Chapter 97

“Please,” Doctor Maximiliano said. “S…so you'd know what to do next.”

Blowing out heavily, Weston looked in another direction.

“Your sister-in-law could probably be wrong.” Doctor Maximiliano Lane said.

And Weston shot a gaze at him. Lane could be right. What if Elodre was wrong? Damn! He leaned back in his chair, all lost in thoughts. Yet the DNA…

God knows he never had any bad intentions that night. God knows…

Damn! Fuckin damnit!

He disheveled his hair with his fingers. The world seemed to be revolving in his head. Everything seemed to spin. Had he touched her that night? Cause why did she get pregnant?! Hell! That's even worse! The pregnancy! The chances of being Raiden's dad were high.

Gazing at Weston, Doctor Maximiliano couldn't help but read the agitation on his face. Uneasiness was written all over him. “I…I've been in a similar situation…even much worse than this. However, I…actually made a huge mistake.” He shrugged.

“Your case could be different,” Doctor Maximiliano continued. “Even though I was at fault in my case I felt quite relieved after the DNA.” He contemplated briefly. “If it happens the kid is yours…you've no alternative other than accepting him. He's such a sweetheart.”

Weston was gazing directly into Max's eyes.

“And I must say,” Maximiliano said with a slight smile. “Raiden is your replica.”

Exactly! Weston thought. Cayden had said the same. “Which says it all.”

“Nah,” The doctor chuckled softly and shook his head. “I strongly disagree. I dunno what your brother looks like…so…you know…I can't jump to a conclusion yet.”

Weston heaved a sigh and stretched one leg, his shoe pushing against the table.

“I know it's hard bro,” Maximiliano said. “Yet you gotta give it a try.”

Looking away from him, Weston stared blankly into space in ponder. He blew out heavily and gazed at Maximiliano. “So what do you want from me?”

“Your hair should do,” Doctor Maximiliano said.

“My what?!” Weston raised a brow, leaning forward.

“Hair strand,” Maximiliano stifled a laugh. “Not your whole hair, Mr. Brooks.”

“Damn you, Lane,” Weston sighed, leaning back in his chair. Even while combing his hair not a single stand plucked. It's just so fuckin crazy that he's gotta do this. Damn! He exhaled.

“Alright, go ahead,” Weston said.

******

In a couple of minutes, Weston went over to see Elodre but she was asleep. She was so helpless having cannulas inserted all over her.

His glittery gaze fixed on her puffy eyes, he walked over to the bed on which she lay. He gently took one of her cannula-infested hands in his. She lay, looking so tender and pale in her white gown. He just can't imagine Cayden kicking her out. Oh, damn! He wished this never happened. He wished…he’d not put pills in that drink…he wished she never got pregnant afterward.

“Oh, I'm so sorry, Elodre,” He muttered. “Sorry, you hafta go through this…alone…”
