Chapter 60

Chapter 60

“Annie, where have you been?” Aura grabbed hold of her arm. She starts marching her towards her hotel suite. She even unlocked the suite with her own key it would seems.

“Let go of me.” Annie shook herself free. “I am not a child.” She snapped.

“I want to know where you were, Annie. What’s with this?” she grabbed the shirt. “This belongs to a man.” The woman keeps yelling.

Annie said nothing just slipped into the adjoining bedroom where she quickly changed her clothes. She slipped on a simple yet elegant blue dress. A quick make up before she slipped black high heels on. The only jewelry she wore was her wedding ring. She steps back into the room where Aura now stood looking on her cellphone.

“Annie, what is this?” she glares in her direction.

“What,”

“Who is this man with you?”

Annie stepped closer. She briefly looked at her and Aaron slipping into the hotel. What surprise her was his face wasn’t clear.

“Just a man who helped me.” She reached for her clutch purse.

“How did he help you, Annie?”

“I think someone took a shot at me on the beach.” She said matter of fact. Not her truth but something to keep Aura’s attention elsewhere. She wasn’t about to talk to anyone about Aaron. She will figure this mess out on her own and with his help.

“Are you serious?” Aura stood watching her intently. “Are you hurt?” she finally asked.

“No, I am fine. Are we going or what?” Annie asked pointedly. She starts walking towards the door.

Aaron enters the hotel’s adjoining restaurant. He briefly looked at his watch; aware he was slightly late. He wasn’t about to play Zac’s puppet. He walks towards the open bar.

“Whiskey neat,” he orders.

His hard cold eyes searched the restaurant curiously wondering who tried shooting him. Another memory flash suddenly burns into his mind, Switzerland. Annie was with him when their vehicle was forced from the road. She was badly hurt but that was also where he learned the painful truth that just like his mother, his wife sometimes suffered from hunger.

My mother…

My wife…

“Hello Aaron,” Doctor Grace Steven suddenly talks behind him.

He slowly turns around facing the woman who he remembers with clarity. He noticed she seemed tired and apparently unhappy. “Hello, where did you come from?” he asked sipping from the glass.

“I am staying on the island.” She said simply.

“Curious,” he said.

“I am here by invitation.” She said rather defensively.

“If you say so. I can just imagine what kind of invitation. You enjoy blurring the lines.” He said pointedly.

“Aaron, that’s in the past.” She said sounding hurtful.

“A snake sheds its skin not its personality.” He placed the glass down onto the counter.

“That’s unfair, Aaron.”

“Listen doctor, it’s your life. I am no longer part of it. Excuse me, as here comes one of your boytoys.” His tone just slightly nasty. He watches Zac approached with an openly displeased expression on his face.

“You are late, Aaron.” Zac said with a voice filled with satisfaction. His eyes mean looking between the two of them. I hope I am not interrupting anything.” His eyes narrowed.

Aaron just smirked before pushing past Zac.

“You should watch your attitude,” Zac grabbed hold of his arm.

“You are just a little man trying to wear big shoes, fool.” He now walked towards the table where the ‘buyers’ were waiting. He didn’t even attempt a greeting just sits down. His whole attitude rude.

“My name is Heinrich von Bergh.” The man said by way of an introduction. “It’s a pleasure finally meeting you.” The man extends his hand but Aaron simply watched him with a cold expression.

“I am simply making the connection. I take it Eric Klussen is working for you.” His eyes and voice cold.

“I of my trusted employees, yes.”

“I am curious, what’s with the meeting? You already stole my company.”

“Mister Casey, this isn’t personal. It’s business.” Heinrich said confidently.

“I am asking you again, what do you want from me?”

“Well, if you insist on going directly to business. My company currently controls the oil rig in the Atlantic Ocean. You only need to sign the final document.”

“Really, and what’s that?” Aaron can’t figure out what the hell he did but it definitely was serious.

The man reached for his briefcase where he removed a single sheet of paper. He slides the paper towards him. “I need your signature.” He said politely but his eyes were hard and cold.

Aaron reached for the paper. This has nothing to do with the company. It was the house he bought for his mother. The one place no one was supposed to know about. He slowly looked towards the man. “Who told you about this place?”

“We know who you are, Aaron Casey. It was clear you don’t realize who you are or where you really come from. I am using you to settle a debt with your grandfather.” Heinrich said with vindictive satisfaction.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Aaron’s voice snap like glass breaking.

“You really don’t know who you are?” The man truly looks pleased now.

“Sign the document.” He instructed.

“No,” Aaron said flatly.

“Leonardo Casey,” he said smirking.

Aaron has already moved hitting the man right in the face. The secondary man simply stood aside watching them. “You better talk and do it fast,” his fingers curling around Heinrich’s throat.

“Sign the document, and I will give you a clue.” His fingers curling around Aaron’s wrists forcing him to step back.

Aaron forcefully releases him the fury openly visible on his face. “I am not signing anything.”

“You are a fool, but it’s okay. It would seem I need to teach you a lesson.” Heinrich grabs the paper slipping it back into his briefcase. “You will hear from me soon.”

Jenny James and Mathew stood in the shadows waiting. The moment that Heinrich von Bergh step out of the hotel, waiting for his driver. They act fast, pushing the man hard. The moment he stumbles, Mathew kicked him behind his legs making him stumbled onto the ground. The moment he released the briefcase to steady himself, Jenny grabbed hold of it and slipped back into the shadows. They both cleverly avoided the camera now suddenly working again.

“What the fuck are you trying to do?” Heinrich was back in the hotel now confronting Aaron who stood at the bar. The man pushed him against the shoulder. He flinched from sensitivity where the bullet has grazed him.

“What do you want now?” Aaron pushed him back against the counter.

“Where is my briefcase?”

“How the hell should I know?”

“Don’t play stupid games with me. I want my briefcase, right now.” Heinrich start making a proper ruckus. The hotel manager suddenly makes his appearance.

“Hello, I am the owner and manager. What’s going on here?” Ricardo Diamond looks at both men waiting for an explanation.

“This bastard arranged for someone to attack me outside the hotel?’ Heinrich said furiously.

“Fuck you. I have done nothing of the sort.” Aaron turns walking away.
