Chapter 66 Crises

Lydia’s heart warmed as she reached out and grasped Lambert’s hand. “How did you even think of coming to the concert?”

Lambert glanced at her sideways, his tone tinged with sarcasm. “You’re already holding hands with another guy to come to the concert. Shouldn’t I be worried you’d be swayed by someone else?”

Lydia blushed and punched him lightly in the chest. “Nonsense! It just so happened that Andrew’s friend had some spare tickets, and they didn’t want them to go to waste…”

“Pffft! Only someone as naive as you would believe that.

Don’t you know the price for the front row tickets you’re in is over ten grand? Let alone they’re two adjacent seats!”

His words made Lydia hesitate. It did seem too coincidental. But Andrew shouldn’t have any other

intentions towards her, right?

For a moment, Lydia felt unsure again.

Seeing Lydia lost in thought, Lambert reached out and pulled her into a kiss, dominating and possessive.

If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t have stooped to attending a singer’s concert.

So, she owed him. And when it came to repayment, he’d choose his favorite method.

Perhaps the events of the day had surprised Lydia too much. When Lambert kissed her, instead of her usual resistance, she responded eagerly and passionately.

Her fiery lilac tongue ventured into Lambert’s mouth, quickly ensnared by his tongue.

Lips and tongues entwined, exchanging their most passionate emotions.

As the kiss ended, Lydia leaned against Lambert’s chest, breathing softly.

She glanced shyly ahead–there were still others in the car! Even though the divider between the front and back seats had been lowered the moment they got in.

Lambert pinched her delicate earlobe, calming his heart as he embraced her again. She was finally back in his arms.

A few days later, backstage at the NCTV studio.

It was bustling with activity.

Lydia, dressed smartly in work attire with her hair up, was making final preparations.

In half an hour, there would be a new product launch here!

The neatly hung sample garments adorned the backstage, luxurious and beautiful.

Looking at her handiwork, Lydia’s eyes glinted with confidence. This product launch would surely be a

success!

Lydia glanced at her wristwatch–only half an hour left.

The garments were all set, now it was just the final fittings for the models. How were they doing?

Lydia closed the fitting room door and headed towards the models‘ makeup and rest area.

Before she reached the door, her assistant Prima rushed over, her face filled with panic. “Ma’am,

something’s happened!”

Lydia’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s wrong? Take a deep breath and tell me slowly.”

“I don’t know what happened, but suddenly all the models started getting sick. It seems like food poisoning; they might not be able to go on stage. I suspect foul play.”

Lydia paled. “How many are affected?”

“All the models, every single one of them!”

Lydia bit her lip, her mind racing. Had she worked so hard on this product launch just for it to fail like

this? No, she couldn’t give up.

There was still half an hour. She had to find a solution.

Lydia’s mind quickly calmed down. Prima, who was waiting for her decision, looked at her anxiously.

“Prima, contact the hospital, get the models treated, and charge it to the company. Also, contact other

modeling agencies for replacements.”

“Yes! I’ll get on it right away!”

Príma hurried off, and Lydia dialed another number she was familiar with.

“Hello, Linda?”

“Amélie, what’s up? Why are you calling me today?”

“I need your help with something.”

“Oh?”

“Do you have any spare models available? I have a show in half an hour, and I’m desperate.”

“How many do you need?”

“About twenty or so.” Lydia thought for a moment, halving the number. Twenty models should suffice if

they double up on the runway.

“That many? But most of our models are booked today. There are only one or two slightly inferior ones left in the company. Amélie, I know you have high standards; they may not meet your requirements.”

Lydia felt crestfallen. “Forget it then. Maybe next time we can collaborate.”

With just one or two models of lower quality, even if they came, they would only drag down the quality of

her work.

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay. Goodbye.”

Lydia hung up, feeling even more despondent. Today was her debut after returning to the country. If it failed, it would have a fatal impact on her career!

Lydia was on the verge of despair, about to dial another number when her phone rang.

“Hello, this is Lydia. What’s up?” Lydia answered subconsciously.

Hearing the slight desolation and urgency in Lydia’s voice, Lambert furrowed his brow.

He remembered Lydia being excited and thrilled when he left in the morning.

According to the time, Lydia’s product launch hadn’t started yet. Something must have gone wrong.

It must be said that the logical reasoning abilities of business elites were strong. Even though Lydia hadn’t said anything, Lambert had already guessed a lot.

“Lydia, it’s me. What’s happened at the launch?”

Hearing Lambert’s voice, Lydia felt inexplicably aggrieved. “I don’t know what’s going on. All the models suddenly got food poisoning, and there’s only half an hour until the show starts. I haven’t found replacements yet. Let’s not talk about it now; I’ll ask Prima about the situation.”

After saying that, Lydia hung up, and Lambert didn’t get angry.

He pondered the oddity of the situation. The models collectively falling ill before the launch clearly indicated someone sabotaging Lydia’s event.

But who would be against Lydia?

Lambert stood up from his desk.

Now wasn’t the time for pondering. It seemed he needed Lennon’s help again!

Meanwhile, Lydia, after hanging up the phone, felt slightly calmer.

She quickly called other modeling agencies she knew, but unfortunately, either their schedules didn’t match or they didn’t have anyone available.

The situation was mostly the same with Prima.

The better models were already booked, and the ones left either didn’t meet the standards or couldn’t

make it for various reasons.

Upon hearing this news, Lydia felt almost hopeless. It seemed like the launch was doomed to fail. The

only option seemed to be postponement.

Prima was on the verge of tears. “Ma’am, someone must be sabotaging us. These people are despicable!”

“Alright, panicking won’t help. Let’s prepare to reschedule the event.”

“But there are so many media outlets here today, and we’ve already done the pre–event promotion…”

No one understood better than Prima the efforts they’d put in recently.

Everyone had been working overtime to prepare for this product launch.

They’d poured so much energy and money into this debut.

If it didn’t go through, not only would their studio’s reputation suffer, but also it would be hard to find media willing to cooperate with them in the future.

After all, no one liked a flip–flopping company!

Prima felt extremely distressed, and Lydia wasn’t faring any better. The thought of her efforts for this

debut was heartbreaking.

Almost every piece of clothing was personally crafted by her. These designs were like her children, and now, they were on the brink of being stillborn on this stage.

“Ma’am, we have ten minutes left. The assistant director has been urging us; what should we do?”

Lydia sat dejectedly in the fitting room chair, covering her face with her hands. Tears glistened at her fingertips. After a long while, she spoke hoarsely, “Cancel the launch…”

Clang!

The door of the fitting room was suddenly pushed open, and tall models filed in one by one, accompanied by a seductive male voice.

“Hurry up! Speed it up, everyone! The launch starts in ten minutes. Find your outfits and get changed!”
