Chapter 46 He is a Monster!
Chapter 46
Sophie's POV
"Let go of me," I said, trying to wriggle my hands free from his grip. The coldness of his touch sent a shiver down my spine, and I fought against the wave of dizziness that threatened to consume me.
"Tell me you love me, then I will let go," he replied, his voice low and insistent, as if he truly believed he could manipulate me into submission.
"Over my dead body," I spat back, the words laced with venom. "I will never love you, Alex. Let me repeat it for your fucking ears: it's Julian I love."
A cruel smile flickered across his face, but it quickly faded. "It's like you really don't know what's happening here. Julian wants you out of his life."
His words sliced through me, sharper than any blade. I kicked him hard in the groin, and he released me with a grunt of pain. Seizing the moment, I bolted up the stairs. Each step felt unsteady, my head spinning. It was probably the effects of the spiked drink. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, a frantic rhythm of fear and anger.
As I reached the top of the stairs, I paused for a moment, grappling with the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. How could Alex do this to me? He had used me, manipulated me, collided with Victoria to ruin me and he claimed to love me. i remember when he had kissed, hugged me, it was all intentional, a calculated move to capture the moment on camera. He was a monster, a creature that belonged in an evil forest.
I glanced back down the staircase, half-expecting him to follow me, to continue his twisted pursuit. But for now, he seemed to have retreated, leaving me alone with my thoughts. I took a deep breath, summoning all my strength. Julian was really hurt; he had thought it was true. But I couldn’t blame him; Alex and Victoria had set the stage perfectly, using manipulated evidence to twist our reality.
Pushing those thoughts aside, I went into my room and hastily packed a few clothes, shoes, and heels into a suitcase.
As I headed downstairs, the sound of my suitcase rolling over the wooden steps echoed in the silence. Suddenly, Alex stepped into view, blocking my path. "Is this all your clothes?" he asked, a smirk creeping onto his face as he moved closer to me.
"Alex, stay away from me," I warned, my heart racing as I dragged my suitcase, desperate to escape his presence.
He made to move closer, and in a split second, I snatched a knife from the table beside me, gripping it tightly. "I swear, if you come any closer, I will stab you," I said, holding the knife aloft, the blade glinting ominously. My voice was steady, but inside, adrenaline surged through my veins.
His smirk faltered, replaced by a look of surprise, then of what i can't even pinpoint, was it anger? He doesn't deserve to be angry. "You think that’s going to scare me? You’re just a scared little girl," he taunted, trying to regain control of the situation.
"Maybe," I shot back, my resolve hardening. "But I’m not afraid to defend myself, Alex. You’ve crossed a line, and I won’t let you intimidate me any longer."
I could see the wheels turning in his mind, calculating his next move. He took a step back as he assessed the situation. "You’re making a mistake, Sophie. You can’t just run away from this. You think Julian will protect you? He’s not the knight in shining armor you believe him to be. And your marriage was only a contract, you are just like me, who got into a relationship because of money."
His words hit me harder than I cared to admit, but I couldn’t let him see my vulnerability. "I don’t need saving, Alex. I need to get away from you. Our marriage might be a contract marriage but i love him."
With that, I pushed past him, dragging my suitcase behind me. I made my way to the front door, my heart pounding in my chest.
But just as I reached for the doorknob, Alex lunged forward, grabbing my arm. The knife trembled in my hand, but I steadied it, ready to defend myself. "You’re not going anywhere without me," he growled, his grip tightening.
"Let go of me!" I shouted, my voice ringing through the empty hallway.
In that moment, something in me snapped. I thrust the knife forward, not to harm him, but to create space. "If you don’t let go right now, I will make you regret it," I warned, my voice low and steady.
He hesitated, the fury in his eyes clashing with a flicker of doubt. Finally, he released my arm, stepping back with a mix of anger and disbelief. "You’re going to regret this, Sophie. You can’t run from me. I will find you."
But I wouldn’t let fear take hold. I opened the door and stepped outside, the cool night air hitting my face like a refreshing splash of reality. I took a deep breath, grounding myself in the moment. I was free, at least for now, and I wouldn’t let Alex’s threats define me.
I glanced back at the house, the darkness looming behind me as tears streamed down my face. I dragged my suitcase towards the gate but was stopped by my driver. "Mr. Blackwood asked me to drop you off at your house, because it's dark already."
I was speechless; Julian still cared. I wondered where he had gone at this late hour, but I wasn't going to let Victoria and Alex think they had succeeded. No, never! I wiped the tears off my face as the driver put the suitcase in the boot and opened the door for me.
"Take me to Victoria's house,"
