Best Laid Plans

Chapter 85

Karla’s POV

I was worried that Steven and I were overheard last night, but I didn’t scent anyone when we went outside to check. Steven and I were putting the last of our plans together and we are ready for tomorrow. I am proud of the little crew that we have set up. There are a total of 18 of us, and I think that we will do fine. Eight of us are the regular crew, me, my brother, Aria, Ashley, and Lyell. The other three are Aria’s brothers, and Ashley’s two brothers. The rest were rogues that were willing to help us with the promise of payment when we were done.

To placate them, we did sleep with a few of them just to bring them in line. They were willing to do anything to please us. We kept it to the three strongest men who were the team leaders. They each had two or three men under them. We were not worried about paying them later on, as some of them won’t even make it anyway. Plus, who are they going to tell? The werewolf council? They would land themselves right in jail for that. They get strung along most of the time, so they are used to it. The men were being fed, they had a place to stay, and they were all pretty happy right now. Life was better for them for agreeing to help us.

Plus, I didn’t have any money more money available to pay them to fight. I spent money getting them rooms at a nearby hotel, and they were always hungry. It was expensive to keep them in a good mood. We did what had to be done, and this needed to be done. I smiled as I think of what I am going to do to Evie. Everyone knows that I was going to be the one to end her. Steven has a bone to pick with Beau, and thenJake. He is still pissed about them demoting him, and banishing us. They took everything away from us, and they deserved to get punished for it.

“Aria, is everything actually ready to go for today?” I asked her.

“Yes, you have asked me that at least 5 times in the last 24-hours. Calm down, the leaders are armed, we couldn’t get any more than three guns, we didn’t have the money for it. Please we have the element of surprise on our side. They are never going to see us coming. We will come into the pack, and blend in with the rest of them. Plus, we are coming in at 3 p.m. which Lyell told us is her afternoon training time. he had asked a few of the warriors about her training schedule the day he was banished. He was going to pay her back when he came to get the car. So we knew that Evie, Jake, and Beau will all be out there at that time. We have already went over it, we all know our parts,” Aria snapped back at me. I had already asked her about it, just an hour ago, so I had no response to that. I knew that we were ready, but I was nervous about today. I didn’t want Jake to die, but I do not know how today is going to go.

Aria has been angry at me since we got banished. But we knew we needed to stick together in the human world for protection. They have hunters here too, and there is saftey in numbers. Her parents were still furious at her lying about the Luna with me, and they were giving her grief every day. Mine are too, so she wasn’t alone. We would all be glad to be back in our pack, with no worries on us. None of us wanted to go get jobs in the human world, but I have to say that we are enjoying the word of mouth that is building our business up. There are a lot of people who don’t trust their other half, and usually for good reason. This job was perfect for us, and when we needed a man to help us out with an investigation. Steven, or one of their brothers filled in to do it. We would give them a cut of the money, and things are going very well for us.

As soon as we get this done, I know that we will all feel better. Maybe we could go back to Dark Marsh. Alpha Charles was going to have to take the pack back over if Jake gets killed. He might be willing to lift our banishment, and allow us to come back into the pack. Only if he doesn't know that we had a hand in killing Jake and Evie. We will continue to run the business. It would be better for us to be closer to New Orleans as about sixty-five percent of our business is there. Plus, we could team up with more of our pack members to increase the size of our business. I was making plans for expanding, as we had done so well with the business so far.

We were quick, and we got them the proof that they needed, especially if they were married. The people who were engaged, or dating, just needed to know if their gut was telling them the truth. What they did with it after we were done, was between them. It was just unfortunate for our clients, that so far, no one that we have investigated had not been cheating. That was sad to me, that was the best, and worst, part of being marked I have heard. You know for a fact if your mate strays. There is no suspicion, you know exactly what is going on when that pain hits.

Mom said that there are ways around it, she has cheated on dad before, but he never knew. She always gave him something that would knock him out, and he slept through it. Mom didn’t do it often, but although she loved being a higher rank now, she wanted more. She would always go to the same bar that ranked wolves go to. She had done this once a month for at least the last 10 years, but so far no one wanted to take her off dads hands. I was not happy with her about it, but I understood where she was coming from. She was just an Omega before. She just wanted the status, and the financial security, of being mated to a ranked wolf.

It was time to go before we knew it. Lyell asked to borrow his grandfathers vehicle for the day to run an errand. So he was taking some of the rogues with him. We followed him out there, using three more vehicles. I wanted to use dad’s SUV, but he had left earlier to go to work. So we used my car, Stevens car and Aria’s parents SUV. We followed him to an area outside Moss Point and parked alongside his SUV. We all needed to be able to get the hell out of here if things don’t go our way.

Lyell seems both nervous, and excited right now. He had given the keys of the SUV to one of the leads to drive back to the city. He has done nothing but talk about that stupid car of his since we met. He wanted it back, and I understand why, but it is too flashy. I knew why he wanted it, he is a clear man whore. Ashley seemed excited about him getting it back today too. I just didn’t have the heart to tell them that it was a trap. We needed him to get us in, and we are going to take the SUV back to his grandfather for him. But we needed the distraction of him trying to take the car back forus to attack.

Lyell was not very smart about this. He didn’t think anything through. I was wondering when he was going to figure out that if the gates don’t open, how is he getting his car out? He was so excited about the possibility of being able to take it back, that he didn’t think about how he was actually going to get it out of here. We needed the distraction that he was going to cause. I don’t like him, so I don’t feel bad for him at all. He wanted his car back, and we said that we would help him. He is going to get his car back, he just won’t be leaving the pack with it. That is what we are going to be waiting for. His car to fire up and then start racing towards the gates. The only person who didn’t know about that, was Ashley herself.

I knew that she was planning on riding with him, and Lyell was not a fighter. I knew that he was planning on just leaving us behind. Like I said, he is a user, but this time, he will be the one being used. I am surprised that Ashley hasn’t figured it out yet. I am sure that once they reach the gates, she will clue in fast and feel bad about leaving us. Once everyone is dealing with them at the gates, it gives us time to come out, and deal with Evie and Beau. I wanted Jake hurt, but not dead. If he is willing to take me as his chosen, and mark me right then, he can live. I am not stupid, and I am not going to give him time to go back on his word.

I am not here to play with him. I am here to be his chosen, and to bear his pups. I will be the Luna of Dark Marsh, and this has to be done while he and his wolf are so upset that they don’t know what they are doing. I don’t care if he hates me. I don’t care if he treats me bad for the rest of our lives, because I will have won. I will have everything that I have ever dreamed of, as my child will one day be the Alpha of Dark Marsh. I can feel the pride of my new position already. We had already breached the wall. Climbing over it just fine, and were waiting in the trees for the sound we needed to hear.

Lyell knew that Lane would be hiding the keys in the Alpha desk. Lyell still had his set of keys to get in it. I guess Lane never thought that Lyell would ever have the balls to return here after he had been banned. As soon as they get to his car, we will all hear it start. It is a high performance machine. I am sure that moron will go ahead and rev it up to show Lane that he is taking his car back from him. As soon as we hear the engine revving, we will start our plan of finding them on the training ground.

We could see several of them out there training and sparring with each other, with not a worry in the world. I didn’t have a visual on Evie just yet, but I did see Jake and Beau. There is a blonde with them, and I believe that it is her, but she has her back to us, and her hoodie up. I won’t know until we get closer, but who else could it be? We will be heading right over to them as soon as we get the cue to start. I am so excited that my plan is in play, I am so close to having my dreams become a reality. We heard the car fire up, and we all started slowly climbing down to head to the training field. We needed to give time for the warriors to be called to the gate. As anticipated, they all started running that way. We gave them a little while to get further away before slipping out of the tree line. My plan is working perfectly.
