Chapter 271 No More, Honey

Chapter 271 No More, Honey

Charles couldn't help but feel an overwhelming urge to kiss Luna.

This was the first time in his life he wanted to initiate a kiss with a woman, and he was sure it was his heart fluttering.

Luna's attention was focused on the small splinter in Charles' finger. As she was almost done removing it, Charles' face moved closer.

In the shadows, Mike and the others couldn't bear to watch any longer.

Is this really the same Mr. Lee who used to call Ms. Brown?

Back then, Mr. Lee had said he never wanted to see Luna again.

But now he was leaning in to kiss her.

And in broad daylight in a parking lot.

How desperate is Mr. Lee?

"You need a band-aid on your palm. Wait for me; there's a pharmacy across the street."

Just as Charles' lips were less than two inches from Luna's cheek, she suddenly turned and walked toward the street.

As she walked, she told him to wait for her, completely unaware of Charles' previous little move.

She thought he had leaned in suddenly because he was worried she hadn't removed the splinter properly.

Charles froze in place, still in the position of wanting to kiss Luna.

Then he pretended to straighten his suit nonchalantly, crossed his arms, and looked around. Mike and the others immediately looked away, pretending they hadn't seen anything.

Charles' cheeks unknowingly turned red.

Luna returned in five minutes, and as he watched her quickly cross the street, panting as she reached him, a flame of emotion that had never been ignited for anyone else burned fiercely within Charles.

The light in Luna's eyes as she ran toward him was the vitality he had been missing for over twenty years.

It smoothed out his self-righteous edges and brought warmth.

He found a missing part of himself in Luna, and now he just wanted to hold on tight and never let go.

"Give me your hand."

Seeing him dazed, Luna directly took his hand, first disinfecting the wound with iodine before applying a colorful band-aid.

"I didn't notice when I bought it; I was in a hurry to get back and ended up with a cartoon one. Is that okay?"

Looking at the cartoon panda band-aid, Luna struggled to hold back her laughter.

"It's fine."

Charles shook his head.

His attention was entirely on Luna now; he didn't care what pattern the band-aid had.

As long as Luna put it on him, he liked any pattern.

"I still feel a bit uncomfortable here on the back of my hand... can you rub it for me?"

Charles pointed to the back of his hand, which was actually fine, but how could he pass up such a good opportunity for close engagement with Luna?

Luna held his hand and looked closely, "Did you sprain it carrying the heavy box? I know a bit about massage; I'll rub it for you when we get back."

Charles: "Okay, thank you."

Luna: "No need to be so polite. You paid for the succulents earlier; I haven't thanked you yet."

Charles: "So if I hadn't paid, you wouldn't help me?"

"What did you say? I'll give you a chance to say that again!"

Luna shook her fist in front of Charles, looking up at him.

Charles took the opportunity to hold her hand, leaning forward, his nose almost touching hers. His eyes rippled with a soft light that reached deep into Luna's eyes.

"I wouldn't dare, Honey."

Luna: "..."

Hearing Charles call her "Honey," Luna's first reaction was to run away.

Charles was acting strange, but she wasn't!

Seeing the extreme shock on Luna's face, Charles felt a mix of helplessness and a bit of defeat.

Just calling her "Honey" had scared her, and he realized that he still had a long way to go to make her fall in love with him.
