Chapter 547 Know Little About Him

Chapter 547 Know Little About Him

Maggie was absolutely livid, but despite her anger, she refused to leave and plopped herself down on the nearby couch.

"I'm staying to look after Daniel tonight. Your health is so delicate, you shouldn't overexert yourself."

Maggie continued, "You should know your place and stop revolving around a man all day."

Olivia was at a loss for words, unsure who Maggie was even insulting.

She raised their clasped hands for Maggie to see more clearly.

"You might have misunderstood something. It's not me clinging to him; it's him who won't let go of me."

Maggie was fuming, but having suffered too many losses in arguments with Olivia, she didn't know what to say and chose to stay silent.

Time ticked by, and Olivia's legs started to go numb from standing. Joseph came in a few times, eventually bringing a stool for Olivia, but he couldn't hold back any longer.

"Ms. Smith, it looks like Mr. Wilson isn't going to let go. Your health isn't great, and you can't stay here for too long. How about I bring a bed and some blankets over so you can lie down and rest for a bit?"

The hospital bed was quite spacious, and with Daniel lying on his stomach, there was no risk of him rolling over. The other side of the bed was mostly empty.

Olivia hesitated.

The people in the hospital already disliked her, and if she demanded special treatment, it would surely cause more resentment. But then she thought, there were already plenty of people who disliked her. What did it matter if a few more did? Her health was more important.

Having made up her mind, Olivia agreed to Joseph's suggestion.

Looking at Daniel's sleeping face, Olivia felt no discomfort.

After all, they had been married, shared a bed for so long, and had two children together. To say now that men and women shouldn't sleep in the same bed would be hypocritical.

Joseph brought over the blankets, and Olivia took off her shoes and climbed into bed next to Daniel.

Seeing Olivia's actions, Maggie stood up in a rage. "Do you have no shame? You're just his ex-wife. What right do you have to sleep next to him?"

Unlike Maggie's outburst, Olivia remained calm and even had the presence of mind to joke, "If you're tired too, I don't mind if you lie down. But Daniel might not be too happy about it."

Maggie's anger flared up, and she rushed over, trying to pull Olivia off the bed, but Olivia's next words stopped her in her tracks.

"If you want to wake him up, go ahead and throw a fit."

Maggie could only glare at Olivia. "I'll allow you to lie here, but you better not move."

Olivia pulled the blanket over herself and lay down comfortably. "We've done far worse things together. If I really wanted to do something, do you think you could stop me?"

Maggie couldn't stop her, but she was unwilling to give the two of them any alone time. She lowered her voice and cursed, "You really have no shame!"

After a whole day of turmoil, Olivia was indeed tired.

She had come to realize that Maggie was all talk and no action. Unfortunately for Maggie, Olivia's heart had become as hard as steel, and verbal attacks meant nothing to her.

"Stop arguing and let them rest," Joseph said, trying to defuse the situation.

But his words only made things worse.

Maggie pointed at Olivia. "You're just going to let them sleep together? What if someone sees? How would that look?"

"They were legally married and have children together. What's wrong with them sharing a bed?"

Even though Olivia and Daniel were divorced, in Joseph's mind, Olivia's status hadn't changed.

Marriage certificate or not, Daniel only ever acknowledged one Mrs. Wilson—Olivia.

Joseph looked at her helplessly, regretting that he had spoken up. "So, what do you suggest we do?"

Maggie couldn't come up with a solution and sulked. "This isn't fair. I want to sleep with them too!"

Joseph was baffled by her logic.

"Ms. Smith is exhausted and needs to rest. But Ms. Jade, you have plenty of options. It's best not to interfere with them."

Everyone could see the obvious, so why couldn't Maggie?

Daniel only had eyes for Olivia. Anyone else trying to come between them would only end up hurt.

Maggie, of course, wouldn't agree to this solution.

She wanted to say more, but Olivia, lying next to Daniel, had had enough.

"If you want to argue, take it outside. If you wake him up, who will take responsibility?"

Patients needed rest, and these two were arguing loudly at the door.

Olivia's tone was icy as she sat up in bed, her gaze towards Maggie filled with a threatening intensity.

For some reason, Maggie backed down when she met Olivia's eyes.

Why had Olivia's gaze become so sharp?

Joseph took the opportunity to slip out, but Maggie stayed, sitting stubbornly on the couch. "I said I would look after Daniel, and I'm not leaving!"

As long as she didn't cause a scene, Olivia didn't care what Maggie did.

The fluorescent lights in the room were bright. Olivia, in her undershirt, lay next to Daniel, feeling the warmth from his body.

Despite her exhaustion, Olivia didn't fall asleep immediately.

After an injury, the most critical time for complications was right after surgery.

The wound could become infected, and if it caused a fever, it needed to be treated promptly.

Olivia didn't dare sleep, but Maggie couldn't fight off her own drowsiness and yawned.

The room was comfortably warm. Olivia turned over and saw Maggie sprawled on the couch, clearly asleep.

She didn't say anything, but for the tenth time, she reached out to feel Daniel's forehead, relieved that he hadn't developed a fever all night.

Calming down, Olivia's mind was occupied with one thought.

The group sent to assassinate them this time used completely different methods from the previous attackers, suggesting they were from a different faction.

Olivia couldn't be sure, but her intuition told her so.

Her identity hadn't been exposed, and she hadn't made any significant moves recently. It was unlikely they were after her. It seemed more like they wanted to kill Daniel.

Only now did Olivia realize how little she truly knew about Daniel.
