Chapter 48 I love you!
Lydia dialed Maggie’s number first. Maggie sounded startled when she answered, then her tone turned sour. “Why are you calling me?”
“It’s nothing. I just wanted to thank you for the compensation. Harlan has already given the money. Since that’s settled, those crazy videos I have of you are useless now. So, I’ve decided to give them back to you.” Lydia’s tone remained calm.
“You’re being so generous?” Maggie frowned, clearly not believing Lydia’s words.
“Whether you believe it or not is up to you. Since I’m short on time, you better make up your mind quickly. Today at 1 PM, Queen Hotel, second floor. Whether you come or not is your choice.” Lydia hung up the phone, feeling confident that Maggie would show up. Even if it wasn’t for the videos, she would come to
see what Lydia was up to.
Indeed, Lydia’s guess was correct. Maggie did plan to check the situation. Moreover, she intended to use this incident to tarnish Lydia’s reputation, portraying her as a seemingly innocent but internally dark
woman.
Threatening her in secret with videos would only serve to reinforce this narrative. Reporters would only
cover Lydia as someone who blackmails her own sister.
With this plan in mind, Maggie secretly felt triumphant. “Lydia, you’ve walked right into this. Don’t blame
me for not being polite!”
Subsequently, Maggie quickly contacted the reporters and arranged for the filming time. Meanwhile, completely unaware of Maggie’s actions, Lydia was dialing Ron’s number.
Ron was ecstatic that Lydia had reached out to him. He saw this as his chance, believing he could further develop his relationship with Lydia.
After all, he was her first love. There’s always a mysterious sentiment attached to one’s first love, so Ron
was convinced Lydia must be wavering.
“Lydia, I’m glad you called. Is there something you need?” Ron tried to keep his voice gentle.
Lydia suppressed her disgust for Ron and his flattery. “Can’t I call you without a reason?”
“Of course you can! I’m just worried about you. I heard a few days ago that Maggie caused trouble at your
place. Both Dad and I scolded her, so she shouldn’t dare to act recklessly again!”
“Well, I didn’t call you today because of Maggie. I just want to talk to you alone.”
Ron was overjoyed. “Lydia, have you made up your mind?”
But Lydia didn’t want to waste any more time on the phone with him. Her tone turned cold. “Today at 1

PM, Queen Hotel, second floor. Be on time.”
“Okay! I’ll be there on time!”
After hanging up, Lydia breathed a sigh of relief. She wondered what expressions the two would have
when they met.
Based on her investigation into Maggie over the past few days, she might hide and eavesdrop on Maggie
and Ron’s conversation first.
Then, let them fight each other! That way, they probably wouldn’t have much time to bother her anymore!
At twelve fifty in the afternoon, a Ferrari stopped at the entrance of the Queen Hotel.
Ron got out of the car and checked his appearance in the car’s reflection before entering the hotel,
satisfied.
For his date with Lydia, Ron had bought a new suit and even brought out his favorite car.
He thought that after dinner, perhaps he could take Lydia for a ride to strengthen their bond.
After all, women need to be pampered!
Unbeknownst to him, he was unwittingly falling into Lydia’s trap.
The second floor of the Queen Hotel was a café, with seats separated by flowers and plants, creating a
romantic atmosphere. This was a favorite spot for lovers.
When Ron arrived, he immediately saw Lydia sitting there, and his eyes lit up.
She was wearing a knee–length crimson dress today, which accentuated her already snow–white skin like beautiful jade.
The well–fitted dress outlined her graceful figure, with her long hair cascading elegantly behind her. Even sitting there, she was mesmerizing.
Ron couldn’t help but tidy up his clothes again before walking over to where Lydia was sitting.
“Sorry for being late!”
Ron apologized sincerely, but Lydia’s gaze remained cold. “It’s nothing. I arrived early. Please, take a seat.
Ron sat opposite her, completely unaware that a pair of eyes were now watching them intently!
Maggie also saw Lydia as soon as she arrived on the floor. Just as she was about to approach, she was surprised to see Ron there too!
She paused for a moment, thinking about the phone call Lydia had made to her. Was it intentional?

With a cold snort, Maggie wanted to see what tricks Lydia was up to.
So, she quietly took a seat behind them, back to back with Ron, separated only by a row of flowers.
Even though they couldn’t see each other, they could hear clearly.
The moment Maggie appeared, Lydia’s gaze caught her. But she didn’t react, only subtly curved her lips.
Seeing this smile, Ron became more convinced of his thoughts. If he tried harder, Lydia, his first love, would surely soften towards him.
So, Ron eagerly pushed a new dessert towards Lydia. “Lydia, try this. I remember you love vanilla cake.”
Lydia neither accepted nor refused, letting the dessert sit in front of her. Then she lowered her eyes. “You
remember?”
“I remember! I remember everything about you clearly. In fact, all these years, I never forgot you. I love you!” Ron’s heart raced with joy. But Lydia’s expression made him realize something was amiss.
She picked up the fork and stabbed the cake, then put a piece into her mouth. It tasted as bad as ever!
Yes! She never actually liked vanilla cake.
She only said she did because Ron liked it. This man who professed love for her didn’t even know her
taste!
Heh, he’s not even good at acting!
No, it’s more like he doesn’t care enough!
As Lydia internally mocked him, Ron’s face changed, hurriedly defending himself. “It’s not like that,
Lydia. I was foolish back then. You know, men are always susceptible to temptation. I never wanted to
harm you. All those ideas were from that vile woman, Maggie!”
Across the flowers, Maggie’s nails dug into her palms at Ron’s words.
She clenched her teeth, wide–eyed, waiting to hear what else he would say, even though she knew it
might hurt her more.
Lydia’s tone remained indifferent. “Is that so? Even if it was her idea, you were still involved, weren’t you? Your behavior wasn’t any better than Maggie’s!”
As soon as Lydia finished speaking, she heard a slap. Ron slapped himself.
“Lydia, I was wrong! I was blinded by greed back then, that’s why I did those cruel things to you. But now, I truly realize my mistake!”
Lydia remained silent, calmly stirring her coffee. After a while, she put down the spoon and looked up at Ron. “Have you regretted these years?”

“I have! I’ve regretted it for a long time. People only realize what they’ve lost after it’s gone. When you disappeared, it felt like there was a hole in my heart. I finally understood that I had fallen in love with you long ago. Lydia, I know I was wrong about everything. As long as you can forgive me, I’ll do anything!
Please forgive me!”
Lydia looked at him with a smile that wasn’t a smile. “Forgive you? Ron, if I remember correctly, you and
Maggie haven’t divorced, have you? I don’t want to commit bigamy!”
Ron was stunned, but joy surged in his heart. Did her words mean she agreed? Was she just hesitant because of his marriage to Maggie?
Thinking this, Ron immediately assured her, “No! As long as you agree, I’ll divorce Maggie right away!”
“Ron! You want to divorce me?!”
A thunderous roar filled the air, and Ron looked up to see Maggie looking utterly devastated.
