Chapter 327 Family Reunion
Chapter 327 Family Reunion
William called Dylan and told him to keep a close eye on Benjamin.
But a sudden accident disrupted William's plans yet again.
Benjamin was on his way to follow up on the private detective's call when a pickup truck hit him as he crossed the street and threw him to the ground.
He lay on the ground, his body out of control, unable to move at all.
As he lay there dying, one thought kept circling in his mind: I still haven't found my wife...
He died on the way to the hospital.
When William got the news, his phone fell to the ground, the screen shattering into pieces.
All his careful planning had turned into a cruel joke.
William looked at the blue sky outside the window, the last traces of life draining from his eyes.
"God, why are you always against me?"
William's chest trembled, and he coughed up a mouthful of black blood.
He locked himself in the room that had belonged to him and Isabella. William never went downstairs again.
Three days passed, and Dylan finally received a call from William.
After hearing William's voice on the other end, he picked up the documents and pushed open the bedroom door.
Although Dylan had tried to prepare himself, when he saw William keeping vigil by the coffin, his chest still tightened and his breath caught.
William now looked almost like a dried-out corpse, but his eyes still held a glimmer of light.
Those bloodshot eyes were sunken deep in dark, bluish sockets.
William leaned against the coffin and said in a low voice,
"Dylan, do you remember how many years you've been with me?"
Dylan looked at William, who couldn't stand up, tears streaming down his face.
He nodded hard. "Of course I remember."
William continued, "Did you bring that document from the study?"
Dylan quickly handed over the documents.
But William waved his hand.
"I don't have much time left. Listen to me: follow the instructions in those documents exactly."
"No one has the right to stop you."
Dylan nodded firmly.
He had already glanced through these documents on his way here.
The documents were very detailed, and the date written on them was actually three months ago.
William had been planning this step all along.
He hadn't considered himself at all, having made up his mind to die three months ago.
In the documents, William ordered that the Spencer Group be dissolved. Of all his assets, nine-tenths were to be used to establish a charitable foundation.
The remaining tenth would be used to create an orphanage, named after Isabella.
None of his family members or relatives was to receive a single penny.
William leaned against the coffin, his eyes showing a trace of reluctance.
He wasn't reluctant to leave this world; he was only reluctant to give up his chance to be with Isabella.
After today, they would never meet again.
The sky grew darker, and the wind grew colder.
William leaned against the coffin, a bitter smile on his lips.
He slowly closed his eyes. His left hand, which had been twitching uncontrollably, would never tremble again.
At last, he would no longer dream—no longer hurt her in those dreams.
Never again.
William's chest heaved once, and he coughed up another mouthful of blood.
Blood stained the corner of his mouth, but he no longer had the strength to wipe it away.
He turned his head and pressed his lips against the coffin one last time.
"Dylan, help me up."
William's fragile voice reached Dylan's ears.
His nose stung, and he quickly rushed over to help William up.
"Mr. Spencer..."
His eyes welled up. He could feel that William's life was coming to an end.
Like a candle burned down to nothing, its flame sputtering, about to go out.
Through the coffin lid, William looked at Isabella inside.
He opened his mouth and said slowly,
"Isabella, you're free now."
"I... I should go too."
William's mind replayed everything from the past.
Isabella's image flickered through his mind like scenes from a documentary.
From that line at the funeral: "William, marry me."
To that final moment on the rooftop, when Isabella turned, smiled at him, and said,
"William, I'm leaving now."
William stared at her face, wanting to etch it into his memory forever.
Finally, he could hold on no longer. He slowly closed his eyes and his body fell heavily.
"Mr. Spencer!"
Dylan cried out, grabbing William's arm.
This kept him from falling to the ground.
He shook William's hand, his eyes full of disbelief.
He checked again and again.
"Mr. Spencer... Mr. Spencer..."
In that silent room, only Dylan's cries remained.
Dawn hadn't yet broken.
But for William, whether dawn came or not made no difference anymore.
Dylan followed his will and actually disbanded the Spencer Group.
Despite facing heavy opposition, including from William's relatives, Dylan went ahead.
But with that document, Dylan was spared a lot of trouble.
William's will instructed that the Spencer estate be torn down and leveled.
This villa carried too many painful memories.
Only by demolishing it could the traces of Isabella's suffering be erased.
Dylan followed the will, doing everything one by one.
When Dylan opened the basement, he still felt like he was dreaming.
He stood in front of the metal cage like a robot, his eyes empty.
"Benjamin is dead."
His tone was becoming more and more like William's.
Isla in the cage suddenly woke up.
"You're lying!"
Dylan, mimicking William, also lit a cigarette.
"I have no reason to lie to you."
"He died in a car accident."
"Mr. Spencer... Mr. Spencer is also dead..."
No one would understand the sadness in Dylan's eyes.
Isla suddenly burst into wild laughter, though tears filled her eyes.
"You're lying. I won't believe it."
"He was in a coma—how could he suddenly get into a car accident?"
"No, William must have killed him."
"William, how can you be so cruel? He was innocent."
Dylan's tone remained calm.
"It was an accident."
"He woke up a week ago."
"But Mr. Spencer didn't tell him you were locked up here. Mr. Spencer was truly a genius. He told him that you ran away while he was unconscious and abandoned him as a patient."
Isla in the cage kept shaking her head, unwilling to believe Dylan's words.
But after months of observation, she understood Dylan's character too well.
Dylan didn't seem like someone who would lie.
Her gaze shifted to the white flower on Dylan's chest.
"You've always wanted to die, haven't you? Now no one can stop you."
Dylan's voice showed no emotional fluctuation.
Those deep eyes held no light.
His face was turned away from the light, his features hidden in shadow.
"Yes, haven't I always wanted to die?"
Isla seemed to have lost the ability to think. She repeated Dylan's words.
But every sentence was actually said to herself.
"Isabella, Beatrice, I'm coming to find you."
"Our family will be reunited soon."
Isla slowly leaned back.
Her hands still gripped the iron bars, then she suddenly slammed her forehead against the cage's iron rods.
A piercing sound broke the night's silence.
Dylan watched quietly as Isla died before him.
Isla's forehead caved in and broke open, the splattered blood hitting his face.
He seemed not to feel it, standing up and letting out bursts of laughter.
With each laugh, his chest shook.
It should end now.
He dismissed the bodyguards and, with the butler, used the Spencer Group's remaining funds to build an orphanage.
The orphanage was named after Isabella.
The unspent money was used to establish a separate charity organization to maintain the orphanage's expenses.
Being busy allowed Dylan to temporarily forget his pain.
Numbly, like a newly programmed robot, he carried out William's wishes.
Now he was the orphanage's director, no longer Dylan.
In the future, no one could give him orders or tell him what to do.
Everything would depend on himself alone.
Dylan sent both coffins to a hillside.
The sunset was blood-red. Donny sat on the grass, staring at it in a quiet daze.
A blue dragonfly flew around him and finally landed on his fingertip.
He had almost merged with the surrounding grass and trees, so even insects weren't afraid to approach him.
When Donny turned his head, he saw, far away at the foot of the mountain,
a crystal coffin shining with brilliant light, like a huge rectangular diamond, dazzling in the distance.
He only looked once, and could no longer look away.
The dragonfly resting on his fingertip also flapped its wings and flew away.
When the coffin came to a stop before him, Donny's face, usually as gentle as a spring breeze, could no longer remain calm.
"Isabella, I've been waiting for you."
He looked at the coffin, talking to the woman inside as if no one else existed.
"I knew you would come."
"Now it's good."
"From now on, Ambrose and I will always watch over you, always protect you."
"This time we won't fail again."
His gaze turned to the other coffin.
