Chapter 40. Similar to Tom and Jerry

Martin went silent all of a sudden. His expression of laughter abruptly became somber. He shook his head, his pupils round and finely formed.

"Not possible. How could that be true? Are you wed?"

He was staring at Sarah now. If he is not confident in Rayen. Therefore, the only method to get Martin to believe Sarah was to urge her to explain herself.

"Sar, please tell me this is not true."

"Sorry, Sis, but Brother Rayen was right when he said that. Our union is matrimonial."

Martin's heart seemed to stop beating instantly. His shoulders hung down, despair engulfing him. His best friend is the one who gets married to the lady he loves. Martin believes he has been duped.

How come you did not tell me? Why only now? Then, you and Brenda are still together, right? However, you are wed to Sarah? How are things going? I really need you to explain everything to me, Rayen." Martin spoke while controlling his rage.

situated at one of the South Jakarta region's five-star restaurants. Rayen and Sarah were asked to describe everything that transpired by Martin. Now that the couple was squarely in front of him, the painter-man wanted to know everything there was to know.

In front of Rayen and Sarah sat Martin. Martin feels that since the restaurant's décor has a very European feel to it, this is a good spot for them to chat. Martin made the decision to be in the VIP area so they would be alone.

"All right, who would like to explain first?" Martin talked as though he was questioning someone who was guilty.

All this time, Rayen had been idly rolling his eyes. He felt that Martin was too much. Honestly, he did not have to give his pal an explanation. This is a personal thing, right? Since he withheld their marriage from Martin, why does Martin believe he has been misled the most?

But Rayen spoke out, eager to get things done swiftly and without more discussion. "Which section would you like me to clarify?"

"Everything."

Rayen gave a weary sigh. "Sarah and I got married around four months ago. Our first date was blind. Following that, I began to develop a connection with her, and I ultimately made the decision to wed Sarah. She happens to reside in my grandfather's orphanage as well."

And I questioned Sarah about keeping this marriage a secret. She consented to this. Actually, I did not want Sarah to become a target for my competitors in business. Tin, you are aware of who I am referring to.

Rayen gave a detailed account of their relationship from the beginning to the end, up till their marriage. To keep Martin from asking too many more questions, Rayen tried to make his explanation as simple as possible.

"How about Brenda, then? Have you and that girl lost contact? You offered no defense at all for your wife when Brenda slapped Sarah the last time." Martin remarked, recalling that he had been the one to tend to Sarah's injuries at the time.

"I was still seeing Brenda back in the old days. However, it is no longer the case. I have ended our relationship.

Could she just get over it? Brenda is a saiko girl, as far as I am aware."

"Obviously not. However, since I do not want to harm Sarah, I do not give a damn. To be really honest, I do not feel anything for Brenda. You already know that, Martin."

"Ray, she is a brave girl."

"Yes, I am aware of that. He has not stopped contacting me as of yet."

Sarah had no idea about this one. Sarah was only aware that Rayen had broken up with her because she had urged her husband to do so.

"I have also given Sarah strict attention. "I do not think Brenda is still aware that I am married," Rayen reiterated.

"Are you certain?" Martin lowered his brow. His concern about Sarah's security grew.

"You should not be concerned. I am able to look after my wife well."

Martin laughed irritably. Yes, I am aware that she is your wife. Can not I be more concerned for my friend? Sarah is fine with it. Yes, that is correct. Sar?"

Sarah grinned broadly as she nodded.

"Yes."

"You are correct, I said that. There is nothing wrong with Sarah. Why do you have to worry about this?" Martin seems unwilling to back down. Naturally, Martin still finds it unbelievable and unfair that Sarah is now Rayen's wife.

"Tin, do I have to remind you once more that Sarah is my wife?" Rayen stated quite emphatically.

He went on, "Besides, I do not believe in men who are like my wife."

"Well? "What does Brother mean?"

Rayen stated bluntly, "Martin likes you and I will not let him steal you from me."

Yes, Sar. You definitely appeal to me. One may even say "love." However, you already are a part of Rayen, right? Martin responded right away to a pillow from Rayen, "Hmm, but if you are hurt by Rayen or bored with him, I will still dutifully wait for you, Sar."

"If you say it again, I will set fire to your gallery of paintings!"

Martin laughed a little in response to Rayen. Martin was well familiar with his best friend's personality. It is illegal for anyone to even come close to anything that belongs to Rayen, much less steal it from him. Martin is aware of that, yes. Martin was therefore left with little choice but to accept that his heart was broken.

"Sar, exercise caution around your hubby. Martin, trying to rile up Sarah, remarked, "He is quite possessive." Even though Martin has virtually little chance of being with Sarah, he is at least still trying.

Sarah laughed. As long as you stay within appropriate bounds, Martin, it is alright. I do not find it important."

"You, Ish. I hoped that would not bother you. Oh, you let me down." Martin's lips were pursed.

"You do not have to behave that pampered. Rayen made the joke without thinking, "You really want to attract Sarah's attention." It is true that Rayen's mouth likes to damage my insides.

"Shirk, what are you doing? Sarah does not matter, just like me. Keep in mind that your hypertension will worsen. Please stop bugging me."

Sarah grinned excitedly as she watched the two friends argue. With Martin, Sarah had witnessed Rayen's other side. Sarah sensed, quite subtly, that her spouse was a genuinely nice guy. It is simply that Rayen might not be able to unwind the way he did with Martin.

But there was nothing wrong with that for Sarah. He is confident that his relationship with his family will eventually be just as interesting as Rayen's bond with Martin.
