Chapter 26: A Lie 6

Nadia's POV

With our hands wrapped tightly in each other's, we approached the little wooden apartment. It was Seraphina's, she had saved Jayden's life back in the woods. “I owe her my life cause she risked hers to save mine,” he'll always say. “Well, now I'm about to meet this witch Jayden always reminds me of,” I muttered to myself almost getting his attention.

As we moved closer to the petite house, my heartbeat ran faster than my footsteps.

I squeezed his hands more tightly. This got his attention quickly and he glanced at me. “You okay, honey?” he asked in a soothing voice. I froze after that question. I mean, I didn't know if I was, I didn't know how to react, I was really anxious, yet, I couldn't pinpoint the actual reason.

So, I gave a fake faint smile, “Yeahhh...yeahh, hehe, I'm okay,” I responded almost stuttering. Jayden's expression showed he was confused and wanted to ask more questions. But we were already at Seraphina's doorpost. He quickly looked at me, patted my head gently and his hands slowly running down from my ears to my cheek. He assured me that everything was going to be fine.

“One sec!” A lady answered almost immediately after Jayden had knocked gently at the wooden door. The voice was really feminine and calm. “That should be her,” I said calmly and Jayden responded with a smile. I silently ran my eyes through the whole environment while we waited for her. The house was awkwardly small and cute, “Uh-huh, too cute for a witch's lair,” my inner self contributed.

I got lost at such a beautiful sight- the arrangements of flowers around the log cabin, the fruit trees and weird looking plants. “Those must be herbs,” I thought.

“Hi there,” a friendly voice came directly from the door. I turned to see who it was.

“My gosh! She's so beautiful,” I exclaimed in my heart.

At that point I felt threatened, Jayden always talked about how much she saved his life, and now I could see why. She was so beautiful, she looked like a fairy from a movie, ocean eyes, curly hair, skin that shone so brightly and a beautiful smile that could lighten up your mood. She smiled and looked directly at me. “Hi there,” she said again.

I quickly turned to Jayden, then shifted my gaze to the fairy looking lady who's smile was slowly fading. “Nice to meet you, Seraphina,” I said as I raised my hand for a handshake. It was quite an inappropriate way of greeting at that moment, and I could sense the awkward atmosphere. But she gave in, she shook me with a smirk, which was weird.

I turned to Jayden again but slowly this time and he was smiling at her. “Wow, she's really a good friend” I said almost getting upset. “C'mon in guys,” she said as ashe signalled us to come into the house.

At that point, so much was going in my mind, was still wondering how a witch could be that friendly, why she has so many flowers in her space and lastly, what the smirk meant.

Shake it off Naida, you're just overthinking. Maybe you need to relax,” my wolf self whispered. Jayden grabbed my hands again as he walked into the house. I had just remembered that he left my hands few seconds ago, and that was when Seraphina had opened the door. Now, that's started to bother me but I had to calm down and not exaggerate things.

“Tea!” she dropped two white cups of tea she had offered us on the table. I gave a thank you smile while she glanced at me. But I hesitated to drink. Jayden had wrapped his hands around my arm and that was what I needed at that moment. It had a way of reassuring me nothing was going on. “What was my crazy self thinking?” I scolded myself inwardly.

“What a nice space you have here,” I said trying to strike a conversation with her. I really wanted to know if she was genuine, cause she looked really nice. “Thank you, it was my grandmother's,” she smiled, the chuckled as if she had remembered something -like a good, sweet memory. I bet she did.

She took a sip of her own tea and adjusted herself on the chair. “So Jayden, what brought you here and who's this pretty fellow by your side?” she said calmly as she turned to him with a smile. The transitioning of her gazes from me to Jayden was crazy. It quite made me feel uncomfortable but the fact that she called me pretty made everything okay. “A pretty woman called me pretty,” I blushed as I finally sipped the tea.

“Forgive me Sera,I failed to do a proper introduction,” he said as he placed his hands in mine. “This is the love of my life, Naida, we’ve been best friends since childhood and we were separated for sometime, when I left the pack but now, we are back together. Again.” he said as he smiled at me and I returned it with a bashful smile. And I quickly looked at Seraphina to get her expression as well as clear my doubts.

She gave a straight face, which was difficult to read. The stare she gave to Jayden showed that she wanted more information. “This brings us to why we're here,” he continued. “Ahaaaaa! Miss Fairy adjusted herself again, that was what she wanted to hear, not some boring love story” my wolf self said. I almost laughed out and miss Fairy would have noticed and would have also given a weird look again.

“Naida here already has a mate, Luciver but he's cruel and he dosen't deserve her!” I watched him as he poured his heartfelt explanation to his helper who hadn't said a word since the introduction. “Luciver, is the strongest werewolf in the pack and best evil, very evil and what he does is to hurt people…he hurts Naida,” he continued as his voice broke in genuineness of love and concern for me.

Seraphina maintained the silence after Jayden had finished speaking, she gently picked up her cup and drank the tea all at once. Both our eyes were in her and she has was quite aware of that. She dropped her cup and slowly looked up to Jayden and me. “So…long story short, what do you want me to do?” she asked as if she already knew our intentions.

“Sera,” Jayden calmly called her, but she didn't look at him or respond. “We..umm simply want you to you to break the mate bond between Naida and Luciver. If possible, annihilate him!” He snapped. Seraphina quickly turned her eyes to me immediately after Jayden said those words. And my eyes couldn't stand her sharp yet silent stare.

“What was he doing, we didn't agree we were going to kill Luciver,” I thought in confusion. “What do you think Naida? Is this what you want?” she firmly asked as she kept the stare. It was no longer the friendly fairy lady, I now saw a woman who meant business and who I felt could read my mind. The tension in the atmosphere heightened.

At that moment, I ignored everyone in that room and asked Miss Sera's question directly and intentionally to myself. “Is this what I really want…do I really want him dead, do I really hate him?” My heart had started racing, as both of them stared at me in anticipation for an answer.
