Chapter 55 - New Dimensions.
Jason -
Cassie is gone and Daisy told me on the sly about Jack's episode in his office, their bond is so strong, I have to believe that we will get her back, my guilt over allowing her to be taken is overwhelming and I think it is affecting my healing ability.
The attack happened about an hour ago and Jack is already deep into plans for her rescue, the panic barely concealed in his eyes and voice.
"I'm so sorry Alpha, I have failed you both, I will understand if you wish to demote me, I would deserve it,"
"Don't be ridiculous, I would never even consider that, besides, Cassie would kill me if I did that" his answer is delivered with a reassuring glance before he turns back to the maps laid out across mine and Dave's laps.
Once the plans are made he sends Brian to gather his reinforcements before following the instructions he has been given regarding border patrol and additional security, then turns to me.
"Jase, I know you wanna be there man…"
"Go, we don't have time for my ego, go get our Luna, bring her back to us," I push my wants aside and encourage Jack to depart with Daisy and Dave, who is now back on his feet and they turn as one heading for the door.
Daisy -
They fụcking attacked us, on our own land! What a nerve that Beta has, he only succeeded because he caught us off guard and had more men with him than we had stationed at the prison, he wouldn't have stood a chance against Jason one on one. He might be a Beta and Jason a Gamma, but Jason is better trained than anyone I know except Dave and Jack obviously, he would have wiped the floor with Ace. But poor Jason, you can practically hear the guilt chewing on him and his chest injury should have been fatal, would have been if he was a lower rank. Jack has told him he didn't fail Cassie, but I don't think he believes that. He won't be able to rest until she is back.
Nor will I for that matter and I am grateful I have been included in the rescue party or I might have had to sneak my way there, no way was I being left behind, she is my best friend and Luna, end of discussion. Once the plan is finalized Jack, Dave and I all turn as one to leave the hospital room.
Author POV -
At the exact moment Cassie opens her eyes in Twin Lakes Pack, having been granted the gift of communicating with her wolf, Rival Rivers' Alpha, Beta and Beta's sister, who are walking towards the door, leaving Jason behind, full of determination to rescue their friend/mate/Luna, all collapse in a heap on the floor unconscious. Jason also passed out at the exact same time. The sound of their falling bodies can be heard throughout the hospital and medical professionals rush towards the sound to find three of the most important members of their pack laying in a pile haphazardly and completely unresponsive. Once they recovered from the shock of this sight they noticed the Gamma in a similar state, but as he was already in a bed they busied themselves making the others comfortable and calling the doctors to check them out.
Nobody could determine what had caused their ailments, everything seemed in perfect order, except they were not waking.
Meanwhile, the four humans were pulling themselves up into a sitting position amid thousands of daffodils…
Looking around themselves in confusion it took them a minute to realize they had heard of this place, which meant only one thing, the moon goddess chose to meet with them.
Jack was the first on his feet looking about desperately knowing time was passing in their world and with every minute he was stuck here, he was a minute later to save Cassie, every minute being precious almost sent him into a blind rage that she would summon them now of all times.
Daisy is aware of their location from her conversations with Cassie and though she believes the timing is awful, she trusts that the moon goddess wishes to help so she looks around hopefully. David, having not been close with Cassie, is simply dumbfounded and has no clue what is happening whereas Alpha Jack is prowling around the clearing trying to determine how he can return so he can save his mate when a gentle voice stirs the air around him.
He lets out a loud growl as he turns to the source of the voice but settles quickly upon seeing her exactly as Cassie had described her.
"Welcome, I'm sorry to call you all here at a time like this," begins the moon goddess, "but I needed to speak with you all regarding your rescue of Cassie." The three of the look between themselves shocked that the goddess is involving herself in this matter, it has never been done before as far as they know.
"Cassie is safe for now, I have already visited with her and blessed her with a gift to help her protect herself until you are able to reach her, I won't keep.you long," she promises.
Jack steps forward and lowers himself to one knee before the goddess before speaking reverently to her and asking for aid in their mission, to which the beautiful woman smiles kindly before explaining her plan.
The plan seems impossible to the three visitors and their confusion on how they can possibly do this is plain on their faces. To their surprise the moon goddess laughs softly and tells them that her gift to them will ensure their success.
Jack, Dave and Daisy all bow their heads in submission thanking her profusely before even knowing what the gift is, they are just grateful for her willingness to help.
"The gift I am about to bestow on you has only been given to one other, it will increase your strength and create a bond between you that will never be broken, know this though, if the gift is mistreated it will be removed, this is something I have considered for a long time and if successful will be bestowed upon all of my children in time," the moon goddess then claps her hands once and the sound reverberates around the clearing, before vanishing before their very eyes.
That was so cool, the freaking moon goddess summoned us to her dimension to give us a gift? Where did she go? Is she coming back? Daisy's mind is whirling as she looks all around her.
"I think she must be coming back, she must be retrieving our gift," Dave speaks, I hope she hurries, he adds to himself.
I guess Daisy thinks but doesn't speak.
"I'm sure of it, just wait quietly, we don't want to have her change her mind." Chattering away like that'll help, Dave rolls his eyes
"I didn't say anything, why you telling me to be quiet?" Daisy bursts, outraged. Asshat she silently adds.
"Daisy! He is thinking of Cassie, the sooner she returns the sooner we can leave and get cassie back, calling him names won't help us," come on, we need to get going, I need my mate.
None of them are looking at each other, they are all looking around for signs of the goddess returning so they don't realize that they are hearing each other's thoughts.
