Chapter261
Jennifer said, “I know you might not want to see Maxwell, but do you want to come see the two of us, just to talk about the divorce stuff.”
So, Stephanie came over.
She came over with McKayla and was holding Belinda.
Belinda went to McKayla’s office to hang out with her, and Stephanie came to Leonard’s hospital room.
Maxwell was right at the door of the hospital room, but the old couple wouldn’t let him in.
When he saw Stephanie, he wanted to say something, but Stephanie didn’t pay any attention to him and just walked straight into the hospital room and closed the door
Only Maxwell was left standing outside the door, looking at the tightly closed hospital room door, feeling really sad.
In the hospital room.
Leonard was already awake.
“Steph, you’re here,” Leonard said weakly.
Stephanie stood here, feeling complicated.
Finally, she nodded and called out, “Sir Humphrey.”
It wasn’t “grandpa” like Maxwell called him, it was “Sir Humphrey.”

This time, the old couple also noticed this way of addressing them.
Both of them felt helpless.
The three of them all went silent.
But in the end, I still spoke.
After all, this time she came over to talk about the divorce because of
what Jennifer said.
Of course, there was also the reason of visiting, but that wasn’t the main thing.
She was already divorced from Maxwell, and his family would just be his family from now on.
There wasn’t any problem with the other stuff. The money and things she was supposed to get, she didn’t act pretentious and refuse them. Even though she and Maxwell signed a prenup when they got married, and the agreement protected the company’s interests, and she and him only had a one–year marriage, those things were what she deserved.
It’s just that the old members of the Shelton family, the old couple still let her talk it over with Maxwell.
“Steph, that’s company business. The two of us stopped dealing with company stuff a long time ago.”
Stephanie was helpless.
Finally, before Stephanie left, Leonard said, “Steph, in the Humphrey family, we only recognized you as our granddaughter–in–law. That Roxanne, I would never let her in!”
Stephanie lowered her eyes a little and didn’t say anything.

She wasn’t involved with Maxwell anymore, so how the Humphrey family saw her had nothing to do with her.
This visit was already her last bit of kindness to the Humphrey family.
Thinking about it, Stephanie opened the door and walked out.
Maxwell was just standing outside the door.
He looked a lot more worn out, his eyes a bit red, just looking at her like that.
“I think we could have a good talk now,” he said.
Stephanie didn’t look at him, but looked off to the side, avoiding his eyes.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” Stephanie said. “I just wanted the Shelton family’s stuff back.”
Maxwell lowered his eyes and looked at Stephanie, who didn’t even glance at him.
“I can’t give it to you,” he said.
He was afraid that if he gave her the Shelton family’s stuff, she really would leave.
“Maxwell.” Stephanie looked up and finally looked at him. “You promised me it was mine, and also, in our divorce agreement, it said I had the right to take it with me.”
Maxwell looked at her/sadly and said, “Then let’s go through the lawsuit process.”
Let him get through these five months.
