Chapter 58

Chapter 58
Aaron stood on the hotel balcony with a drink in his hand. There was such a grim line around his mouth. Behind him he was a very busy Zac. The fact that the man was here with has him gritting his teeth. He knows just what kind of jackal he was. His so-called friend in reality the biggest fraud. He clawed his way from poverty; he can do it again.
His hand slipped into his pocket where his fingers curled around the bottle of pills. Since his brief shadowed meeting with that man who is his mirror image, his mind was a whirlpool of questions. The man told him to play the fool. His reward would be greater than what he desires, but all he wants is his family.
“Boss,” Zac call his attention. His whole attitude that of a man thinking he has won.
“What do you want?” he didn’t turn around.
“The buyer wants to meet tonight. We have dinner reservations.” He casually said.
“What if I don’t go?” Aaron slowly drinks from his glass. His eyes focused on the new arrivals by ferry. It was a bit of a distance but he has the odd notion to go down there.
“I would strongly suggest you attend this dinner.”
Aaron simply shrugged his shoulders putting the glass down on the balcony. He swiftly turns and left the hotel room.
Aura watched him enter the foyer purposefully walking out the front door. The next moment almost looks like the scene from a movie. She actually stood up to have a clear view. Annie was stepping out of the vehicle that just parked right in front of the entrance. The accident about to happen was in slow motion.
Aaron dropped his wallet. As he bends to pick it up, the door hit him hard against the head. His head instantly start throbbing with pain. As he straightened himself, he was then bodily pushed over by a heavy laptop bag.
“Bloody hell,” he cursed.
“Watch your language,” Annie snapped.
“I will talk bloody hell the way I feel.” Aaron roar rubbing the knot that started growing on his head. “Why the devil didn’t you watch where you were going?” his eyes start to focus, now looking at the woman. Instead of seeing her face, he only catches curls blowing in the wind. “Where the hell are you going?” he starts following her.
“Miss Annie Black?” the reporter suddenly made his appearance already snapping a few pictures of her.
Aaron instantly moved into the background. The name the reporter just blurred instant have his attention. What frustrates him now was the fact that he can’t catch her face. He watched her closely.
“Miss Annie, just a few words, please.” The guy asked with a charming smile.
“Not now please. I am tired. I will arrange with my assistant a time and place tomorrow.” She said smiling. “I promise to contact you first.”
Annie took his card before accepting the keys to her suite. She noticed Jenny James has already took her luggage waiting at the elevator. She briefly looked around for the publisher’s assistant. The woman was in a heated conversation with Aura. Shrugging her shoulders she enters the elevator. Just before the doors slide closed she was aware of being looked at. Her eyes searched until her eyes collide with Aaron’s, her husband. The expression of confusion and curiosity caught her off guard. She watched him move as the doors closed.
“Annie,” Aaron has finally managed to recognized her. As he reached the elevator he watches on which floor she was getting off.
“Aaron Casey?” Aura quickly approached him.
“Do I know you?” he watches her with a frown.
“Not yet,” the woman pulled her arm through his before walking towards the lounge. “Do you know Annie?” she questions once they both are seated.
“What do you want from me?” he questions clearly annoyed.
“It had appeared to me that you intended to follow my client. You can’t invade her privacy like that, sir.”
Aaron just looked at her before getting onto his feet. He now walked out of the hotel, feeling very annoyed.
The hotel suite was luxurious but this means nothing to her. The instinct was intense to run downstairs again. But she can’t. She moved to stood on her balcony just looking down. Her fingers curls around the iron railing.
“Miss Annie,” Jenny stood behind her.
“Yes,” she didn’t look around.
“Should I order room service?”
“I am not hungry.” Annie now leaned over the railing watching Aaron stepping from the hotel. Even from this distance she can see he was very annoyed. “Where are you going?” she whispered to herself. She keeps a close eye on him. He finally went to sit on the sand.
“Jenny, I want to go down to the beach.” Annie turned going back into the suite. “I need a hat.”
“I can go downstairs and buy it for you.”
“Thank you, Jenny.” She reached for her luggage quickly rummaging through the content. She slipped into shorts and a T-shirt. She then follows Jenny going down to the lobby. The moment she spotted Aura she quickly vanished behind a big plant.
“Where did that woman vanish now?” Aura looked around, clearly annoyed.
“Ricardo Diamond,” the hotel manager approached him.
Annie peeked around the big plant curious when she heard the voice. She nearly fainted as she briefly forgotten about Aura.
“What are you doing?” the woman now stood in front of her.
“I am hiding,” she said honestly. “I want a bit of privacy.” She admits.
“Fine but I want you back in an hour. We have an important dinner. You need to impress this investor. If everything goes well, we might turn this new book into a romantic movie. Go clear your head and don’t disappoint me.” Aura turn using her body as concealment allowing Annie to slipped out of the hotel.
“I really need to get away from these people,” Annie mumbles as she slipped the sandals from her feet. She now walked with purpose in the direction Aaron has taken earlier. “What the hell happened to us?”
