Chapter 25 A Lie 5
Chapter 25 A Lie 5
Naida's pov
“Who was she?” I asked myself, desperate for answers. We just came back from the long journey we had voluntarily embarked on. Jayden was resting. Inasmuch as I needed answers about what transpired with the lady earlier, I wanted him to rest.
This was the second time I met this lady and it was one awkward experience after the other. “Who really was she?” I asked desperately though inwardly. I was very much disturbed but didn't want to bother Jayden at all, we were both tired. I needed rest.
“The lady…who is she?” I finally spit a few minutes later. I just couldn't contain my curiosity. Jayden's head slowly turned as he gave a little smile. “She seemed to have changed your mood so easily,” I added in desperation for answers. “Umm…Mary,” he answered shortly. I gave him a stale stare and I knew he understood why.
“She's been all over me since tenth grade,” he answered, showing he understood my gestures perfectly. But then, I felt that was a lie. “Tenth grade?” I asked in obvious disbelief. Lol, now I know that was a lie. The fact that he lied made me more suspicious. “Tenth grade, Jayden. Wow!” I said sarcastically. However, I was sad because I felt betrayed.
“Why did he lie to me?” “So much betrayal in just a few days,” I remarked. “Babe..umm…yeah, she had always liked me and wouldn't let me breathe even in school," he replied, slightly scratching his eyes. I could tell something was off. “Hmmm…okay then,” I replied as I stood up from the bed. “And that's the only story right?” I asked again, successfully flaming up.
“Babe…you need to calm down,” I laughed loudly in pain. “It's all good, Jayden,” “I'll be going to the bathroom,” I said without letting him say another word. I quickly went to the bathroom and I found myself shedding tears. I took a shower and I prepared to sneak out.
“I must go back to the pack house,” I said, still trying to convince my body to shower. I was so tired. “Babe…I'm sorry for how she behaved with you,” it was Jayden. I didn't know he was at the door of the bathroom all along. “He's not supposed to know that I'll be going to the pack house tonight,” I said to myself.
“What's the problem, Naida…you can always talk to me,” he said faintly as he approached me from behind. I still didn't say anything. “I'm okay,” I responded after a few minutes of silence. It felt more like an hour. He had chosen to lie to me, I'll let him have his way then. But I made sure he wasn't aware of my plan to head back to the pack house tonight. He'd never let me.
He stood right in front of me. ‘Why was he coming even closer?’ I thought in annoyance. “Babe…”he said as his nose touched mine. I knew he was attempting a kiss trick. I quickly turned my face away. “I said I'm sorry…my love,” he said as he held my waist so tightly. “I love you, Naida, so much and I can't breathe properly if you are mad at me. At least let me know about my crime,” he added again.
At this point, I couldn't do anything but stare at him. Of course not, I wasn't going to tell him that I didn't believe him just yet. I had planned to go do my findings first and all by myself. “Jayden,” I said quietly as I politely pushed him a little farther from me, so it doesn't seem rude. “I love you too but I need a shower ,” I said as I moved to get to the towel, leaving him standing.
He didn't say a word after that. He quietly walked out of the bath house. That was the perfect time to leave. “No…I have to wait for sometime,” if I wanted to leave without his notice, I'd have to leave later. So, I decided to have my bath first. I was quite used to sneaking in and out. Lol, I equally got reminded that I was going to do another sneaking when I got to the pack house.
I had finished having my bath and was ready to begin the secret mission. I had checked in on Jayden, he laid sideways in the bedroom. I couldn't tell if he was asleep or not. But he shouldn't be aware of my plan to leave tonight, maybe after.
I quietly headed for the pack house. It was really late and the route was quite scary but I just had to leave at that time, in order not to be spotted by anybody. “I must hurry though, it's not safe out here,” I said loudly as I hurried. The sound of the dry leaves I stepped on and the cool breeze was weirdly terrific.
I quickened my steps and paid less attention to the triggerers of fear. I was almost at the pack house. Everywhere seemed quiet but some guards were still roaming around the pack house. I needed to find a way to sneak into my room. I would have confidently walked past the guards but I wasn't certain if they weren't aware of my absence. “Ohh Olivia, she would have been of great help to me right now,” I whispered.
I managed to sneak past the guards to the second balcony which was quite dark. My room was only two stones away from there. With extra carefulness of not making a sound, I finally reached the door to my room. “Awww.. finally,” I muttered silently in relief. I was in the last phase of this mission. Turning the door knob and getting into my room. But then, the door had this squeaky sound and if I did try to open it, it might just attract the attention of the guards a bit close to my corner.
I tried to open the door just a little bit inorder not to make anyone aware of it's squeaky sound. “You still haven't healed,” a male voice came from behind me. I froze in fear. My hands still on the door knob I tried not to breathe. Fear had gripped my whole being and sweat was all over me. It was at that moment I wished I could disappear into thin air. “Oh my!!” I exclaimed as I breathed in fear.
