cramps and bonds

Nayera shut the door in his face as Kush stopped right at the door. Nayera took a deep breath. She was not expecting him to introduce her as his girlfriend. Who was he to decide for her? To call her whatever his heart wants?

He could have said she was a friend or an employee but no, he had to say girlfriend! She hates relationships. How fucking dare he call her something like that?

“Nayera,” She turned around to look at him, peeking at her from the window. She walked to the window as he looked at her.

“fuck off!” She said and closed the window right in his face.

She had not even taken a few breaths when he walked to the other one, “Nayera, listen to me at least!” He said, but Nayera angrily walked to the other window as well and closed it right in his face.

This time no words were exchanged!

She sat on the couch and pulled her legs close to her chest. Hugging herself, she bit her inner cheek to stop herself from crying.

‘Why does anyone ever ask for my consent?’ The thought alone was enough for her to let her walls down and cry, but she did not.

She never allowed herself to.

Taking one last breath, she lay on the couch in the fetus's position. She did not realize that she had fallen asleep. Kush, on the other hand, was close to pulling his own hair.

This girl always kept him on his toes. Never let him breathe peacefully. “What’s the big deal if I introduced her as my girlfriend? She does not even know how much of an accomplishment being my girlfriend is!” he murmured to himself before sitting on the steps of her house.

“You are stubborn, then I am stubborn as well. I will sit here till you come and sort this out, Nyaera garg!” giving himself a little pep-talk, he waited for her to open the door or a window and glance at him.

An hour passed but she did not come.

“Attitude!” he murmured again, looking at the windows of her house that were closed firmly; he did not hear a single noise.

That means she did not come to check on him.

Soon a car pulled up in the parking; the light fell on Kush straight on as he closed his eyes and put his arm in front of his face.

“Kush?” Nihalika walked out of her car as she saw Kush sitting on the steps of the house.

“What are you doing at the steps of our house?” She asked as Kush gave her a weak smile.

“I, umm… I kind of offended Nayera, now I am waiting for her to call me inside,” he said as she gave him a weak smile.

“Forget that Nayera will ever come to call you inside, come,” She said as he stood up.

Opening the door with the key, Nihalika entered the house and looked around. Nayera had passed out on the couch as usual.

She walked towards her and touched her hair slowly, keeping in mind not to disturb her sleep.

“She was really upset, right?” Nihalika asked in a low tone as Kush looked at her from the step of the house. He still did not enter.

“I guess yeah,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

“Nayera always passes out here when she is upset. Thank god this time the glasses are not trashed,” Kush chuckled.

“Nice joke!” he said fake laughing, but Nihalika shook her head.

“It was not a joke? What the—don’t tell me she really did that,” Kush asked as Nihalika nodded.

“First come inside,” Nihalika said as Kush walked inside the house and closed the door behind him. There is no use in being stubborn if she is a bigger one than him.

Maybe even like him.

“Nayera is, I may say, a coconut,” She said as Kush nodded.

“Being in her good books is not easy. Try harder Mr. Sabarwal,” She said before walking in the direction of her room.

“One starch on her and I will not stop before I break all of your 206 bones, Kush,” Nihalika said before she closed the door of her room.

Kush shook his head, both of them were weird!

One moment, they would be all sweet, and in the next moment like stone.

Kush took steps near the couch Nayera was sleeping on; he pushed the small bags of her hair off her forehead and looked at her innocent face.

“Let’s carry you to the bedroom, Ms. Coconut,” he whispered before he picked her up and walked to her room.

Dropping her on the bed, she opened her eyes for a second and looked at him. Kush’s blood ran cold as he looked at her. She was awake.

That means she will throw him out again.

“Sleep,” She said in a low voice before turning to the other side. Kush just looked at her for a few seconds before he realized she had fallen asleep again.

He looked at his wristwatch, it was 2 am. He was drunk already, driving back to his place or the palace was not going to be a good idea.

He took a pillow from Nayera’s bed and adjusted the AC temperature before he lay on the couch. Nayera opened her eyes as she felt a cramp hitting her leg.

“Oh shit!” She tried to press her leg as she hurriedly sat up but it started to ache badly.

“ouch! Ouch! Ahhhh! Ahhhh! Maa,” Nayera cried when she could not press her leg to herself and the pain was increasing every second.

“Nayera? What happened?” Kush was quick to move to her.

“My aaaahhh leg” She cried, trying to press her leg.

Kush hurriedly pressed her legs for a few seconds before her cries died down. “Are you okay now?” He asked as she nodded.

The little light from the window was enough for them to at least see each other’s presence.

“Go sleep,” she ordered as he nodded, walking off to the couch again. He slept and so did she.
