Chapter 18: Terrified

Exhausted, I went straight to my bed and sat down. I had spent my time checking the previous sales of the Cafe. I even divided the profits to allocate for my staff's wages. I also made a list of the items that were lacking in the Cafe, things I needed to buy because we were running out of stocks.

Eventually, I allowed myself to collapse onto the bed. It was then that I thought to check my cellphone and see what was going on in Yanna's condo.

I watched as Kyle entered the condo. I saw how he passionately kissed Yanna, with a fervor that took me off guard.

I didn't notice my hands clench into fists. My jaws clenched tight and my chest painfully constricted from what I was seeing on the screen. You may call me a fool, for despite the pain, I made the conscious decision to open my eyes and observe their hurtful and disgusting interactions. They are such swine! Utterly shameless individuals.

I had always known about Kyle's reputation. He was infamous for being a playboy. Nonetheless, I never thought I would end up being one of his victims.

I had heard numerous stories about him, about the many women he had left heartbroken due to his games. It was my misfortune to cry over such a despicable man.

He didn't deserve to be my first boyfriend, to be my first kiss, nor did he deserve to be the first man I allowed into my life!

He was incredibly adept at deceiving and playing with the hearts of women. His audacity was simply astounding! So, I found myself a victim of his callous games too. He had the nerve to include me in the list of women he had hurt!

However, he was skilled at hiding and playing games. The only thing is, he was unlucky this time. I would serve as his karma.

With this resolution in mind, a sense of grim satisfaction washed over me. I might have been his victim once, but I wouldn't let myself be one anymore. I was determined to teach him a lesson that he would never forget. A lesson in respect, in understanding the gravity of toying with someone's feelings. This time, he had messed with the wrong woman.

If he believes that I will simply let this pass, that I will remain silent and inactive, then he is sorely mistaken. I will make him feel the pain that he has inflicted upon me. I will show him the damage caused by deception, the heartache of betrayal, and the humiliation of being dragged through the mud.

All of their dirty secrets are within my grasp, ready to be revealed. I plan to do it slowly, in the most painful ways possible. They have given me a significant and heavy reason to not spare them even the slightest bit of mercy.

I am heartless. I am ruthless. Had he been straightforward with me, telling me directly that he didn't want me anymore, that he wanted us to break up, things would have been different. But what did he do?

He let it escalate to this point. He let it reach the point where I caught them in their deceitful act. No matter who gets hurt in the process, I will have my revenge.

I squeezed my eyes shut as I watched them undress each other. I released a series of painful sobs, my fists clenched so tightly that I could almost feel the thousands of punches of pain in my chest.

I tossed my cellphone aside, shaking my head vigorously as I heard their moans. I wailed loudly, the sound echoing in the room.

What they did is beyond reprehensible! The pain they inflicted upon me, my sleepless nights, my doubts, my endless questions, and the growing insecurities within me, all of these are because of their actions. They are the reason why I am going through this torment, a result of their foolishness.

I bowed my head, feeling the pain in my chest. I punched my pillow, unable to bear the pain any longer.

I looked up at the ceiling of my room. Tomorrow, I vowed, I would start my revenge. The revenge of a hurt Herrer.

I went into the bathroom and submerged myself in the bathtub. I wanted to drown myself just to escape the pain I was feeling.

I dressed myself mechanically, my movements lifeless. I didn't even touch any of my books and went straight to bed, my chest aching and throbbing.

Even in my sleep, tears streamed down my face continuously.

The next morning, it was surprising that my eyes weren't too swollen, despite the fact that I'd been crying all night. It was a good thing, so I wouldn't break down in tears again. I change in to my prada black dress and choose to wesr the bulgari sepent bracelet that my Aunt Amber gave to me.

My mother saw Kyle outside but didn't invite him in.

Of course. She knew what he had done, and she probably thought that she might hurt Kyle if she let him in.

My eyes were cold as I watched Kyle smile at me. The scenes and the sounds from last night were still fresh in my mind.

How does he manage to smile at me while betraying me behind my back? Where does he get the audacity and the nerve from?

"I'm sorry if I'm only able to drive you now, I've been busy in the past few days," he said.

Who's asking? Me? I couldn't care less about him.

And what kind of busy? Busy deceiving me?

I chose to sit in the back of his car, fearing that I might lose control of my anger.

It's still early, and we don't have class yet. I planned this intentionally for today.

He glanced back at me but without asking anything, he got into the driver's seat. I closed my eyes. I heard the engine roar.

"What's the problem, Yvonne?" he asked again. I was beginning to get annoyed with him.

You're the biggest problem, you dumb jerk.

"Nothing, I was just tired yesterday," I replied, which was true. I was tired from crying because of this jerk! Oh no! From working, he doesn't fucking deserve even my tears.

"Oh. Where did you go?"

I opened my eyes at that and thought of something else.

"Ah, I went to Yanna's condo," I said. A smirk slowly formed on my face. "You know what, I suspect that my dear foster sister has a boyfriend," I added, almost gagging at the term sister. Sister, my foot.

I watched his expression change. He became pale and swallowed hard.

"Really, then that's good," he said and coughed a bit.

"Well, I don't think so. I suspect something's off,"

I fiddled with the zipper of my backpack, the smirk never leaving my face. He wasn't looking at me anyway.

"Because whenever she gets a boyfriend, she tells me right away. Why didn't she tell me this time?" I pretended to wonder.

"Maybe she doesn't have a boyfriend; you're maybe just mistaken," he said.

Idiot. It's not a mistake because I know it's him. Now it's my turn to make him look like a fool; even though I know the truth, I'll pretend to be clueless.

"I never err in my assumptions, Kyle," I said seriously, causing him to turn and look at me.

He cleared his throat but said nothing.

"I saw a bouquet of roses. The person who gives that to her is very romantic!" Except that he's nothing but a motherfucker.

"Really? She's incredibly fortunate then,"

Is she, though? No, absolutely not. She's unlucky because she decided to cross me.

"Yes, she's got that going for her. Meanwhile, when do you plan on giving me something similar?" I said. If you even plan on doing so at all, you jerk.

"I had the impression that you despised roses," he commented.

Indeed, I detest red roses, but black roses? I wouldn't mind those. I could perfectly picture myself chucking them at him.

"Yes, I do despise them," I replied. "But you know, I saw the card. There was a name written in K.Q.," I narrated to him.

I felt like an absolute fool with what I was doing, to the point where I just wanted to bang my head against a wall.

"I initially thought it was Kyle Quinto,"

A large grin spread across my face as he suddenly choked on his words. Yes, that's right, Kyle. You should be nervous.

You should be worried about what I could potentially retaliate with and what I could do. You should be alarmed that you even entered my life.

I won't let you off the hook, you'll face my wrath. I will certainly inflict upon you a pain that will leave an indelible scar on your entire being. I will tarnish your reputation to the point where even strangers won't forget what they'll learn about you. You and Yanna.

Both of you should be terrified for messing with me. I vow to return the pain you've caused me threefold.
