Chapter Fifty Six
Chapter Fifty Six
Lindani got two plates from the kitchen for himself and Xolo. His mother only spared him a single glance. Deciding not to say anything to him. When he disappeared to the other side of the room. She started to give a threatening stare to her husband. "Tata why do I feel like you are not listening to me in this house? Why do you find it hard to fight for your wife? I just told you about that crazy woman called MamXala harassing me in the church that you claim to be ours. She does not respect me. Akandiboni in fact! You need to teach her a lesson. Start by throwing out that bastard son of hers!"
Maseko placed down his spoon. "I lost my appetite." He got up from his place at the table. He gave his wife a dirty stare of his own. "You know you should be ashamed of yourself. You call yourself a woman who prays to God. Then I believe you should be very kind towards others. Not causing fights wherever you go."
He left the room leaving Mamfundisi speechless. The minute Maseko got into his room he touched his cheek he remembered all that had happened only just a few hours ago.
After so many years of forcing his feelings away, hiding them and even tried to tell himself that whatever he was feeling was never real. But it was. Everything was real. What happened today proved that he could no longer hide his feelings for the one he loved. What would happen now? How would he be able to make everyone understand his state in all this?

The dirty plates were placed on the small table in Lindani's room. Xolo was asleep. While Lindani covered him with the blanket. He brushed away some deadlocks from Xolo's face. He really loved Xolo's face. Him hiding it had made Lindani almost cut the darn dreadlocks.
It made Lindani very happy to see this face. This beautiful face. As a child he was amazed by Xolo's face. It wasn't like everyone else's.
It was and still is very different. It told of mischief and it told of great innocence. "What's going on with you hm?" He asked even though he knew that Xolo wouldn't be able to hear him. When Xolo slept. He slept. He would not hear anything not even an earthquake. Xolo was never a difficult book to read. He always knew what Xolo was thinking. What he wanted. But recently he confused Lindani. It was like Xolo was confused himself.
Maybe Lindani had to go find out what really happened. Why Xolo's mother kicked him out. What was so bad? To Lindani's eyes Xolo couldn't do wrong.
He looked at Xolo one last time and then he laid on the bed too. He wasn't like Xolo he didn't fall asleep immediately. He looked at the ceiling. But would it be so bad to have Xolo so close to him? It would mean no more delays of meeting him. He'd be right here close to him.
So maybe whatever fight that had happened was a blessing in disguise. He turned to gaze at the one next to him. Hm. "What is this I feel for you? Why can't I do anything without thinking about you? Why do I find your beauty to be the most special thing in the world? Why do I want to hold you in my arms forever? I'm tempted. Every time you try to get away I'm tempted. I'm tempted to get out of our characters. The characters we've been playing for a very long time now." He smirked reaching out to Xolo's face. " I'm tempted to kiss you. I don't know why. Is it maybe love? Is it love that I feel for you?" He was so confused. He didn't understand anything. But he knew one thing. Only one thing.
"I will never let you go" that's what he knew. Xolo might have been a cause to question himself. Almost every day. He asked himself what he was on about. What he felt for this mischievous and cute guy next to him.
All he knew though was that he would never let him go. It was impossible. No way.
Xolo smiled. Listening to all of Friday's complains on the phone. She was his cousin. It was bound to happen that all of his family members were just as crazy as him. " You know I just want to be there right now! The city is so boring! When are these school holidays coming? I want to be done with college so I can come live there with you, aunt and uncle. It will be so fun!"
Xolo knew if he didn't say anything right now she would never stop saying a whole lot of things. They were both like that. Always trying to stuff someone's ears with their loud voices.
"Friday calm down. I'm not in the mood to compete with words now. You will come here during the holidays. Okay? And mom and dad will make sure every demand you make will be met." He was saying these words ever so calmly not even showing his real character. The one his cousin knew him with. "What's wrong with you?" Friday asked knowing there had to be something wrong with her cousin. "Don't you dare even try to lie to me Xolo. I'll know."
Xolo adjusted his position on the bed. This was going to be a long talk. "Mom threw me out of the house Day. She even disowned me."
"WHAT?! DISOWNED? WHAT DID YOU DO?" Xolo pulled away his phone from his ear. He wasn't even going to put it back because he knew Friday would still be yelling. When he finally put his phone back on his ear he just wanted to talk. And Friday would listen.
"I have a name on my back Friday. I chanted a name in my sleep. Mother heard. Before I could even explain anything. She took me by the ear and then threw me at the pastor's doorstep. I've been here ever since." He finished that with a long sigh.
"I don't understand" his cousin started, " how could aunt do that? Why would she be so mean? I mean the chant is of no one's control it happens without knowing. It drives most of us mad. But it's a happy moment isn't it? You've found your chanted! Brother you know this happens only after every ten years. I always thought aunt would be the happiest to hear these news. Who is she? Is it Ruby? Because I would understand too. I don't like that girl. Ugh! To have her as a sister in law for life. Now that's just so horrid."
Xolo replied in an even smaller voice. "It's not Ruby. It's not a woman either. Friday it's Lindani he is my chanted. My tattooed one. I have his name written body on my back. You know the worst part? I don't understand anything anymore. Nalebendiyazi andisayazi."
Friday stayed quiet for a while. Making Xolo to worry. What if his cousin was disgusted at him now?
"Xolo I'm coming." That was all she said before the line went dead. Xolo frowned looking at the phone. Before he could react he saw Lindani getting into the room.
Lindani had a towel wrapped around his waist. His chest covered with droplets of water. This whole display made Xolo gulp.
Lindani turned to look at Xolo. "Hey I heard you talking to somebody. Who were you talking to?"
Xolo blinked trying to look at anything but Lindani. "How does it concern you? It's my phone. So it's my business."
Lindani walked to the bed. Took the phone from Xolo's hands. Unlocked it and went to check who he had been chatting with. He returned it when he saw it was only Friday. "I haven't seen her in a while. What's she doing now?" He questioned Xolo who only stared at him.
"Who do you think you are hm? This my phone. Not yours. What is your problem?"
