Chapter 62
Immediately Rhiannon returned to her room, she called Octavius.
“Missed me?” the man said immediately after the call was connected.
Rhiannon rolled her eyes as she wondered how the man was still in the mood of flirting even when he was far away from her.
“Who missed you? You are dreaming when you haven’t even gone to sleep,” Rhiannon retorted angrily making Octavius chuckle.
“Why are you calling me? Shouldn’t you be asleep?” Octavius asked as he was afraid that the latter would hang up the call if he continued teasing her.
“No, there are some things I was working out with Aunty,” Rhiannon replied causing Octavius to remain silent as he remembered her words during the day.
“Then why are you calling me? Is there anything you want from me?”
“Is your family in the perfume industry?” she asked.
Octavius on the other side frowned when he heard her question as he couldn’t understand the reason he was asking that.
“Yes. But my sister is the one managing that sector. Although I am the head of the family and the company’s CEO, I am not very familiar with perfuming making like my sister thus who has been managing it. However, after you come back here, she will hand it over to you as you are the house mistress while she is already married. Her husband’s family expects her to concentrate on their businesses and help her husband,” Octavius explained.
“What! Does that mean that I will also be managing some?” Rhiannon asked in disbelief.
Octavius chuckled at that.
“Well, not all. I will be managing the industries you can’t while you help me in managing some. You can opt to employ someone then be just checking them,” Octavius told her as he knew what she was mostly worried about.
“Anyways, why are you asking that question?” he asked.
“Which companies are the top in perfumery?” Rhiannon asked him instead of answering his question making his eyes darken but he didn’t say anything.
“Why do you reply to my question with a question?” he asked with displeasure. “Our company ranks the first while our opposition ranks second. There is a company named Ruven which is in your city, it is the third and a dark horse. Now that we are talking about that, why don’t you find two perfumers, my sister has been trying to poach them but she has never succeeded. They are sisters, Raven and Ruby, we believe with them on our side, we might reach the top five internationally,” Octavius said shocking Rhiannon.
“What! I am not working for your company!” Rhiannon said angrily as she couldn’t his guts.
“Can’t you help your husband? You are currently free and you know a lot of people there than us,” Octavius asked with a frown.
“Do you think that it's easy to poach my people?” Rhiannon asked causing Octavius to be shocked.
“What do you mean by your people?” he asked as he couldn’t understand what she was trying to say.
“What you just heard! Raven and Ruby are my aunty’s daughters! I want to talk to you about this and many more. I will be meeting with the other companies, the company that ranks 5, 8, and 10 respectively in the perfumery industry. I want you to accompany me,” Rhiannon said what she wanted directly as she felt that they were wasting a lot of time.
“Why? Rhiannon, can you please tell me everything?” Octavius asked.
“No! I can’t tell you on the phone. You will have to come here tomorrow and I will explain everything before we go,” Rhiannon said as she shook her head.
“It’s currently 8:30 pm, wait for me, I will be there in two hours so that we can talk,” Octavius said and hung up the call as he knew that she would try to stop him.
Rhiannon glanced at the phone and didn’t know whether to cry or laugh at everything. However, she felt that things were now simpler if her husband’s company was the one ranked first but when she recalled Octavius saying top 5 and not 3 internationally, she felt that they needed to pull their socks.
She took the documents her aunt had given her so that she could familiarize herself with her mother’s legacy.
Since they were her mother’s apprentice and they had vows their life to her mother, none of their companies and the CEOs entered any organization in fear that they would be ruled and they didn’t want that.
Looking at all the company's names, Rhiannon felt a headache.
She didn’t want to tell Octavius the truth but after coming to her aunt’s place, she changed her mind as she knew she needed guidance and help. Even though she could trust the apprentices and make them work for her fully, she wanted to always know what was happening and take over those companies and then make them one.
After thinking of the people close to her, she chose to trust her husband as one, she knew that the latter was already suspicious of her mother’s identity and seemed that he knew her. Two, they were both bonded for life.
Time flew and before knowing it, two hours had passed.
Her phone started ringing and she picked up the call.
“Hello,” she said without glancing at who was calling as she was so immersed in reading.
“I am outside the mansion. Come out,” Octavius said making Rhiannon dumbfounded as she had not thought that he was serious.
She wore her sandals and walked out of her room with her phone in her hand.
She walked hurriedly downstairs and opened the front door.
She saw guards and three vehicles at the gate.
After telling the guards to open the door, the vehicles got in.
“Let’s go in the house,” Rhiannon said when Octavius rolled down the car’s window.
“Will your aunt allow me to go in?” He asked cautiously.
“They are all asleep. Let’s go,” she said as she opened the door for him causing him to chuckle in amusement.
“I didn’t think that you have missed me that much,” Octavius said causing Rhiannon’s face flush in embarrassment.
“If you don’t want to come then fine! I am going back,” she said angrily as she started walking towards the house.
Octavius stared at her departing figure and sighed before walking to her hurriedly.
When they walked in the house, they closed in softly so as not to wake the others but when they arrived at the living room, they were shocked when they met Melda and her husband seated on the couch staring at them.
“Aunt, are you not asleep yet?” Rhiannon asked as she bit her lower lip.
Melda was shocked when she saw Octavius and didn’t hear Rhiannon’s question.
After waiting for her answer but didn’t get it, Rhiannon frowned and stared at her aunt only to find her staring at Octavius. When she looked at Octavius, he was also staring at her.
“Aunt Melda?” Octavius asked in disbelief.
“Octavius, you have grown up!” Melda said after hearing Octavius.
“You aren’t dead? Everyone thinks that you are dead,” Octavius said with a frown making Melda chuckle.
“Well, I was working for your mother’s company but I was recommended by my master,” Melda said.
“Celestine Sanders,” Octavius said then averted his gaze from Melda and looked at Rhiannon who had a shocked expression.
“What, you thought that I wouldn’t know the truth?” Octavius asked her with a smirk.
“How?” Rhiannon asked in a whisper as she couldn’t believe that he knew the truth despite her efforts to hide it.
“The necklace, it was familiar, and remembered that I saw it on my mother’s friend. She was the daughter of the Sanders family which is the third prominent and richest family. When you told me that mom’s name is Sabrina Sanders, I had my doubts and went to the city to verify everything,” Octavius said as he didn’t think there was a need to hide what he had done.
“Father has a photo of him, his mother, and their friends. Celestine was wearing that necklace in the photo so I knew that you were lying to me,” Octavius said in a serious tone making Rhiannon lower her head out of guilt.
“Now the presence of Aunt Melda also verifies it. If you were thinking of denying my first explanation then this also verifies,” Octavius added.
“You don’t trust me that’s why you lied to me!” he said coldly as he stared at her.
His eyes were full of sadness.
“I am sorry. Mom told me not to tell anyone as they were people after her and I could risk my life in the process. Also, many people in this city know her as Sabrina Sanders, we have been using that name for so long that I almost forgot her name till the day you asked me. But I wanted to tell you and that’s why I told you that you needed to be here for what I was going to tell you.,” Rhiannon said as she looked at him in worry.
“I am sorry,” she said.
Octavius' expression softened when he saw her big blue watery eyes looking at him like she would start crying anytime. Well, he was right as she was about to cry.
“I am not an enemy! My mom and your mom were good friends so you can trust me!” Octavius said surprising Rhiannon as she had not expected such a thing.
She looked at her aunt and saw her nodding her head.
“Yes, do you remember I told you that I went for an attachment and internship in your mother’s friend’s company? That friend is his mother. That’s how I got to know him when he was a little boy,” Melda said as she chuckled.
“Well, I can see that you managed to learn the cold expression and seem distant,” Melda said with a chuckle making Octavius' ears turn red.
Seeing this, Rhiannon knew that what her aunt had just said was embarrassing.
“Aunt, what do you mean?” she asked curiously.
“Please don’t tell her!” Octavius said causing Melda to stare at him.
“She is your wife, what’s there to be embarrassed of?” she asked as she laughed.
“He always saw his eldest uncle and aunt with cold expression. He felt that everyone feared them for that so he always stayed staring at them imitating them so that people can fear him and stop calling him cute,” Melda said causing Octavius to lower his head while Rhiannon and her uncle Joel chuckle while they stared at Octavius in amusement.
“Anyways, how is Leilani?” Melda asked with a smile but immediately she said that Octavius turned cold and his aura also changed causing everyone to frown as they couldn’t understand why he had suddenly changed.
“She isn’t my sister but mom’s enemy’s daughter. She and my sister Anabelle were swapped during birth. As for how she is, I don’t know,” Octavius said coldly.
“Sorry,” Melda said even though she had a lot of questions when she heard that.
“Aunt, uncle, we are going to sleep.”
