Chapter 97 Heavy Rain
Chapter 97 Heavy Rain
JESSICA
"Are you okay?"
I didn't respond but continued staring at the luxurious building in front of us.
"Babe?"
I looked at him. He raised his brows.
Michael and I are in his car parked right in front of his parents' mansion. We just pulled up and are getting ready to go in.
I am literally here to meet his family for the first time and have dinner with them which is supposed to be a good and honorable thing. You know, my boyfriend is about to introduce me to his parents and the rest of his family.
It shows how much I mean to him.
I am happy about that.
But I am terribly nervous.
"Jessica,"
"Hmm?"
"What's wrong?" he asked.
I shook my head slightly, returning my gaze to the building filled with lights that is igniting the luxurious compound.
I glued my hands to the pink box on my lap. It is a box of cupcakes from my mom.
She never lets me go visit people empty-handed.
"Are you nervous?"
I looked at him, biting my lips unconsciously as I nodded.
He chuckled slightly, adding to my nervousness.
"Don't be. They are amazing people. My dad is cool but my mom is the coolest."
I smiled slightly.
"And my twin sisters are the sweetest. They love whatever I love so you don't have to worry. They are going to love you."
I smiled again, lowering my gaze.
God, I am still nervous.
"Shall we go in?"
I looked at him.
He is smiling at me.
I nodded, smiling as well.
"Alright," he got out of the car and I watched him walk around the car, approaching my door.
He opened it and reached for my hand.
I placed my hand on his and got out of the car.
"Thank you,"
"Anytime, babe," he said, closing the door.
"Let's go,"
I nodded, letting out a bracing breath as he took my hand and led us in.
Okay, I am decently dressed in my green A-line gown that stopped below my knees, short sleeves, and off-the-shoulder.
My hair is left to fall and I have a little makeup on.
Everything is thanks to my mom.
I can't doll myself up to save my life.
My mom has to help me. She always does.
The door opened, revealing a middle-aged maid dressed in her uniform.
"Sir, welcome," she said with a smile.
"Thank you, Ms Pete,"
"Good evening," I said.
"Welcome, dear" she said as we walked past her.
The place is similar to Uncle Brad's. Luxurious, spotless, spacious, and beautiful.
We got to the living room and I found some people seated at the dining table.
Oh gosh.
They must be his family.
"Hello, hello," Michael sang, claiming their attention.
They all smiled at him.
"Honey," his mother, I presume, said, getting on her feet as we approached.
"Big brother!" Two beautiful girls dressed in similar attire and similar dark hair tied in ponytails squealed in unison as they got on their feet.
They approached us and hugged Michael.
They are my exact height but younger.
I guess teenagers around sixteen or less.
Michael chuckled, hugging them and placing a kiss on their temples.
One of them looked my way.
"Is it her?" she whispered, as if I can't hear her.
"Mm hmm,"
They both moved towards me happily, giving me a clear view of their strong identical look.
They are gorgeous.
"Hello, welcome to our home," they said in unison.
I chuckled slightly. "Thank you,"
"I am Emma," one of them said while placing her hand on her chest.
"And I am Sandra."
"It is nice to meet you both. You are both very beautiful." I said, smiling.
"Thank you," they said in unison again.
God, they are so adorable.
"Alright girls, my turn. The mom is coming through," a woman said. Must be Michael's mom, making the girls move aside a bit as she moved closer to me.
She wrapped me in a hug, making me relax.
"Welcome to our home, sweetie," she said and pulled away.
"Thank you, ma'am,"
"You are more beautiful than my son described."
I smiled, lowering my gaze slightly.
"He has good eyes," she said, making Michael chuckle.
"He sure does," the chairman chipped in. He is seated on his head seat and staring at us with a smile.
"Hello, sir," I said.
"Welcome, my dear. I hope the ride here wasn't hectic."
I shook my head.
"I am a good driver, Dad." Michael chipped in.
"Of course you are," he said, making Michael and his mom chuckle.
"My mom made these for you," I said, handing over the box to Michael's mom.
"Oh," she said, taking it. "For me?"
I nodded. "They are cupcakes,"
She raised her brows. "Ooh, cupcakes. My favorite."
"Our favorite, Mom." one of the twins said.
"Of course," Michael's mom said, extending the box to them.
"Thank you so much, dear. Your mom is the sweetest,"
"She sure is," Michael said, making me look at him.
He is smiling at me.
I smiled.
"Come, come, we have some special delicacies made for you," his mom said, taking me towards the table.
It is about to be an amazing night.
I don't feel nervous anymore.
His family is truly amazing as he said.
MINUTES LATER..........
"Thank you for the amazing dinner, ma'am. It was delicious." I said, making Michael's mom wave it off.
"Nah, call me mom. I mean, you are my son's girlfriend,"
I looked at Michael with a smile. He smiled as well, placing his hand on mine and holding it.
I held his too.
"You two look good together," one of the twins said. She and the other twin are seated right opposite us, smiling beautifully at us.
"Well, your brother has good taste," Michael said.
"So when is the wedding?" The other twin said, making me freeze as their mom chuckled.
"Emma," Michael called.
"And babies too," the other twins said, making my cheeks heat up as Michael let out a tiny chuckle.
"Girls, come on. We haven't gotten to that stage yet," he said, caressing my hand.
I looked at him slightly.
"Well, we can't wait to see that beautiful stage." his mom said, sipping her drink. "I want to be a grandma and your sisters want to be aunties. Right, girls?"
"Right!" The twins said in unison.
Oh gosh.
I shared a shy look with Michael and lowered my gaze as my cheeks heated up.
"So, tell us more about yourself dear." his mom said, making me look at her. "What else do you do apart from being a nurse?"
"I love baking."
She hummed. "Really?"
I nodded.
"Her mom owns a bakery," Michael said.
"Is that so?" The chairman asked.
"Yes sir."
"That is awesome. We will pay a visit someday and buy a lot of cupcakes," Michael's mom said, smiling at me.
I smiled too.
"She could bake our birthday cakes," one of the twins said.
"I know right?" Their mom asked.
"That will be great. She will be delighted to render her services to you. She makes the best birthday cakes," I said.
"Aw," Michael's mom said as the twins grinned.
I smiled at them.
This has been going well. I can't find that nervousness anymore. They are welcoming people.
I would love to stay long but it is getting really late. It is almost eleven pm.
"Well, family. Thanks for having my lovely girlfriend here," Michael spoke up, looking at me with a smile and then at his family. "I have to take her home now."
He just read my thoughts.
"Oh,"
"Yeah," Michael said, getting on his feet. I did as well but the next thing that happened took our attention.
A thunder clap.
I saw lightning appearing and disappearing outside.
Next, it began to rain.
Geez.
"Oops, that's rain." One of the twins said, making me look at her.
"A heavy one," the other one said.
"And a beautiful sigh too." Michael's mom said, getting on her feet. "You both can't go in the rain."
"I promised to take her home before midnight, Mom."
"Well, we have an entire hour before midnight. Why don't we move to the living room and see a movie together as a one big family while you two wait for the rain, hmm?"
"Uh...." Michael looked at me.
I fought the urge to shake my head in disagreement.
"That will be uh..."
"Awesome!" his mom blurted, walking towards us. "Twins, pick a movie,"
"Okay!" The girls sang while walking around the table and towards the living room as I felt someone hold my hand.
It was Michael's mom.
"Come, my dear. Let's see a good movie," she said, taking me towards the living room before I could say anything.
"Trust me when I say the girls have awesome taste in picking a good movie," she said, grinning.
I smiled, looking behind at Michael.
He shrugged slightly.
"You are going to love it."
"I am sure," I said as we got to the living room.
Mom, I have to be an hour late.
Michael's family is so welcoming.
"Madelyn, get us popcorn please," his mom called for the maid.
I think.
"Yes, ma'am,"
TWO HOURS LATER........
"It is still pouring and still windy, Mom."
She heaved a sigh, sounding sleepy. It has been two hours of seeing an amazing movie.
Michael's mom was right about the girls' good taste in movies. I enjoyed the movie.
Right now I am still in their house, currently seated at the dining table with Michael seated next to me but facing me.
And it is still raining nonstop.
"We had been done with dinner a long time but it started raining and I thought it would stop after some minutes but it didn't," I said, moving my eyes to Michael.
He is staring at me.
"It's pouring nonstop here too. Alright, honey. Just sleep over and I will see you tomorrow."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"You are not upset?"
She scoffed. "Sweetie, I don't want you and Michael on the road out there. It is late and pouring heavily. It is not safe."
I nodded.
"Just spend the night. Tomorrow morning you come home, okay?"
"Okay,"
"I will make you your favorite breakfast tomorrow,"
I smiled, lowering my gaze.
"Thanks, mom."
"You are welcome, sweetie. Alright, now go to sleep. Tell Michael goodnight for me."
I looked at him with a smile.
"He is right here," I said, making him smile.
"Let me talk to him."
I handed him the phone.
He took it and moved it to his ear.
"Mrs Samuels,"
He chucked. "Mom,"
I smiled. She must have told him to call her mom instead.
"Yes, Mom. She will be perfectly taken care of. You have nothing to worry about." he said, looking at me.
I smiled again, lowering my gaze momentarily.
"I will bring her home first thing tomorrow morning," he said, moving his eyes to me. A smile formed on his lips.
I smiled as well.
"Yes. Alright. Have a good night." He said, nodding and handing over the phone to me.
I took it from it and placed it on my ear.
"Mom,"
"Alright honey, see you in the morning." Mom said.
"Okay. Tell David good night for me,"
She huffed. "He is already asleep."
"Oh right."
"Good night," she sang.
I smiled. "Good night, Mom,"
She hung up, making me lower my phone.
"That's settled, right?" Michael's mom chipped in, taking our attention.
She is standing at the other side of the table with the girls, staring at me happily.
I nodded. "Yes,"
"Sweet. Michael, sweetie, take her to the room and the maids will get her things for the cold night."
"Okay," he said, making me look at him as he looked my way.
"Let's go, babe," he said, getting on his feet.
I nodded, smiling and getting on my feet.
"Good night, my dear." His mom said, smiling at me.
"Good night, Mom. Good night, girls," I said.
"Good night!" The girls sang in unison and happily.
Michael took my hand and led the way towards the stairs.
I heard giggles and mutters from his mom and sisters as we ascended the stairs, making me blush.
"Girls, to bed." I heard their mom say.
"Oh come on, Mom."
"We are not sleepy."
"Well, you are going to make yourselves sleepy. Now off you go."
I heard the girls make protesting mutters and cranky sounds.
Michael chuckled as we got to the hallway.
"My sisters can be cranky most times."
"They are really sweet," I said.
"That too,"
I smiled, lowering my gaze as we walked along the spacious and luxurious hallway.
"Are you still nervous?" he asked, making me look at him.
"No. I feel great."
He smiled. "Really?"
"Yeah. Your family is very welcoming. Your mom feels like home. I like her."
"Well, not just her but all of them like you too."
I smiled.
"I knew they were going to like you. They like what I like. That's my family for you." he said, caressing my hand.
I smiled, feeling my heart flutter as we walked.
I guess we are going to his room. I am really spending the night with him.
I can't help but imagine how the night would be with h...
"We are here," he said, stopping in front of a door.
He grabbed the doorknob and opened it, revealing a luxurious room.
I gestured for me to go in first. I did, feeding my eyes with the huge space and queen-sized bed. Two white couches and a glass table. White curtains and a chandelier on the ceiling.
The room is beautiful.
Bigger and better than mine back at home.
Don't get me wrong. I love my room back at home but this is nice.
The bed is.....
I rested my eyes on the bed as I thought of a lot of this with Michael on it with me.
"Do you like it?"
I turned, looking at Michael.
"Huh?"
"Do you like the room?" he repeated.
I nodded, smiling. "I do. Your room is beautiful."
I furrowed my brows slightly and let out a tiny chuckle.
"Uh..." he cleared his throat. "This uh....this is not my room."
I furrowed my brows.
"This is one of the guest rooms."
"Guest room?"
