CHAPTER 23

November I can't believe that the reason my mother called me, was to do amebo (gossip).

She only called me to tell me that her neighbor that lies a lot was exposed.

She said that the woman lied about her daughter being engaged to a wealthy man outside the country and when she heard that the daughter returned yesterday from wherever she traveled to, she made sure the daughter came to greet her.

When the lady came, there was no ring on her finger and when she asked, she said she wasn't outside the country talk less of being engaged.

This was the pointless news my mom called me to tell me.

At times I wonder what type of woman my mother is.

4:30pm I was getting ready to leave the office when my office phone rang.

"November Tete Speaking" I said into the phone.

"Oh, hi November” the voice said, and I knew who it was already.

"Ah, good evening ma" I greeted "My daughter, how are you?" Kalmon's mother asked

"I'm very fine, thank you. What about you?"

"I'm good, I need you I tell my son to come home today" she said.

You could just call him and tell him by yourself...

"I tried calling him but he's not picking up, tell him it's urgent and important" she said like she read my mind.

"Okay ma" I told her, and she hung up.

"Hey, your mom just called, she wants you to go to your family house today, she says it's urgent" I told him and immediately the last words dropped from my lips, his eyes widened in surprise.

What The Fuck.

Kalmon "Quickly, tell Larry to turn the car around, I'm going home" I rushed, stacking the papers I was reviewing messily on my desk, but I couldn't care less.

Urgent...

How is that even possible?

"Is something wrong?" November's cherry voice sounded in my ears, for a moment, I totally forgot she was standing there.

I stood there looking at her, I couldn't tell her.

"It's nothing" I said adjusting my tie.

"You should go home" I told her, lacking what to say.

"I plan on doing just that" she said, I gave her a short nod and I left the office.

"Mom? Mother!!" I called when I entered into the family house.

"Kalmon you're here" she said hugging me when she came out from the kitchen.

"Where's he?" I asked "He's with your dad in the study, you should go there" told me.

I gave her a peck on her cheeks and left to my Father's study.

"Hey dad" I greeted when I entered into the study.

"Kaez"

"Kalmon"

"Boys"

"Kalmon, have a sit" Dad said to me and I did.

"When did you get back?" I asked Kaez "Last night" he answered dryly Why the fuck did he come back?

"I messed y'all so much, look at how grown you look" he said like he read my mind.

"How long will you be hear for?" I asked.

"As long as I feel" he said smiling slyly.

I know that look, it means he's got something planned.

"It's good yo have you back, bro" I said, putting more emphasis on the 'bro'

"It's good to be back" he said, giving me a smirk.

I'm not a little boy any longer bro. I'm ready for you this time.

"Kaez, your mother prepared your favorite meal for your return" Dad said, keeping an easy smile on his face.

"Oh really? She did?" He asked in disgust.

Calm down Kalmon...

"I'll pass, I had something before coming here" he said "I'm going to rest, I'll see y'all later" he said and left the study, not before brushing his shoulders with mine.

"Kalmon, remember what we talked about right?" Dad asked me and I nodded my head.

"Just give him time" he advised, and I nodded my head again before leaving the study.
