The last text he sent her said he might have some trouble lately and might not contact her for a long time.
And he already took care of those people.
“Damn it!”
Roxanne was angry.
“Where was it cleaned up!”
Roxanne muttered under her breath, watching the news on TV. The person who got hit by the car was still being rescued, and it wasn’t clear if they’d make it.
And they already started hunting him down.
Even if I barely got away, it’d be hard to move around here from now
Not to mention they were already searching for him.
“Good thing it rained hard. Hope it washed away some traces,” Roxanne said softly.
Thinking about it, Roxanne lay back down on the bed.
I didn’t know how Maxwell was doing now.
“Tomorrow, they should be able to get the divorce certificate smoothly, right?” Roxanne muttered to herself.
She already had it all planned out, once they got their divorce papers.

she would marry Maxwell.
This was her “last wish,” and Maxwell would probably say yes.
So, she was Mrs. Humphrey now!
Thinking about it, Roxanne had a longing smile on her face.

Heavy rain washed over the city.
The whole world was wet.
Patrick and McKayla first took Stephanie back to the rental.
Earlier. Stephanie took a cab over, so her car was still here.
“Should I stay with you?” McKayla asked worriedly.
Stephanie shook her head.
“It’s okay, you got scared today too. Go home, take a hot bath, get a good sleep, and don’t get sick.” Stephanie reminded.
McKayla nodded, yeah, she was also afraid she might have a nightmare at night and scare Stephanie.
“Then we left first. Call me if anything comes up,” McKayla said worriedly.
Stephanic smiled and nodded, saying again that she was fine.
She stood here alone for a while until she watched the brother and sister drive away.
Finally, she slowly turned around and walked tiredly to the elevator.

On the other side, Edgar asked carefully, “Mr. Humphrey, where are
we going now?”
Maxwell didn’t know how to answer.
Edgar was upset too.
Right at that moment…
“Buzz buzz buzz…”
Maxwell’s phone started vibrating.
He took out his phone and saw it was a call from Roxanne.
He kind of didn’t want to answer.
But then he remembered something, and he still touched the answer button.
“Max.” Roxanne’s timid voice came through the phone.
“Mm.” he replied.
“Where are you now?” Roxanne kept asking..
“On the car.” Maxwell answered calmly.
“You weren’t with Stephanie, right?” Roxanne asked carefully. “I saw something online, it said… you had dinner with her last night.”
“No, I was with Edgar,” Maxwell said.
Edgar also spoke up at the right time: “Ms. Gregg, we were on our way back.”

Roxanne finally looked like she let out a sigh of relief.
Then, she said shyly, “Sorry, Max, I was still a little bit jealous.”
Maxwell didn’t answer, just looked at the heavy rain outside the car window.
“Max, what did she say? Was she willing to get the divorce papers with you?” Roxanne paused for a moment and then kept asking.
“Mm.” Maxwell replied.
“That’s good enough,” Roxanne said.
Then, there was silence again.
Finally, Roxanne said, “Max, where are you going? Do you want me to go with you tonight?”
Maxwell lowered his eyes a little: “Something happened today, I want to be alone for a while.”
“Oh, okay,” Roxanne said, “Max, you take good care of yourself.”
“Yeah,” Maxwell answered again, then hung up the phone.
After dealing with Roxanne, Maxwell felt a bit tired.
This day seemed especially long.
Maybach was still driving in the rain.
“Go to Hill Villa,” Maxwell said to Edgar.
“Okay, Mr. Humphrey.” Edgar changed direction and headed for Hill Villa.
Arrived soon.

Maxwell got out of the car, walked through the yard, opened the front. door, and then turned on all the lights in the house.
But still felt empty.
He didn’t go to their master bedroom, but went straight to the couch and lay down.
Looking at the pale ceiling, he felt a little dazed.
It felt like this wasn’t the real world.
“Buzz.”
The phone vibrated.
Maxwell took out his phone and saw that the time had passed midnight.
Their divorce cooling–off period was over.
This night was bound to be a sleepless one for many people.
The police were actively searching.
The hospital worked overnight to save him.
Roxanne secretly went to find out the news from the hospital.
Jeremiah didn’t dare to call Stephanie, so he reached out to McKayla. After he got the news from McKayla, he was still pretty worried.
He walked around the room and finally decided to deal with some company stuff to case his anxiety.
