Chapter 297 Eve's Sad Story in Paris!
The grandfather lifted his head up as if trying to recall snippets of past events.
"I asked one of my colleagues to help Eve at the place where she was studying! It turned out that Eve was quite an achiever and I asked them how to get her to win the competition! But...as it turns out...I didn't have to go that far...Eve did it...on her own...I just helped introduce her to the world! That's all! By covering her victory in a big way! Until...eventually...Eve got her first client and so on! I just watched her from a distance! But I couldn't stand it, and I finally surfaced! I've been helping Eve and her daughter ever since!" The grandfather took a breath before continuing.
"Do you know, because of your stupidity! Eve's life has always been miserable! But she never had the slightest thought of losing the baby she was carrying! She took care of her even in her distress! Fortunately....I found her quickly! Did you also know, Eve almost lost her baby! She had a hemorrhage and was only treated at home and there was only a visiting doctor! I don't know where she got the money for treatment from, but she sold some of her family's valuables, only a watch, Allan! A watch so that she can maintain her life! She never gave up, Allan!" the grandfather looked at his grandson with emotion, Allan just looked down and kept his head down. His eyes were blurry from the tears that were getting heavier, he had never cried before. But from listening to Eve's story he started to cry.
"Oh my God, she was only 21 years old back then! I feel like beating the hell out of you for wasting her! I was also the one who provided the help for Eve to set up her company! But after it grew enough, Eve started rejecting my help! She even returned my money little by little even though I rejected it! She never touched a cent that I put into her account! Are you crazy to waste a woman as good as her?! Where did you put your brain, Allan!" the grandfather was silent, he wiped his tears that were also straight like his grandson.
Allan was even more bowed down and covered his face listening to the suffering and hardship that Eve had gone through all this time, while he was rolling in wealth here. As if he didn't care. Allan cried silently.
"I don't know, this! I've been trying to find her! I... I..." Allan said sobbing he felt like a failed man this time.
"It's because I hid the data all this time so you wouldn't bother her again! That's why you didn't find her! But your daughter is smart! She knows she has a Daddy who is a total jerk like you! She also brought Eve to you! Because Aleena loves you! Aleena knows her mummy loves you too! Aleena said Eve used to cry in the dark in the apartment every time she saw your face on the TV! Aleena was the one who sent the sample design drawings to your company! Unbeknownst to Eve!" the grandfather gasped again, trying to catch his breath.
After regaining his composure he said. "But now you've let them down again, Allan! Eve is hurt, your daughter too! What exactly do you want Allan? If you don't want them, let grandpa take care of my great-granddaughter and granddaughter-in-law! And off you go with that demon woman and your future baby! I've never liked her!" said the grandfather standing up.
Allan chased after the grandfather and held his hand, "Grandpa! I have nothing to do with her! And I don't know whose baby it is, grandpa! Please believe me! I haven't had any contact with her or touched her since...coming back from Bali three years ago, Grandpa! That's pure lies on her part!"
"So why did you keep quiet when she lied?" the grandfather asked again.
"Because...I was tired! Tired of every client setting me up with their daughters! They never believe me when I tell them I already have a wife! Because Eve wasn't beside me at the time! So I kept it quiet, until..." Allan said hesitantly.
"Until you hurt Eve and Aleena's feelings, is that it?" said the grandfather irritably.
Allan just nodded weakly.
"Never mind, all we have to think about is where Eve is now! I know from her letter that she didn't mean to leave you, Allan! Oh my God! Are you stupid? She still calls you 'my husband'! And she needs you to prove to her that the baby isn't yours! Then she'll come back! That's what she means! I wonder why I have grandchildren who are only good at their office jobs!" the grandfather said with annoyance while tapping his stick.
Allan gaped at the grandfather's words, "So, you're saying...Eve didn't leave, is that it?"
"Ehem! But she'll be gone forever, if you don't find her soon, silly boy! Use that clever brain of yours!" said the grandfather, getting annoyed.
Allan smiled happily, "Really, that? Eve didn't leave me?"
"Allan, you can think about that later! Now, find where Eve is quickly! I have a feeling something happened to her!" said the grandfather holding Allan's shoulder.
Allan suddenly realised, "Aleena! Aleena grandpa, how stupid of me!"
"You're a fool when it comes to this! What's wrong with Aleena?" asked the grandfather.
"Wait a minute, Grandpa! Let me think and sort it out and then you'll know!" as Allan fiddled with his mobile phone.
In the meantime, Mr Sam came in and gave Allan the surveillance footage and his errata along with his laptop.
"Sir! Sir! There's something! Madam seems to have received a call from a stranger just before going out, sir!" Mr Sam shouted while showing something.
"Show me the surveillance footage!" said Allan again. Finally the three of them looked at the surveillance camera and it was clear that Eve was talking to someone.
"No problem, I'll try to find Eve's whereabouts through the mobile phone I gave Aleena that is connected to me!" said Allan standing up.
The grandfather knocked his head back, "What's wrong, Grandpa? What did I do wrong!" Allan rubbed his sore head.
"Why didn't you think of that earlier! Hurry up and find out!" said the grandfather.
"Yes..yes...this also just occurred to me, dear grandfather!" said Allan again.
Allan tried to check his mobile phone, and he frowned.
"Why are they both in the suburbs? She seems to be...." Allan said again.
Until someone called Allan, Allan looked at the grandfather, "Robert?"
"Pick up! Who knew it was important!" exclaimed the grandfather in code.
"Hello? Robert? What's up? It better be really important this time, Robert! Because I don't have time to serve you! I really need to go find..." Allan's speech was cut off.
"Uncle! Come quickly! Help me...I mean...help Eve! Eve needs help! Someone's after her! Hurry! I'm on Johnson Street..."
Tut!
The phone connection was cut off instantly. Allan hesitantly looked at his grandfather.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Eve..."
