Chapter 86: The in-laws (Rafael's promise)
Chapter 86: The in-laws (Rafael's promise)
Rafael's POV
My wife was worried about whatever we've been doing after she realized that my car was in a park. "Love, can you let me be, hmm? There are things that I should face myself. Can you trust me?" I stated. I heard her long sigh. "I have to find the medicine box then," she says. I chuckled.
"We will be there in ten minutes, I promise," I remarked.
I waited for her answer for a few seconds. "I understand, love. Drive safely, okay?" Ella says.
"Yes, love. We'll see you later. Bye-bye."
My wife was the one who dropped the call. "We made a bet with her. If she failed to move you again even after you learned that she's alive and had your child, we'll destroy you ourselves," Ella's dad utters. I know what he means by destroying me.
"We're giving you the chance that you ask for. But the moment that you let your enemies hurt our daughter, you will pay a heavy price," Ella's mom asserts.
"That Ashley girl, make sure she won't cause any more harm to my granddaughter or even my great-grandson. If she does, make sure she'll experience ten times the pain she inflicted," Ella's grandma remarks. I look at Ella's dad.
"Our daughter will always be stubborn. If she said that you're the only one she wants, we knew she was serious. If you betray her again, I won't mind crippling you, making you mute and blind if that's the only way you'll stay with her," he says.
Their words aren't just a warning. It's a threat. They mean them. I don't mind. I already promised myself that Ellasandra is the only woman for me. I turned on the engine. "Thank you," I replied.
I drove the car and went back to the road. After ten minutes, we indeed arrive at my mansion. Ella's dad and I open the doors of the backseat. "Is this the house where she suffers?" Ella's grandma asks.
"No, Grandma. He already decided to sell that mansion."
My wife answers her grandma's question. She embraces them and kisses their cheeks. "Welcome to our abode," she says.
"Let me look at you, pumpkin," her grandma says. She lifts Ella's sleeves, skirt, collar, and even her hair. "Grandma, I'm okay! No need to panic for no reason," she says. She smiled and embraced Ella again.
"Dad, why are you staring at me like that?" Ella asks. He smiled lightly. "I'm just glad you look better," he says.
My wife grabs my arms and smiles. "I am. He pampered me too much for these past weeks. He really means what he promised about atoning for his mistakes," Ella says. She turns her head and looks at me. "Thank you," she says.
I frowned, confused. "Huh?" I utter. She just chuckles and drags me with her. "Let's get inside. The dinner is ready."
As we step inside, Mikael giggles and reaches for me. His nanny takes a step closer and hands my son to me in my arms. "Daddy," Mikael says. I notice the crumbs on his lips. "What did he eat?" I ask. Ella grins mischievously.
"Mrs. Midnight, tell me the truth," I ask.
She takes a step backwards, keeping some distance between us. My brow arches. "We just taste a little bit of the egg pie that you made," she says. She even uses her fingers to show me that little. "This big, daddy," Mikael says.
My son uses his hands to tell me the truth. "You! How could you betray mommy?!" My wife says, pouting.
Mikael laughs and wraps his hands around me. "Daddy will forgive us anyway. Right, Daddy?" he asks, acting cute. I pinch his cheeks and grin.
"No more egg pies for dessert. The two of you eat your shares," I joke.
"No, Daddy! It's super delicious. A little bit is not enough!" he exclaimed. My wife nods as well, negotiating. "Daddy is just joking, little one," I stated. Mikael giggles. "Thank you, Daddy!"
"Come on, let's go in the dining area," Ella says.
At the dining area, I pulled the chair for my wife. My son sits on my lap. "Let's eat, Dad, Mom, and Grandma," Ellasandra says.
They look at each other and force a smile. I grab a spoon and start putting different dishes on my plate. I place my other hand in my wife's palm. I taste each of the dishes and smile. "What do you want to eat first, love?" I ask. Ella smiled.
"Just put every dish as well. I'm so famished that I could eat an elephant," she jokes. I cracked up. After placing food on her plate, I look at my son. He's doing his best to eat on his own while using my spoon. It's heavy and too big for him. I grab his spoon and give it to him.
"Daddy, can you start teaching me how to cook? I want to cook something for Mommy," Mikael says. I smiled and grabbed his spoon. I scoop some meat and feed it to him.
"No problem," I answered. He smiled. I look at his two dimples. On my maternal side, dimples were one of our assets. Mom has two dimples, which Mikael inherited too.
I only have a deep dimple on my left cheek. "What's wrong, Rafael?" Ella asks. I turn my head and look at my wife. "I can't stop myself from noticing his dimples. It reminds me of my mom. My maternal side having dimples was one of our assets. I only have a single one like my maternal great-grandmother," I shared.
She looks at our son. "Hmm... he will grow up breaking hearts," she says. I covered our son's ears, who didn't care what was happening. "We have to work on that. I'll surely tell him how cowardly I was. It will be an example for him not to be like me. He needs to walk a better path than me."
My wife's eyebrow arches after she hears what I said. I already told that to myself. "I won't be ashamed to tell him my sins and mistakes in life. That way, he'll learn that there are things that he shouldn't do as a man and a person."
My wife pats my head. "Alright, if that's what you decided, my love," she says. Her family coughs. We both shifted our attention to the three of them. "I think the two of you forget something," Ella's mom says. She points her finger.
"Huh? What is it, Mom?"
