Chapter 44 For Your Sake?
"Let's get acquainted. He's my friend. He's a very good person," Lilly said, hugging Ethan tighter. Simo had experience in this field, and she didn't want to see her friends quarrel. "Maybe he drank too much. Simo, for Karl and me, let's forget about it, okay?"
"For you?" Ethan's lips curled coldly, and he chuckled. He stuck his bloody hand into his pants pocket, pulled out his cell phone, and dialed a number.
The phone rang only twice before someone answered. A strong, authoritative voice, with a hint of surprise, came over the microphone: "Ah, you're willing to come back..."
"Impossible," Ethan refused unceremoniously. "Ethan, even though I don't agree to take over, I have the right to call, right?"
"Of course." The man on the other end of the line answered immediately.
"Bar," Ethan said a few words and then hung up.
The conversation lasted no more than a minute, and the words combined didn't add up to any particular meaning, confusing everyone present.
But soon Simo's phone rang.
Simo glanced at the caller ID and looked a little serious. He walked a little way away, and then Simo answered.
After a while, Simo hung up, waved to the security guard, and "invited" the scoundrel and his friends out of the bar.
Karl witnessed this series of changes: his contacts flashed in the dim light, and the eyes hidden behind them dimmed slightly.
Lilly had a vague feeling that something was wrong, but he couldn't figure out why. Seeing the man Ethan Shawn Romano had nearly beaten up, along with his brothers, thrown out of the bar, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
At that moment, Simo returned, looked at Ethan, then at Lilly, and asked again, "You, you really know him?" He wanted to ask Lilly if she knew Ethan's past.
Lilly was confused by this question and only sensed the unusual seriousness in Simo's expression. Fearing he would attack later, she subconsciously stopped in front of Ethan and continued nodding, confirming, "I really know him."
Ethan's face turned cold, he pushed Lilly away, and sternly said, "Don't touch me."
"I'll touch you! If you don't accept it, beat me up!" Lilly shouted back angrily, hugging him tightly around the waist and not letting go. Just kidding, in his current state, what if he relaxes and starts fighting someone again!
"You..." Ethan's heart sank slightly in surprise. He didn't understand. Didn't she look like she wanted to keep her distance from him when they met again after college? Why wasn't she keeping her distance from him now?
"Are you a fairy..." Ethan's head was a little clouded by the alcohol, and he couldn't help but whisper. If she wasn't a fairy, why was it so hard to guess, and how could he allow his heart to beat as hard as hers...
Lilly was very close to him and clearly heard everything he said. Hearing this nonsense, she laughed lightly: "Really? I told you were drunk. I didn't know you were such a bad drinker. You hit people and talk nonsense when you're drunk. I really admire you."
"I haven't been drinking..." Ethan was about to protest, but he caught a glimpse of Karl standing to the side, watching them. Suddenly, he changed his mind, put his arm around Lilly's waist, pulled her close, leaned close to her ear, and, exhaling the scent of alcohol, said, "I want to sleep."
Would Ethan really talk so sweetly when he was drunk?
Lilly felt how sweet she felt, and blushed from the closeness. She involuntarily tugged his hand, but couldn't help but say in a subdued voice, "Why sleep? You're so drunk you can't even drive..."
Experienced people like Simo and Karl saw through his tricks at first glance. They intuitively understood that if a man like Ethan hugged Lilly and held her close, it would show how much Lilly meant to him.
As for Lilly, they'd been together for a year, and they'd never seen her pamper anyone so much. Although Lilly was lively and sociable, she didn't easily approach the opposite sex. Only Karl could be more intimate with her, because she considered him just a good friend.
Even Simo and Lilly maintained a certain distance.
But now she was in Ethan's arms, and it felt so natural, not at all repulsive, as if she'd been born to be with him.
So Simo said almost nothing, but looked at Karl with some regret.
It was obvious that Lilly's heart had been captured by Ethan, a man who truly confirmed the saying, "Flowers bloom willingly, but water is merciless."
At that moment, Karl suddenly approached, stared at Lilly's neck, and whispered, "Darling, what did he do..." "Ah, those spots on your neck?"
Lilly was shocked. After leaving Ethan's office, she first applied a generous amount of powder to her neck, almost completely covering up the blue and purple spots, before daring to go out to Karl. But she didn't expect...That Karl, always observant, would still notice them.
But how could she tell the truth? Ethan was drunk. If Karl started fighting, Ethan would definitely get hurt.
Lilly didn't want him to get hurt, so she quickly shook her head, denying: "No, absolutely not!"
As soon as she said those words, the embrace tightened. Lilly tried to break free for a moment, but couldn't, so she had to look at Karl.
"Karl, Karl, maybe you could help me get behind the wheel, and we'll drive him back... Ah!" Before Lilly could finish her sentence, Ethan grabbed her tightly by the waist and shouted, "Relax! Grab hold of me, stop playing the cheater!"
Ethan ignored him, holding his hands tightly and continuing to rub his head against Lilly's neck.
Lilly's entire body went numb, and she tried to break free from his embrace, but imagination is beautiful, and reality is cruel, and the revolution cannot succeed.
"Come on, dear, send him back right now," Karl said softly, holding her hand.
She nodded and tried to move, but Ethan held her too tightly, and she couldn't move at all.
Karl was about to go over and help, but his cell phone suddenly rang, so he had to give in and answer his friend's call first.
"What happened?" Lilly asked worriedly, seeing Karl's confused expression after the call ended.
Karl frowned and replied, "A friend had a heart attack, I need...Go now..."
Lilly hurriedly said, "Then go quickly, it's a matter of life and death!"
"Then you..." Karl glanced disapprovingly at Ethan's arm around her waist.
"Don't worry. I'll find a way to solve this. Go quickly. We can't waste a second on a heart attack. Hurry!" Lilly waved, encouraging him.
She was right. We can't waste a second risking a heart attack. Karl needed to say hello to Simo and the others, so he turned and hurried out of the bar.
