Chapter 71 Chapter 71 Plan C
Gabriel’s POV
It’s been a while since I walked into this bank for anything, even just to withdraw. Technology is a better result of our world today, and everything I’ve done with this bank in the last three years, I’ve done from my phone.
Even so, it didn’t matter when I last came here. The moment I stepped into the bank, the security at the door greeted me with the utmost respect, as if I had always been coming to this bank and was some sort of executive.
“Mr. Moretti, welcome,” greeted the cashier at the counter with a smile the instant I approached her.
“How may we help you today, sir?” she immediately shifted to her professional demeanor.
She was wearing a black suit and blue-cut computer glasses, which added to her beauty. Her hair flowed down her shoulders like a spring cascading over rocky walls in the middle of a tropical region.
“Hmm…” I began, leaning on the counter and speaking softly.
“I was told to report to the nearest branch. My account was frozen.”
Hearing that my account was frozen, the cashier’s eyes furrowed. “Hold on while I take a look at your account, sir,” she said, then asked me to write my account number on a piece of paper she placed in front of me.
As soon as I wrote my account number, she looked shocked at what she found on the screen.
Then she picked up the telephone beside her and dialed a number.
“Hello, sir, a customer will be coming upstairs now. His account has been frozen. It looks like something delicate,” she said on the phone.
Without further words, she placed the phone down and looked at me.
“Please go upstairs and meet with the account officer.”
Since I wasn’t a new customer at this bank, I knew exactly where the account officer’s office was.
I climbed the stairs and knocked on the door.
On the first knock, “Come in,” a familiar voice from inside the office called out. With that, I stepped into the office.
“Mr. Moretti?” The account officer couldn’t believe his eyes. It had been a while since I’d been here, and I saw the love and joy in his eyes when he saw me.
“I always thought I would never see you again, Mr. Moretti, other than watching you on TV. You are doing great!”
Now, that was one thing I wouldn’t agree with. With how the news stations had shown my life declining and how I had just lost my wife—something I cried about on TV—you see me and say I’m doing great?
Either he wasn’t watching TV, or he was purposely mocking me. However, that wasn’t the reason I came here today.
“Thanks,” I pretended to smile at him before narrating my problem.
“My account was frozen. I’m here to have it resolved,” I said to him.
He gestured for me to sit in the chair in front of his desk.
He sat down as soon as I did and focused on his desktop, which was largely seated on his desk.
His fingers danced across the keyboard like a furious dancer.
“You won’t ask for my account details?” I asked amidst his focus on the screen.
“I already have that, sir,” he said, glancing at me briefly before returning his gaze to the screen.
“Did you give your account information to someone, sir?” he asked out of the blue.
“No!” I answered.
“Do any of your PAs have your login credentials?” he asked again.
“No!” I answered, then continued,
“I’m very strict when it comes to my money. No one knows my banking information but me—not even my late wife.”
“Good!” he said, then removed his fingers from the keyboard.
“I’ve unfrozen your account. It seemed to have been locked by someone who penetrated your account. Please, you may not realize it yet, but someone might have some important information about your account. I’d advise you to change your login details and perhaps add two-step authentication to your banking app. Have a great day, sir,” the account officer said.
“Okay, I’ll do just that,” I smiled and rose to my feet while we exchanged a handshake.
Rebecca’s POV
“Rebecca, you have to see this!” Natasha’s voice sounded urgent as she walked down the stairs to the sitting room.
I was planning to go to Authentic Authentics to sign a contract with a new brand ambassador we had there. But Natasha’s urgent tone made me curious. What was so important that she needed me to see?
“Is there a problem?” I asked her.
“You really need to see this,” she said again as she reached me. Then she showed me something on the tablet she was holding.
“Bot deleted. Account unfrozen!” I read clearly from the screen.
I didn’t need Natasha to say anything more. I knew whose account we had frozen and whose account was unfrozen—but how?
“I thought you said his account couldn’t be unfrozen?” My voice was calm but firm.
“I thought so too. That’s why I used a bot to continuously freeze the account. However, using a verified software, the bot was corrupted and deleted so it couldn’t be used again. The person who handled this account is clearly a major cyber guru,” Natasha explained.
I smiled immediately. “Then we have to execute Plan C,” I said firmly.
Natasha nodded. We had drafted our plans against Gabriel, ready to launch another if he found his way around one.
Now, he was back to having access to his money. And now, we had to be rigorous with Plan C.
“Release the first tape of him meeting with the hired killer. Let the world see him for who he truly is,” I said, my voice low and firm.
