her trust in me

her trust in me
Violet’s P.O.V.

“I apologized for the rude behavior of Ms. Stanley earlier, Mrs. Whitemore. She is already fired by Ms. Hawthorne.” Veena, the executive secretary of Amber Hawthorne, apologized to me again.
I could feel sincerity in her words, but if I believed her just like this, Zade’s training would be nothing but a waste of both time and his efforts.
“Listen, Ms. Smith. I appreciate your efforts, and yes, you are a remarkable secretary. But I also have my own principles, Ms. Smith. Please convey my message to Ms. Hawthorne that she can find more suitable partners than me for this project.” I replied to her calmly, but I was losing my patience now.
“Please, Mrs. Whitemore. Please consider this partnership one more time. This is beneficial for both the companies.” She still pleaded, but it only made me clench the phone tightly.
“She cursed my unborn child, Ms. Smith. I am a mother before a businesswoman. I don’t know about the others, but I will never touch the money that is raised on my child’s life. Call me immature and all if you want to, but I am not interested in this partnership.” I hung up before she could say one more word to me.
“Don’t be so mad, Mom. It will give you wrinkles.” Natasha spoke to me innocently while wrinkling her nose.
“You brat. Come here.” I faked anger and immediately pulled her to me after grabbing her arm.
She giggled and almost pounced on me.
“Be careful, baby. Your sibling can get scared.” Lindsay, another nurse with Daisy, teased Natasha while entering the room.
I was still in bed when I got that call from Ms. Smith. Victoria had matters to take care of in the office. So, I had to take this call, and I was glad it was me, not Victoria.
“My brother will be the bravest boy, Lindsay.” Natasha chirped confidently, holding me by my neck, sitting on my lap cautiously, though.
“What if you have a sister instead of a brother?” I asked her teasingly but was curious to know her answer.
“Then I will protect her just like Mom protects me always.” She replied immediately, but my smile faltered a little.
I didn’t expect her to mention me in this way. She beamed while tightening her grip on my neck.
“Mom always protected me in the past.” She added with the same beaming smile, her trust in me evident in her voice.
“Yes, honey. Mom will always protect you.” I replied to her dotingly, but my voice choked because of the overwhelming emotions.
She kissed my cheek and rested her head on my shoulder.
“Your medicines, Mrs. Whitemore.” Lindsay raised a glass of water and a small tray with two tablets on it.
Natasha immediately slipped away from my embrace, leaving her warmth on my skin.
I took the glass and tablets from the tray and gulped them down with water in one go.
“If you want to rest for a bit, you can.” Lindsay told me while going toward the cabinet with all medical supplies.
“I have work to finish.” I told her and looked at Natasha, who was looking at me with her innocent puppy eyes.
“Okay. But I will take you for a walk after forty minutes.” She told me, and I nodded in agreement.
“Can I bring my bag too, Mom? I want to draw.” She asked while giving me the reason.
“Of course, honey. Go, bring your back. Let’s work together.” I patted the top of her head gently in the end.
She immediately chirped and got off the bed hurriedly. My daughter was a bundle of energy, and yes, it’s her laughter and her presence that always motivated me to go on.
I slowly rubbed my belly while watching her running out of the room.
My phone started ringing, getting my attention before Natasha could leave the room.
Lindsay walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.
They were all placed next door to my study. I wanted to go to study to work, but Nadia instructed me to stay in bed for two more days before trying to sit on the chair for a long time.
I leaned back while taking the call and put the phone on my ear, smiling faintly.
“How are you feeling now?” Dominic asked me in a low and caring voice.
“Better.” I replied calmly while leaning my upper back on the headrest.
“It’s almost your medicine time.” He reminded me, and I laughed. “You are just two minutes late, Dom. Lindsay fed me the medicine already.” I teased him, rubbing my belly with my free hand.
“It’s okay. That’s their job, and staying updated with your medication and meals is mine.” I shook my head while listening to his theory.
“You also received a call from Hawthorne Corporation, right?” I asked him calmly while closing my eyes.
He sighed instead of answering me.
“Is she interested in you?” I asked him teasingly.
“Does it matter?” he asked me bluntly, simply pissed by what I asked.
“I am married and a father of two kids. I love my wife with all my heart. Even a distance of five years couldn’t waive that love for her in my heart. I don’t care who is interested in me. I care about only three women – Violet-the love of my life; Natasha-my heartbeat; and my mother.” The warmth that spread in my chest made me smile widely.
We were separated for more than four years, and yet he never touched any other woman in those years. Surely, Sara appeared with him in tabloids, but apart from that professional interaction, there was nothing between them.
He doubted me and made me leave him, but he never let his love for me leave his heart.
That’s why we are together again. Even though we were divorced, he never touched any other woman, and this was enough to show that his love for me never wavered.
“Okay, hubby. I trust you, and I love you with all my heart.” I still teased him with a light chuckle.
“That’s it?” he asked me grimly. I stopped smiling and knitted my brows in confusion.
“Just hubby?” he added further in the same tone when I didn’t say anything.
“Then what do you want to hear, huh? Darling?” I still teased him, but I blushed, remembering the initial phase of our relationship.
At that time, I called him “Babe” during intimate times.
“Th…. At’s not that bad.” He mumbled, and I laughed this time.
“Okay. Let’s discuss it when you come back. For now, tell me what exactly the conversation was with whoever called from that family.” I asked him calmly.
“It was Mr. Aster Hawthorne, Amber’s grandfather, and somehow, he is related to my maternal grandfather.” He replied to me, and I knitted my brows tightly.
