Chapter 186
“And as I saw it, she didn’t even bother to fight with Roxanne, she had her own way of doing things.
Garrett patiently guided and said:
“Jeremiah, so right now you’re her friend, but what if she was your enemy? Would you be scared?”
“At the last charity dinner, everything she did was amazing, and this time it was the same. That wasn’t a coincidence, it was her skill.”
“She could handle all this on her own just fine, so why would she choose you?”
Jeremiah didn’t expect his grandpa to ask these things.
To be honest, he never thought about these things.
It seemed natural, Stephanie just picked him, and then the two of them fought side by side.
Maybe
“Grandpa…” Jeremiah thought, and finally said, because before she used a fake name to sell songs to me? And since we’re friends, and there happened to be this show?”
Garrett got so mad he grabbed the cane nearby and knocked Jeremiah on the head with it.
“Grandpa! That really hurt!” Jeremiah cried out, feeling wronged.
Garrett was speechless and said, “What’s up with selling songs under a fake name?”
Chapter186
Jeremiah talked about how he felt bad when Stephanie left the scene before, and then he made up an alias called Daphne to sell songs for
her.
“Actually, it didn’t make much money.” Jeremiah muttered. “Back then, she was Maxwell’s wife. Maxwell was generous to her, so it shouldn’t have been just some small change.”
Garrett rolled his eyes at Jeremiah.
“I just thought you got a bit smarter, but now it seems you didn’t.”
Garrett looked at the unconvinced Jeremiah and said, “I think I know the reason, she’s sentimental.”
Seemed like he thought of something, Garrett said, “She’d been working with Maxwell for years, maybe it’s because she’s loyal.”
“Such a pity…” Garrett shook his head.
“What’s there to feel sorry about?” Jeremiah said. “Isn’t it pretty good?”
Garrett just gave Jeremiah a long look and didn’t answer.
“I think I figured out one of your strengths,” Garrett changed the subject, “honesty.”
You meant to say he was dumb…
Just say whatever you had to say.
Mainly, he just couldn’t stand even a little because of his bad temper.
But lately he already started to get sneaky!
Hehe.
“Tomorrow morning at 7, all the investors‘ reps will come over here..

Chapter196
We’ll see what you do then.” Garrett said this and went to bed.
“No, Grandpa, did I pass or not?” Jeremiah shouted.
Garrett didn’t even want to talk to him.
You could still talk like this if you didn’t pass?

Stephanie woke up right on time.
Because of lack of sleep, her head was still a bit fuzzy, and she could only barely control her body to go wash up.
Washed up, got ready, changed clothes, Stephanie did all that fast, grabbed a coffee and drove to pick up Belinda for school.
While waiting for the traffic light, Stephanie checked her phone for messages.
It was already 7:30 in the morning. She checked the messages in the group.
Because the others went to sleep, and I didn’t know what was going on with Jeremiah, there was only last night’s message left-“I took care of Grandpa.”
Thinking about it. Stephanie wondered if the 7 a.m. meeting was still going on.
Jeremiah talked to them about what Garrett said last night.
A
Stephanie figured it out right away, setting it for the next day meant Garrett was worried his grandson couldn’t handle it in a short time, so he gave him a night as a buffer.
Chapter186
Set it for 7 o’clock, also to give an answer before all the big investors‘ companies officially started work.
I picked a kind of in–between time.
Just as I was thinking, Jeremiah’s message came in.
“It’s solved.”
Before Stephanie replied, Jeremiah sent another message.
“Just… didn’t use that reason.”
Stephanie frowned a little, what’s going on?
She texted Jeremiah, asked Can we talk?
Jeremiah called right after he got it.
Stephanie put on her headphones.
“Jeri, what was going on?” Stephanie asked curiously,
Was it that the people from the management side didn’t buy that reason?
Then what other ways did Jeremiah use to force things down?
So, what would the solution be?
Stephanie couldn’t figure it out.
“It’s hard to explain in just a sentence or two, the investors were still with me. I had to calm them down, let’s meet at our company later.”
Jeremiah called in a hurry, then hung up just as quickly.
It left Stephanie totally confused.
Just then, the red light ahead turned green, and Stephanie started the
car.
The car got on the road steadily, and Stephanie told herself not to overthink and to take Belinda to kindergarten first.
