Chapter 96
“Good to have you here, Mr. Brooks!” Doctor Maximiliano Lane said to Weston who was sitting across from him.
“No biggie,” Weston shrugged.
All hot in his fitted shirt, well-tailored pants on sleek black shoes, Weston was sitting in Doctor Lane's polished office. In one glance, he appraised the four corners of the office. His center-parted curly shoulder-length hair was framing his face. His hands were placed on his huge thighs. He'd received a text message from the doctor, seeking his consent for something crucial…and here he was. Random imaginations were floating in his head, and he just couldn't stop wondering what he was here for.
He glanced at his designer wristwatch and shot a gaze at Max. “I just hope whatever I'm here for happens at the drop of a hat 'cause I gotta beat the clock.”
“Sure,” Doctor Maximiliano Lane nodded. “Would be as snappy as possible.” Placing both lower arms on the table of piled-up papers, he locked his fingers together, inwardly calculating his words. He blew out quietly, studying Weston intensely. He was so made and polished. There's no doubt Weston is every woman's dream. So hot, charming, and…seductive.
He shouldn't inform Weston about what Elodre had said, should he? Doctor Maximiliano wondered. His head has begun to ache drastically. If not, how would he go about giving Weston a valid reason for wanting to carry out a DNA test? Damn! He heaved a quiet sigh feeling exhausted already. His hands were getting clammy.
And Weston's glittery ice-blue eyes were fixed on him, reading his expression, and raising a brow already.
Softly, Maximiliano cleared his throat and said, “I'm so sorry to…say this…but I hafta.” He adjusted on his chair, leaning forward. “Mr. Brooks, I'm so glad you are in Canada at this critical time, you know. It's… it's such an unimaginable coincidence…cause it surely would've been more complicated…”
So? Where's the talk directing? Weston wondered. He swears he knows. He fuckin knows! “DNA. Isn't it?”
And Max almost fell off his chair. Eyes wide, he gasped in astonishment. The whole world has just been snatched by Weston?! Damn! How did he know that?! He never expected that!
A smile tugged one side of Weston's lips as he gazed into Max's brown eyes. “I couldn't just watch you beat about the bush.” Leaning forward, he placed both elbows on the table. “Elodre is my sister-in-law and I know she's told you oodles of things, doctor Maximiliano. I know.”
“Y…yes, she did,” Doctor Maximiliano said hesitantly. “But not with malice. I recorded it. Do you mind if I…”
“You don't hafta,” Weston said and the pain of losing his baby, Jigyasa crammed into his head. He can't get over her. Never! Elodre ruined his relationship!
“I believe you're an understanding person, Mr. Brooks,” Doctor Maximiliano said. “You know…I was kinda afraid you'd get mad though.”
“You don't fuckin know the half of it,” Weston said, his eyes glowing fiercely.
Of course! Maximiliano thought. He can imagine though. “For all it's worth, it's best to run a DNA test, Mr. Brooks…”
And Weston's brows furrowed.
