Chapter 108
Recently, Stephanie just started to become a bit more sensible. Even when she was sulking, she didn’t make a fuss anymore. That was good.
The music from the car next to me had stopped, the red light in front had turned green, and the Bentley started up again, driving off in another direction.
And on the overpass, Stephanie was driving too, heading in the opposite direction from Maxwell.
The two people were driving in two different directions in the city.
Finally, Stephanie went back to the parking lot of the apartment she rented.
Parked the car and turned off the engine, Stephanie grabbed her bag from the back, then, out of habit, reached into the littlever next to her and swept her hand around to check if she’d left anything behind.
I thought there wouldn’t be anything. but she actually felt a small bag.
With a slight frown. Stephanie took out the little bag.
She had just opened the bag when her hand paused for a second.
Lying quietly in the bag was her medicine.
It was medicine I got from seeing a therapist before.
At that time, her kid was still there.
Back then, she still didn’t understand how important having a kid was, and was thinking, after getting rid of the baby, she’d start taking

medicine.
But later, the baby was gone, she stayed in the hospital, the car was being fixed, and the medicine just stayed in this little drawer. It didn’t. show up in front of her again until now.
Stephanie hesitated a bit, then finally reached out again and took out a box of medicine.
She wanted to open the package, but it felt like she suddenly lost all her strength and just couldn’t tear it open.
Tears dripped onto the medicine box, and the pain that came late overwhelmed her.
It had been 10 days since she lost her child. That day, when she woke up in the hospital and found out the child was gone, she just fell into a kind of numbness. She didn’t want to think about anything, didn’t feel anything, no happiness, no sadness.
Until this moment, these meds finally felt like a sharp sword, piercing through that numb shell and bringing her back to this world that made her sad.
Tears soaked the medicine box.
This was the first time she cried in all these days.
She was so sad.
After Maxwell took Roxanne home, he wandered around the city alone.
Looking at the street outside, he felt complicated.
Dim streetlights, endless stream of cars.

The thousands of lights in this city seemed like they didn’t belong to
him.
“Buzz buzz…”
His phone buzzed.
Maxwell turned on his phone and saw it was a call from his friend.
“What is it?” He answered the phone.
“Out for drinks?” Wesley Casey’s voice came from the phone. “I’m at Pulse Nightclub, wanna come over? Or are you with your girl?”
Wesley was Maxwell’s friend for many years, you could say they grew up together.
So at that moment, he didn’t really hesitate and told the driver to turn around up ahead.
“Okay,” he said.
Bentley drove all the way to Pulse Nightclub, which was the biggest club in Haraville.
He made his way through the noisy crowd, and finally, Maxwell arrived at Wesley’s private room.
As soon as he came in. he frowned a little.
There were quite a few guys and girls inside. and Wesley didn’t know what got into him today, making so many people come over to keep him company.
“Maxwell, you’re here!” Wesley saw him and went right in for a hug.
Maxwell was helpless and walked in with him.
C
“Let me introduce everyone, this is my childhood friend, now the president of the Humphrey Group, Maxwell! Applause!” Wesley was obviously a bit drunk.
And the place started to get noisy too.
Maxwell was really famous in Haraville, and right now everyone inside looked at him with bright eyes.
He just felt it was noisy.
So he waved his hand and told some unrelated people to leave first.
Wesley didn’t get mad, just smiled and went along with him, letting those people leave.
The two sat on the couch, and Wesley poured him a drink.
Under the dim light. Maxwell picked up his drink and took a sip.
“How have you been lately?” Wesley asked.
Maxwell didn’t answer right away, he leaned back in the shadows, and Wesley couldn’t see his face.
After a long time, he said, “What about you, what’s going on?”
Wesley smiled, wiped his eyes, and took another sip of his drink.
“Not bad, just had a lot going on at home lately, some stuff I needed to deal with. Also, that dumb woman Maria Byrd actually broke up with me, said I was too much of a player and didn’t want me anymore.”
