Chapter 43


Seher's POV:
I was helping mom in the kitchen with a little bit of talk when suddenly I felt like throwing up. Since this morning I have been feeling low. I also throw up in the morning. I immediately ran towards the bathroom and threw up everything I ate.
"Careful beta," mom said, rocking my back. I washed my face when I was done and came out of the bathroom. Mom made me sit on the sofa and handed me a glass of water. "You remind me of my pregnancy days," she said, suddenly making me choke and I started coughing.
She narrowed her eyes on me , making me more confused. "Why are you staring at me... Mom?" I asked and her eyes widened more. "Could it be... Possible?" She asked with a big grin. "I... don't... know" I answered slowly looking down at my belly while my heartbeat increased.
'I did miss my periods this month but it can't be possible. Could it be?' I questioned myself but I was not sure. "I will make an appointment with the best gynecologist, you wait here" mom's voice brings me back from my trance.
"No mom, Wait," I said and she frowned. "What if I am not pregnant. I don't want to give false hope to anyone" I said and she cupped my cheeks. "Dear, we need to consult with the doctor. Don't assume things and if the results are positive then you can't imagine how much happiness you are going to give" she said and caressed my hair. "I will ask Ashwini for the best gynecologist in her hospital," she said and dialed Ashi MA's number.
Here we are waiting in the doctor's cabin. She took an appointment and dragged me here. There are so many things running through my mind. 'Am I ready for the baby? What if I am not expecting? And what if I am really pregnant?' My phone started ringing, breaking the chain of my thoughts.
It was Mayank calling me. I was about to pick it up but the nurse came and informed me it's my turn and the doctor is waiting for me. My phone stopped ringing. I thought to call back but she took me inside. Mom was with Ashi ma so I placed my things on the table with my phone and went inside.
The doctor did my check-up and asked me to wait in her cabin. She will call me when my reports come so I was waiting inside her cabin. I placed my hand on my belly and caressed it lovingly. How it feels to carry a baby in a womb. A bright smile stretched on my lips at the thought of becoming a mother.
Mom and Ashi ma came to me. "Done with the check-up?" Ashi ma asked and I nodded fidgeting with my fingers in nervousness "By the way Seher you know being a mother is not so easy" Ashi ma teased me while mom also joined her and my cheeks became dark red. They both started teasing me and I am getting scared more. They just love to tease me whenever they are together.
"What are you both doing? Here I am getting scared and you two are laughing at me. So mean?" I huffed and turned away. I heard them chuckling and it made me even more annoyed.
We were sitting there when the door opened forcefully and I almost jumped on my seat. The door opened revealing Mayank. Mayank? Why is he here? I looked at mom and Ashi ma and they both shook their heads in denial. I asked them not to tell anyone without any confirmation because I don't want to give them false hope.
"Are you alright? Where did you hurt? What the doctor said?" He was bombarded with questions checking me everywhere. "Mayank relaxes, I am fine. But what are you doing here?" I said and asked further. "I called you but a nurse picked the phone. She informed me that the doctor was checking you inside. I was so worried so I came here as soon as possible. But why are you here? Why was the doctor checking you? Did you get hurt somewhere?" He answered me and started his interrogation.
"Mayank, I am fine. Don't worry" I said and he realised a breath. "The reports are here" the doctor came along with my reports while my heart skipped a beat. I held Mayank's hand tightly. "What happened? What's with these reports?" He asked me slowly "I came here for my pregnancy check-up" I whispered looking at him and his eyes lit up hearing my answer while a smile played on his lips.
Before Ashi read the reports, Mayank beat her, and took the reports from the doctor who did my check-up.

Mayank's POV:
The meeting was about to start and I forgot to bring the file with me. I told my PA to go home and bring that file. I thought to call Seher and tell her to give that file to my PA.
I called her twice but she was not picking up. I tried the last attempt and she picked it up. "Hello" it's not her voice but someone else. "Who are you? And where is Seher?" I asked.
"She is gone for a check-up" the girl answered and that is enough to scare the shit out of me. "What? Which hospital?" I almost shouted. "In xyz hospital" she answered. I hung up the call and ran out of my office.
What happened to her? Why is she in the hospital? I just hope she is alright. I sat in my car and drove to the hospital. This traffic is giving me a tough time. As soon as I want to reach her but this traffic is making it more difficult for me.
Well without breaking the traffic rules I reached the hospital in no less time. I went straight to Ashwini aunt's cabin as she works in this hospital. A nurse told me that they are in another doctor's cabin so I went there.
She almost jumped with the sudden loud voice of the door. I walked inside the cabin and checked her everywhere and relieved a sigh when I didn't find any injury. I asked her why she's here when the doctor came with her reports.
I asked her what these reports were and her answer made me the happiest person ever. She held my hand tightly. I placed my hand on hers and assured her with a smile. Ashwini aunty was about to take the reports but I was fast enough to grab them before. Of course, it's my right to know first.
My smile disappeared when I read reports. She is not pregnant. "What's in the report, Mayank?" Mom asked and I looked at Seher. Her eyes held so many emotions and one of them was saying that she was expecting a positive answer.
"She's not pregnant, mom. You are all mistaken" I answered and I saw Seher lost her face color. Her eyes get watery. Ashwini aunty took the reports from me and checked them. I went to Seher and cupped her cheeks. "Hey! it's okay, please don't cry" I said softly wiping her tears.
She nodded her head with a small smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Mrs. Khurana you are not pregnant but you are healthy enough to plan a baby," said the doctor who checked her.
We came out of the hospital. "Mom let's go, I will drop you both home," I said and they sat in my car and I occupied the driving seat and drove to the mansion.
I dropped them home and took my file which I left and turned to go but I stopped when she entered the room looking all gloomy. She walked towards me and hugged me wrapping her arms around my waist. I also hugged her securely. I know she needs me now to comfort her.
"Don't be upset, Seher. It was just a false alarm" I said, caressing her hair. "I thought I was really pregnant" she mumbled on my chest, hiding her face.
