Chapter 270: The Young Couple Envy Others
The florist owner held his head, trying hard to remember. The name was on the tip of his tongue, but he just couldn't recall it.
Luna waited curiously for the owner to reveal the name, while Charles's face darkened.
He rarely showed up in public, so the owner couldn't possibly recognize him! Yet he couldn't help but feel nervous.
This was the guilt of having done something wrong.
"Like a movie star... named Yancy Lee."
The owner finally remembered and slapped his head.
"Yancy Lee? Does he look like him?"
Luna wasn't a fan of celebrities, but Yancy had been very popular in recent years, with posters in subways and malls. It was hard not to recognize him.
Luna scrutinized Charles carefully. There was indeed some resemblance, but Yancy had a more delicate style, while Charles was cold and resolute.
"Yes. The more I look, the more he looks like him." The owner nodded affirmatively.
Charles paid the money and muttered something to himself that only he could hear, "How could I possibly look like that kid?"
Hundreds of miles away, Yancy, who was about to go on stage to promote his new movie, sneezed hard.
Yancy fell silent. He began to wonder who was cursing him. A competitor?
Yancy would never have guessed that the one cursing him was his older cousin, Charles.
Back at the flower market, the owner called his wife to find a box to pack the succulents for Luna and Charles.
While working hard, the owner complained to his wife.
"Honey, look at that young couple. The husband has money and is eager to pay for the flowers! I don't even have a hundred bucks on me."
After hearing this, the owner's wife, who looked fierce and enthusiastic, raised her hand and knocked the owner's head.
"He obviously doesn't smoke, drink, or waste money. Unlike you, who used to hang out with your rowdy friends, drinking and having fun! If I didn't control you, you'd be begging on the streets now!
If I had not managed the money, we wouldn't have been able to buy a second house. Look at you. After you ran out of money, how many of those friends still contacted you? They avoid you like the plague! It's I who takes care of you every day! When you get old, are you going to be with them or with your wife and kids?
I guess I've been too nice to you lately, huh?"
The owner's wife mercilessly exposed the owner's shortcomings.
The owner's face turned red. "There are outsiders here, so don't bring up the past. I'll get back to work, okay?"
"Brother, it's good for women to manage money. I wish my wife would manage our money, but when I give her the card, she doesn't want it and thinks I'm a hassle. Different people, different fates!"
After Charles spoke, the owner and his wife felt a bit provoked, especially the owner, who looked at Charles as if to say, "Dude, you're a man too. Why aren't you helping out a fellow man?"
Luna was even more startled by Charles, getting goosebumps all over.
This man usually seemed so serious and proper, but suddenly, he made her doubt if the person she had known before was real.
Luna quickly walked ahead with a small box of succulents, almost running. She was afraid Charles might say something even more outrageous.
Charles followed behind with a large box, seeing her almost running towards the parking lot, he couldn't help but laugh.
So she could be scared, too.
He knew now. He had a way to tease her in the future!
At the parking lot, Charles told Luna to rest while he loaded the succulents into the trunk.
As he was loading, a pot of Echeveria 'Nine Tails' tilted out, and Charles reached out to steady it, only to get pricked by tiny thorns.
"Ouch!"
Charles didn't expect that he, who could navigate the business world, would be defeated by a small succulent. Seeing his thumb and index finger covered with tiny thorns, Charles felt embarrassed.
"Don't move, I'll help you pull them out. How did you cut your palm, too? Was the edge of the box too sharp?"
Luna naturally took Charles's hand and carefully pulled out the thorns from his fingertips.
Her gaze was focused, serious, and gentle, just four inches away from him. Her palm held his hand, and the warmth spread through his entire body.
Charles enjoyed the fluttering emotions Luna brought him at this moment and couldn't help but lean down, his lips approaching her cheek.
