Chapter 70: And I'm not Apologizing
Chapter 70: And I'm not Apologizing
Miles's POV
I flail my hands up and then crossed them behind my head as I felt we were deviating from the initial discussion.
Cole is the very reason why I haven't retaliated. He claims that since they're my foster parents, I shouldn't do anything that will make them rip off that title and render me powerless.
"You act all weak but I guess you have some super strength you're hiding right?"
"Why do you say so?" I asked walking pass him to take a seat.
"The fact that you can challenge Dad. Well he called me complaining and I had to put up some words for you just so he doesn't explode"
"That's outrageous Cole, he's not even worth being called a father! And I'm not apologizing to him" I protested knowing the next statement that will come out from his lips.
Those eras of wanting to be on a good page with him is over. I just don't know why he was fond of me even when I break the rules most times.
"Look miles" Cole pointed out eluding my thoughts and when I directed my eyes to look at him, I realized he was already sitting opposite me.
His fingers were fused together and I can tell it's another words of advice.
If he was here to talk to me about dad, then it's closed case.
When did we get here? First, it's his apology which triggers me to ask about Julius and I swear, I have a feeling that he wants me to be more curious and ask about this Julius.
"I get that you're pissed off by his attitude but we can't deny the fact that he's like a savior to us and we literally depend on him for adopting us and keeping us as his"
"That doesn't imply that I should stay quiet when there's a bad behavior" I countered fussing and looking away from him.
"You asked about Julius..." He said and I took a glimpse at him, nervous and longing to learn about the side of me that I might not know.
Goosebumps had already wear me as I swallowed, watching his every movement and those eyes of his that crinkles at a corner.
"Are you ready for that truth?"
I adjusted myself on the couch, wondering why he'd say that and leaving me in suspense.
"Go on Cole, you'd want to provide a reason for me to be grateful to dad" I pointed and he thinned his lips while running his fingers in his hair before settling his hands on his thighs.
"The truth is, your real name is..."
"Julius" I completed heaving a sigh as he seems taken aback by my quick respond.
"And you're..."
"A psychopath who have no emotions but to kill"
Cole gulped as he seems anxious as he rubbed the back of his neck. He needn't complete his statement, I have grown to understand that.
"Then why did you apologize for calling me the name?"
He lowered his eyes, his body viberate as he draws in a long breathe and said;
"Dad made us promise him that we never call you that and with a new name he believes you'd be different"
I threw my head to the back as my heart thumped, my eyes seems calculative as they stare at the plain wall behind my couch.
My hands grappled my thighs as I bite my cheeks. It's true but I don't want to still believe him.
"Then why couldn't I recall any memories?"
He heaved a deep sigh and said;
"He made a memory eraser do that for fear that you'd become a danger to the public, with that you wouldn't know who you are" he shoots up in the chair feeling sober as he narrates my biography in just a sitting.
That's horrible. I'm sure in my vision, I saw someone that looked like me. If I were really Julius, then the so called boy band, why has no one contacted me?
Rather, I receive threats, and attacks because I'm intervening in their business.
"Even I find it hard that she calls you Julius a member of some dangerous boy band"
I straighten myself on the couch, closed my eyes briefly and then nod as though I was following up but I was lost.
"Have you noticed anything about the boy band, if I belonged to one?"
"I barely know miles, because no one cares intervenes in your life but you usually like parties and stay out all night to cause a murder"
My hands curls into claws as I viberate where I sat. It's so inhumane of me and why did I hurt her?
Why do I host concerts just to have a virgin to bare our kids?
I need to put a stop to this.
I dart my gaze to him as his eyes danced in their sockets while his face grew paler as though telling this affects him more.
"How comes I'm not aware of the upcoming concert? Did my team kick me out because I don't recall anything or I'm not by their side?"
"Miles I think we need to stop here, it's the only details I have about you..."
"Really, when lives are at risk! You decided to do this to me!"
"I was protecting you? What difference would it make if I tell you?"
"A whole difference, I would have gained justice for the family of the victims, make up for the pains!" I retort standing up and through my hands on my head, feeling all wild and confused.
"Get arrested and eventually beheaded?"
"Yes? They get to see the criminal behind their pain"
"And you risk your life because you want to prove justice exist?"
I covered my face with a palm and then strolled to my glassy wall that faces Belle's house.
It's quiet just as it is for the night.
"At least, I won't have fooled her that she's wrong"
"You have a different life..."
"But the past will keep taunting me, how do expect me to be at peace?"
"I don't want to do this any longer" I furthered placing my palm on the glassy screen as though she's there.
"Maybe we should find the other team, if you want justice, they also need to have their take in every unlawful act made by them"
I turned to face him. He had stood up to meet me with a determined look and I was just speechless.
"Let's work together"
