Chapter 68
“Max, I heard the Conway Group held a charity dinner. I wanted to do my bit for those patients, but I wasn’t qualified. Do you have an invite? Can you take me?”
He rarely went to this kind of charity dinner.
In these seven years, he only showed up three times.
Going to that kind of place, people usually either brought a work secretary or a professional female companion, or they brought a girlfriend, wife, or a family member.

According to Maxwell’s personality, as long as he showed up, the person he brought to this kind of event was definitely Stephanie.
These seven years, at these events, the only person by his side was Stephanie.
Right now, he and Stephanie hadn’t ended the cooling–off period. Maxwell had wanted to turn Roxanne down, but.
For some reason, the image of Stephanie and Patrick leaning together behind the ripple glass door in the Northpine Hospital ward popped up in his mind again.
Lips pressed together, a strange feeling came over me.
Then, he replied to Roxanne-
“Sure.”

Time passed slowly.
On the other side, Northpine Hospital.
Stephanie was talking with Bradley about the next session.
Her phone buzzed, and a new message came in.
She took a look, it was a charity dinner invitation.
Then the door of the ward was pushed open.
Jeremiah rushed in.
“What’s wrong?” Stephanie asked curiously.
Bradley over there heard that Stephanie had something going on, so he went to take care of other stuff first.
After hanging up the call, Stephanie looked at Jeremiah.
Jeremiah sat down and said, “Your body…”
Hesitated and looked really conflicted.
“I’ll go over.” Before Jeremiah could hesitate and say it, Stephanie already spoke.
“Huh?” Jeremiah was obviously confused, “You knew what I was going to say?”
Stephanie handed the phone to Jeremiah.
On the “Serena” card, the charity dinner invitation was already opened.
It was invited under the name of the Conway Group at 7 pm tomorrow night.

If this message got to Serena’s phone, it meant Jeremiah didn’t wake up his family.
“The Ethereal Voice” she had to get it, the charity dinner invitation was already in her hands, she had to go.
Jeremiah hesitated for a moment and said, “Well, it’s a bit complicated.”
Stephanie looked at Jeremiah inquiringly.
Jeremiah scratched his head, “Well, my grandpa thought I liked you, and he would go too, so…”
Stephanie smiled and said, “Then you need to help me prepare a gift for your grandpa that’s not too flashy but still polite.”
“You can still laugh!” Jeremiah really felt overwhelmed.
The others were easy to deal with. Even the oldest and the second oldest at home just made him a bit annoyed, but if he tried, he could still get something out of it. As for his dad, he was just someone who muddled along and waited to die.
But Garrett…
That was a tough guy who built up the Conway Group.
How could Stephanie not know.
The Conway family was one of the three big names in Haraville.
Garrett had two daughters and two sons. Jeremiah’s father was the second son. The older brother didn’t get a chance to start a family before he passed away. Jeremiah’s father felt he wasn’t very capable, so he just liked pretty women and having kids.

Chapter B
These years, Jeremiah’s dad changed wives a few times and had three sons, each with a different mom.
Jeremiah’s mom was his dad’s last wife, came into the family late, and had him late too.
Later, Garrett said Jeremiah’s dad’s way wasn’t good, so his dad didn’t look for anyone new. That means his dad didn’t do the illegitimate kids thing, or else Jeremiah might have had some more brothers.
Jeremiah’s two aunts and the sisters in the family also got involved in the Conway Group’s business, but in the end, the person in charge of the Humphrey Group was still picked from Jeremiah and the other two.
Stephanie was tied to “The Ethereal Voice” and Conway Entertainment, which meant she was on the same side as Jeremiah. Plus, Jeremiah had already helped her a lot, so she needed to give back
too.
She was going to take care of this.
Jeremiah understood what Stephanie was thinking and didn’t make a fuss.
“I’ll get the dress and the gift ready,” Jeremiah said. “I’ll pick you up tomorrow.”
Jeremiah paused for a moment, then said seriously, “Once I kick those two out and take over, the Conway Group will have a share for you.”
Stephanie didn’t say she wanted it or not, she just told Jeremiah to get it ready.
By the way, the legal department said, “The ‘A Glimmer of Love‘ lawyer’s letter was already sent successfully.”
Jeremiah said something and then left in a hurry.
