Chapter 84: He discovers a connection

Chapter 84: He discovers a connection
Rafael's POV
I frowned. The kiss that she asks for is gone at this moment. "What did you mean?" I ask. She grabs her phone and shows me a picture. "Plane tickets?" I utter.
She nods. "My whole family was already inside the plane, and they're all coming to..." She paused and brushed her nape. I can sense that my wife was worried. "It's okay. I'll pick them myself. I'm ready to take their wrath because of how I treated their gorgeous princess."
She held my face and smiled. "Don't worry. If they hurt you, come to me. I'll coax you ten million times!" Ella says. I laugh. I held her palm and kissed it.
"So... the call you received earlier was from them?" I ask. She lightly nodded.
"Yes. It's been a few weeks since Mikael and I came back. They told me that I don't have to do this, that we can lie to our son about his dad, but I... learned the truth," Ellasandra utters.
"The truth?"
She turned her face to me and gave me that softness in her gaze. "I learned that Ashley is not really in love with you, that she's in a relationship with your business rival that you hated the most. Also..."
She coughs and looks away. I grabbed her palm and held my hand. "What time will they arrive?" I ask. I choose to change our topic because I know what she's trying to say.
"They'll arrive around nine in the evening. They'll be staying in the hotel that you build for me while they're here," Ella explains. "The mansion has enough rooms for twenty people. Also, we have twelve servants. It's better for them to stay with us."
My wife looks at me, and then a smile forms on her lips. "Are you trying to win their hearts right away, hmm?" she teases. I cough and look in front of us. "Not really. I don't know what you're talking about," I denied.
She brushed my ear and planted a kiss on my cheek. "Don't worry. They're not here to break us apart." Her tone tells me that she's not lying.
"Even if they do, I won't let them. They have no choice but to listen to me. They know how obstinate I am. Plus, they don't want to lose their beautiful descendant," she added.
I laugh when she adds a wink after. I am still worried, but the mere fact that my wife was giving me the assurance I needed. I know I shouldn't be worried. She's here to back me up.
"Let's go home. I have to tell the servants to clean the rooms and change the sheets. I have to make sure that my in-laws will feel that they're more than welcome to live with us." I grab her seatbelt and put it on. After fastening my seatbelt, I drive the car out of the hospital's parking lot.
In the mansion, the maids followed my order. My wife helps them with what they should do. There will be two rooms that will be accommodated. The only grandparent that was left alive was her paternal grandma. Both of her parents are alive. She's an only child like me as well. As for me, I checked the pantry. I'll be cooking our dinner.
After lunch, my wife told the maids to go to the grocery store and fill our pantry. The others were cleaning the rooms. Our son was having his power nap after eating lunch. As for me, I'm in my office. My wife told me about her family, a brief introduction. I found myself browsing in Google to see what kind of results I'll be seeing.
The Winters family was a well-known family since the 1850s. They're prominent and well-loved even if they're still living a humble life at that time. They start doing business around the 1870s, and it's a food business, a small restaurant.
As years go by, they change ventures and slowly gain millions after World War One and manage to survive in World War Two. They became billionaires in the late 1980s. Now, the Winters Group is worth hundreds of billions. They have restaurant chains, but what surprises me is that it has three types.
People from poor, middle-class, and rich families can eat in their restaurants. That's why their buildings have three floors. They also own a shipping and delivery company, a hotel and resort, a law and construction firm, hardware, malls, a car dealership, investment and finance, cosmetics, food and beverage, and lastly, pharmaceuticals.
"They're really rich. My family's wealth is not even close to fifty percent of theirs. I wonder how her family will treat me," I whispered, browsing the pictures I found online.
They're also known for their charitable works. As I browse further, there are pictures that catch my attention. "Wait," I utter. I zoom it out, and my eyes dilate. "This is Ellasandra?" I blink while staring at her photo with her parents. I pulled my drawer and took off the things that covered the small box.
I opened it and grabbed the bracelet. I compared it to the one that my wife wears. The initials were the same! "She's that kid that saved me!" I stood up and ran upstairs. I opened our door and saw my wife combing her hair. "Love? Are you okay?" she asks, frowning.
I run to her and grab her hand. I lift her shirt and check her side. There's a scar on it. I didn't pay attention to this one because it wasn't that big and not dark as well. "How did you get this?" I ask.
I don't want to tell her the truth yet. "Oh, that? Does it bother you? I can see a clinic to remove that one," she says. I held both of her palms.
"I was asking, how did you get that?" I repeated. She was giving me a suspicious gaze before she spoke. "I was traveling in Quebec, Canada, with my whole family when I was 12. As I roamed around the neighborhood where my grandparents bought a house, I met a boy that was being bullied by the locals."
"Well, I act like a superhero and jump in. I throw stones at the two bullies and then grab that kid's hand. We ran as fast as we could. As we headed to our vacation house, we fell and..." She paused and touched her scar.
"I saw a branch stuck in the ground. I protected him, so... I was the one who got hurt. Wait, why are you asking this?"
