Chapter 93 Chapter 93 Pay for Stuffs
Rebecca’s POV
Micah left with so much joy in his eyes, and I was glad about it. I watched as he climbed his bike and rode off from my gate. When I could no longer see the traces of him on my street, I turned and was going back inside when I saw Natasha’s car up ahead.
Seeing Natasha’s car, I knew she was coming to my mansion. Hence, at the moment she drove through the gate, my bodyguards bowed to her in humble respect, knowing who she was to me.
When we both got into the house,
“I know I am the one who referred Micah to you. But I think he is no longer whom I thought he was,” Natasha sounded, her tone serious.
We both sat down, and my curiosity grew inside me like a tree.
Why did she say that all of a sudden?
“Why do you think so?” I asked her.
“Because you said he is just eating all the way at the restaurant and all of that...”
“Oh!” I interrupted Natasha. With this, I realized I had not really updated Natasha since Micah and I left the restaurant. Everything she knew was that he ate everything he ordered at the restaurant without even shying away from me, as the person he was meeting for the first time.
“I think I misunderstood him at first,” I said as I told Natasha everything that happened that day. I made her understand that it was his health condition that made him binge eat at the restaurant. I told her about the cinema and everything that went on between us after that day too, just so that she was really updated about everything and she could start seeing him again from the angle I was seeing him.
After hearing everything I said to her, “I don’t think it's a good thing Micah is asking you for money. I mean, even if he has a problem, isn't it too early to ask you for money?” Natasha sounded, shaking her head negatively as if something was really wrong.
“Don’t get me wrong, Natasha. He didn’t ask me for money. I gave him,” I said to her, then I explained everything again right from what he said he needed the money for.
I mean, isn't it good that he wanted to go apply as a lecturer in a college? Isn't it something one can be proud of doing, right?
Ordinarily, I was a woman who didn’t like to share anything that happened in my relationship with anyone. But Micah came from Natasha, and I think I have to carry her along so she can relax, knowing that I was in good hands because the way I saw her right now, she was really concerned about me. Not to mention that this was my first try at love again after everything with Gabriel.
“Okay. But I want you to be careful, okay? Remember that I knew him only a long time ago. I don’t know him now. I judge him based on what I knew he used to be like,” Natasha said again.
“I think I am fine. Let's change the topic now,” I smiled at her. Hence, Natasha and I began to gist about some other things, like the best friends that we are.
After we gisted for about two hours, without even feeling that we spent so much time talking to each other, she spent the night at my place and left the next morning.
After my bath and breakfast the next day, I was planning to go check out my conglomerate with other new companies when Micah’s call came in.
Seeing his name on my phone’s screen, I wondered what he was calling me for early this morning. Most especially when he was supposed to be applying for his lecturing job or be at the interview for the job?
“Hello?” I sounded, my voice low.
“Hi, babe,” he sounded. His voice was bright as if he had some good news to tell me.
Seeing the brightness in his voice, I was eager to listen. “Tell me, you applied and got the job, right?” I asked, already smiling.
“Job?” he sounded confused. But then immediately,
“Oh! The job! I applied. But, well, they told me they didn’t have any open role for now, so I guess I have to try again another time,” he said, his voice nonchalant.
I looked sideways in confusion as if he could see me. I knew indeed that before an applicant applies for a role, such an applicant would have made his research, right?
He would have known everything about the organization he wanted to apply to. In the same sense, he would have known that this role or that role was open. So, why was Micah telling me they told him there was no open role?
“Okay?” I sounded unsure, obviously ignoring this and hoping he would apply for another job soon just like he said.
“So… why’d you call?” I asked him when the silence on the phone was getting awkward.
“I wanted to show you something,” he said brightly again. And just then, I heard two notification sounds on my phone.
I looked at my phone screen and saw that he just sent me two MMS messages.
In the first message, I saw a picture of a leather jacket with the label on it. It dawned on me instantly that the picture was taken in a boutique.
Then I scrolled to the second picture and saw that it was a picture of Nike sneakers with the label on it.
Confused as to why he sent these pictures to me, “I’ve seen the pictures,” I said on the phone.
“Do you not think this would look nice on me?” he chuckled.
“I think they look… nice…” I sounded, confused as to why he was telling me this.
“Do you want to buy them?” I asked him.
“No. You will be buying them for me, babe. It’s best I look good for us, right? Do you not think so?”
I looked sideways as though I couldn’t believe what he said. It was not a bad idea for a partner to buy her lover something since they were both seeing each other, right? But Micah just got 25k yesterday when he claimed to be owing some dangerous people.
Nevertheless, he owed just five thousand, which means he had twenty thousand extra. From that, he would be able to afford anything he wanted and more, right? Why was he asking me to pay for this again?
I sat down on the dining chair. This wasn’t looking like something that would lead to a healthy relationship, or was I overthinking this?
I hung up the phone and called Natasha immediately. Maybe it was best someone else helped me reason this and told me if I was overthinking this or not.
