animals?" I asked.
They all got a bit annoyed, but then Andrew took out a bag. There were two bags, but he picked the one with water bottles and canned food.
We didn’t have another choice, so we ate it, and it was surprisingly good. There were chips, biscuits, and even some cakes.
Eating the sweet things filled our stomachs quickly, and that’s exactly what happened. I was already full after finishing a whole cake.
I just drank some water and watched everyone else eat slowly.
"Andrew, are you okay? You don’t look good," I asked. His face was turning pale, and I had never seen him like this before. It was obvious something was wrong.
"I'm good. I’m just feeling very cold all of a sudden. If I rest, I’ll be fine."
I didn’t think he would be fine. I was sure he had caught a cold, and we didn’t even have any medicine. God, what was happening? Why would the Moon Goddess do this to us?
"Baby, are you okay? Let me check your temperature." Sol touched Andrew’s forehead. "Wait, you have a fever! A high fever! Come on, let’s go inside the car. You can’t stay outside, you need to rest at least," she said.
She took him inside the car. Obviously, they would sleep in the back seat, while Koba and I would have to manage the front. We all had to stick to our own seats.
It was going to be uncomfortable, but we didn’t have a choice. And now Andrew was sick, and we didn’t know what to do.
I saw Sol making a wet cloth and wiping his forehead continuously, trying to bring his fever down. Koba and I stood there silently, watching them.
Then I suddenly felt the need to answer nature’s call. It was so dark, how was I supposed to go? And Koba was the only one I could ask.
"Koba, do you want to go pee? Because I… I need to go."
