Chapter 191
She held both of Belinda’s hands and sal overthink it. How
“Don’t
about we have tomato and sausage risotto later? I’ll make it for you. I saw online that you can use rice and beef brisket to make it look like Cinnamoroll.”
“Okay, okay!” Belinda laughed. She loved eating food Stephanie made. herself!
The two talked it over, then they both got back in the car together.
The car started and took the mother and daughter away from here.
“Mr. Humphrey, should we follow them?” Edgar was driving.
Maxwell just shook his head.
He didn’t know why he came over, maybe he just wanted to see her.
But he knew Stephanie didn’t want to see him.
She was still mad.
The laughter between the mother and daughter still seemed to linger in his ears. It was just a few words, but it made him sad.
She didn’t deny what Belinda said.
And…
Tomato and sausage risotto.
She hadn’t done it for him for a long time.

It wasn’t just tomato and sausage risotto, there was a lot more.
In the past, no matter how late he got home, she would wait for him- and make a whole table of homemade dishes for him.
She always seemed to make him feel safe and warm.
But…
Maxwell closed his eyes.
Those days felt like they were a really, really long time ago.
“How many days are left in the cooling–off period?” Maxwell asked.
Edgar knew this by heart: “Mr. Humphrey, today was the 28th day. In two more days, you and Mrs. Humphrey could go get your divorce papers.”
Maxwell didn’t respond. Edgar glanced at him in the rearview mirror, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Does Mr. Humphrey have a new idea?”
The next moment, Maxwell in the back seat opened his eyes and looked at Edgar in the mirror.
Edgar got it right away and looked away.
“Sorry, Mr. Humphrey.” Edgar said. “I talked too much.”
Maxwell looked away. He didn’t really blame anyone, just looked out the car window.
It was the time when kindergarten was over, and there were a lot of people coming and going.
They were all here to pick up their kids.

Watching couples walk out hand in hand with their kids, all smiling. Maxwell felt werd.
“Edgar, how many years have you stayed by my side?” Maxwell asked.
Edgar, it was Edgar’s name.
“Mr. Humphrey. I was with you when you took over the company at 22. it’s been 6 years now.” Edgar answered.
6 years.
But Stephanie had been with him for 7 years.
7 years went by.
Thousands of days and nights.
Maxwell looked out the car window.
“Take me to have tomato and sausage risotto, to the place you’ve been to.” he said.
“Yes!” Edgar started the car right away.
The other side.
Stephanie drove Belinda to the rental house.
Looking at Belinda seriously playing with the puzzle in the rearview mirror, Stephanie felt very satisfied.
Even though Belinda kept calling her “Auntie Stephanie” now, she believed that one day Belinda would be willing to call her “Mom.”
Thinking about this, she felt she should warn Maxwell again later,

telling him not to bother her daughter all the time.
Belinda was her daughter, and had nothing to do with Maxwell.
Stephanie drove Belinda home, and then made some delicious food for Belinda.
The two laughed and joked.
And on the other side.
A man tried the tomato and sausage risotto at all the big restaurants in Haraville, but he still didn’t find the taste he remembered.
Maxwell looked at the tomato and sausage risotto in front of him.
Was it his taste buds that went wrong?
Isn’t all rice just the same taste?
Even if it wasn’t done by the same person, it wouldn’t look that different.
Finally, Maxwell put down his utensils.
He felt a bit weird lately.
He probably should have seen a doctor.

Time flew by.
The 28th day of the cooling–off period just went by like that.
Day 29, it was still a calm but busy day.
By the time Stephanie came back from the practice room on the night

of day 29, she was already exhausted and it was really late.
When she finished her shower and checked the time, it was just past 0 o’clock.
It was already the early morning of the 30th day. In 24 hours, her divorce cooling–off period with Maxwell would be over.
I didn’t know how the day would go, just hoped I could get through it safely.
Stephanie thought, she looked down at her phone, and there weren’t any other messages.
Without thinking too much, Stephanie just went to sleep.
And at the same time, on the other side of the city, Roxanne was getting ready to rest.
