"I'm her mother, of course, I know something," said Kira in response to Aneska's unconcealed surprised expression.
Kira's words reminded Aneska of the new wound on Edwin's leg. The man looked normal when he walked, he should have had a slight limp, but Aneska just realized that Edwin was trying to look fine. But she couldn't hide it from Kira, who had a mother's instincts.
"Not the second or third time, this is the umpteenth time," continued Kira as if telling Aneska about the scars around Edwin's body.
Aneska felt strange about the scars but did not ask Edwin why. But if Kira said that, what did he mean?
"It will happen again," Kira confirmed.
Fall silent. Aneska didn't know what to answer. However, Kira's words this time were like a warning to Aneska.
"So I ask for your help, Aneska," said Kira with a sad look.
After all, Kira is Edwin's mother, the woman who gave birth and raised Edwin with great struggle amidst difficulties and trials of wealth. Aneska knows, that being a mother is not an easy thing, whatever the circumstances, rich or poor, being a mother is something difficult, and no mother does not love her child, whatever their attitude.
"I will try my best," said Aneska to calm Kira.
The woman smiled and breathed a sigh of relief.
"I was relieved to hear that, especially when I found out you were a doctor. "You don't need to worry, I will pay for your services," said Kira.
"Oh, that's not necessary," Aneska interrupted quickly when she heard Kira's words. "I didn't do it for anything in return," he continued, and looked at Kira. “I'm glad I can do it when I want to stop for a moment, so Mom doesn't have to. Besides, it's my job to look after Edwin, isn't it?”
Aneska is aware of her role as a wife even though it is still not officially official for her. Several things still make Aneska doubtful about Edwin's status and relationship. But it looks like Aneska won't be able to go back to the past again.
Kira smiled gently while nodding slowly.
“Thank you, Aneska. You are the nicest girl I met of all the girls who came to see Edwin," said Kira.
Once again, again, and again, Aneska looked at Kira. Many questions crossed Aneska's mind as soon as Kira said girl, or another girl, and so on. There was also curiosity about Mikha, Chery, and several women who greeted them at the mall at that time.
As if he understood the meaning of Aneska's gaze, Kira said a short 'ah' and then laughed a little, which made Aneska even more confused with a frown on her forehead.
"Sorry, I'm not good at keeping secrets," Kira admitted after stopping laughing.
Aneska waited, hoping that Kira would tell her something, at least about Micah and Edwin's relationship, as well as the connection between the words of the woman who accused Aneska of having to die. This remains in Aneska's memory, but she cannot share it with Edwin.
“You want to know. Of all the girls who come to Edwin, there are none here except you, right?”
Aneska nodded briefly, and Kira smiled again.
"I'll tell you slowly, so listen carefully," Kira said.
Once again Aneska nodded. The girl was ready to listen to a story that might provide important information.
“Hm. Who should I start with, huh?” Kira thought for a moment. "Oh, just from Micah," said Kira later.
Aneska didn't care who would open the story, what was certain was that Aneska hoped that Micah would come first, and when Kira said that the girl felt relieved.
“I know Edwin will not say anything about his past relationships. But I'll tell you," Kira started. "Micah is still connected to me. Giana is my cousin, so Mikha is automatically Edwin's cousin. They are only two years apart in age, of course, Edwin is older," said Kira.
Taking a deep breath, Kira seemed to be dreaming of the past, and Kira's face turned cloudy, there was absolutely no light, no smile, very different from his figure a few seconds ago.
“They almost see each other every day. Micah, with his cheerful and innocent nature, is considered Edwin's younger brother. But as they got older, where romantic feelings were present, they got into quite serious conflicts, and from what I heard, one of Edwin's female friends died." Kira continued the story.
At the end of the story, Kira told, Aneska to fall silent. That's why Micah said someone died. However, what does this have to do with Aneska?
“I don't know the specifics, but… they weren't the only ones involved.”
Aneska's forehead frowned at Kira's words this time.
Aren't they the only ones involved? Does that mean there are other people? Aneska thought.
“I don't know what happened because the case was closed tightly, then left like that, considered an ordinary case. However, since then Edwin's attitude has changed. Basically, Edwin's attitude was cold, but not as bad as now. Sometimes he laughed and even acted warmly, but since that incident, his attitude changed drastically, especially towards Alendra.
Once again, a new question emerged in Aneska's mind at the end of Kira's words.
Why did Edwin's attitude change, especially towards Alendra, his own father?
"As far as I know, Alendra helped with this case. With all the abilities and strength that Alendra has, it's not surprising that this case was closed like a normal case, but I'm sure it wasn't just Alendra who was involved but also other people. At least I wouldn't be surprised if there was influence from Alendra."
Aneska was still listening, every word Kira said produced new questions like puzzle pieces, or maybe a list of questions that Aneska had to find answers to.
“That was the beginning of the child and father being cold. Even so, Alendra is still Edwin's father, and vice versa. There are times when they are together and cooperate. I'm fine as long as they're together, but what I'm more worried about is Edwin running away."
Once again, over and over again, Aneska directed her gaze towards Kira as soon as those words ended.
What escape?
Aneska wanted to ask, but without asking Kira would explain it, so Aneska just said it silently.
"You will soon know what escape is, for example the wound," Kira said in a low voice.
Aneska understands it a little but doesn't have a clear picture yet. So the girl thought maybe time would tell like Kira said.
“It's not so bad for Micah, what's worse is Jesica. It wasn't his attitude, but the influence that caused Edwin's injury."
This time, Kira looked at Aneska with eyes that were so serious, sharp, and dark as if she was holding back anger. Aneska wanted to know, but Kira seemed to put up a wall to limit questions about this.
Who is Jessica?
