Chapter 46

“Madam, are we currently going home?” one of the bodyguards asked as he was confused about his madam getting out of the office with a bag so early.

“Madam, please don’t tell me that you have left the company in your father’s hands,” another said seeming stressed with that decision.

Rhiannon halted and raised her eyebrow at the bodyguard as if telling him to continue explaining since she felt that the latter knew something that she didn’t know.

“The young master has always said that for a company to succeed, the owner must be the one managing it for herself. This is because the person whom you have left the company to holds evil intentions,” the bodyguards said causing Rhiannon to nod as she already knew that.

“But that’s my father we are talking about! How can he destroy her daughter’s company? I think that you are mistaken!” she said as she blinked innocently causing the bodyguards to sigh as they felt that their madam was so innocent and that they should always protect her.

“Miss, we discovered that Mr Clark goes through all the documents before they pass to you. What if he changes something or even hides one from you?” the bodyguard said causing Rhiannon to shake her head firmly.

“No. My father can’t do that! He told me that he was going through the documents before I did so that I may not get so tired!” Rhiannon said.

“Madam, you are too naïve and innocent. Why is he doing this? If it isn’t he wants to prove to everyone in the company that you trust him so much to give him even the documents a CEO can’t get in their hands. It is like saying, the president is too lazy to do the paperwork and has given them to me to do it. The president is too lazy that she doesn’t have any work after I go through them,” the other bodyguard said causing Rhiannon to understand what was going on.

At first, she had thought that maybe he was doing this for his wife and daughter till he said that the two were so selfish and didn’t care about him. Even after listening to his explanations, she felt that something was still amiss but she couldn’t pinpoint why she felt that. Now hearing her bodyguards analyze everything, she understood and her eyes darkened as she never expected that she might get replaced or the workers and shareholders be dissatisfied with her just as she continued that everything in the company was running smoothly.

‘Dad! If what they are saying is true then you are making a very big mistake! No one will be able to take what rightfully belongs to me even if it's you!” she said coldly in a low tone and as she released a murderous aura.

“We are going to the prison,” Rhiannon said when the car arrived at the junction of the road going to her house and the station.

The bodyguards glanced at each other their eyes full of curiosity but they didn’t ask anything as they felt they might be invading their young madam’s life and if their young master found out about it, they might be punished or fired. Who would risk that?

The car was silent afterward. Rhiannon was lost in her thoughts as she wondered how she would deal with her father when she went back and also deal with the rumors.

She believed her bodyguards as they were always amongst the employees unlike her.

After a few more minutes, they arrived at the women’s prison.

The car was parked then the bodyguards got out of the car and opened the door for Rhiannon.

“Thank you,” she said before walking into the building.

“Good afternoon, how may we help you today?” one of the police officers at the front desk asked with a serious expression causing Rhiannon to sigh at the difference between prisons, police stations, and offices.

If it were at a company or hotel, the receptionist greets guests with a smile on their faces. At the police station and the hospital, the receptionist greets you with a concerned look but the prison? She sighed once again before getting hold of herself and stopped thinking about that.

“I am here to visit somebody,” she said in a serious tone and expressionless face causing the police officers to be taken aback.

They thought that such a young lady didn’t do to keep that face but now, they had been proved wrong.

Those who were doubting why Rhiannon was there at first, started taking her seriously and paid attention to her every detail.

“Who are you here to see?” the same police officer asked.

“Mrs Clark and Miss Kaylee Clark. I am aware that they are here,” Rhiannon replied.

One of the officers took out a file and started going through it.

“Are you Miss Rhiannon Clark?” she asked as she stared at Rhiannon.

“That might be me I guess but my name is Rhiannon Rodriguez since I am married,” Rhiannon said causing the officer to nod her head in understanding.

The police officer whispered something to the other’s ear before they all turned to look at Rhiannon.

“Mrs Rodrigues, you may wait for a while before we take you to the visiting room,” the officer said.

Just as Rhiannon was about to answer, her phone started ringing interrupting them.

The police officers raised their eyebrows at that while Rhiannon was relatively calm.

She picked her phone out of the bag and received the call as she was also expecting a call.

“Miss Rhiannon, everything is set and I have done what you said,” the warden said causing Rhiannon to nod her head.

“Good,” she said then hung up the call without giving the latter a chance to say anything else.

“Okay, I will be waiting here patiently,” Rhiannon said to the police officers as she pointed at a bench at the corner.

The police officers pursed their lips as if they had never seen a wealthy young lady not minding anything. It was as if she was just a commoner.

Seeing this, they loved her and adored her wishing that every wealthy young lady would be like Miss Rhiannon. They didn’t want to call her Mrs Rodriguez as they felt that she was too old to be called that.

If Rhiannon knew what they were thinking, she would find it amusing and then imagine Octavius' expression when he heard it too.

One of the police officers walked out and went to an inner room while the other took a landline and started calling.

“Miss Rhiannon, do you want to see the mother and daughter at the same time or separately?” she asked and Rhiannon remained silent as she had not thought of that.

“Separately, please. If possible, I would like to see Mrs Clark first,” she replied after giving it some thought and as some ideas hit her.

“Okay,” the policewoman said then continued speaking on the phone.

When the other officer returned, the officer on the call had already finished.

“Miss Rhiannon, this way please,” he said as he gestured with his hands the direction in which Rhiannon should go.

Rhiannon stood up and walked ahead with the officer behind her.

Rhiannon walked into an empty room that only had one table and two chairs at the center. She glanced at the room before walking to the center to sit down.

“Miss, Mrs. Adams will be brought very soon,” the officer said before leaving the room and shutting it.

A few minutes passed before the door was opened.

‘Where are you guys taking me? Who has visited me? Is it my husband?” Mrs Adams's excited voice could be heard from outside causing Rhiannon to smirk as she couldn’t wait for the happiness in the latter’s eyes and face to be wiped out when she saw she was the one here.

The officers escorting her didn’t answer any of Mrs Clark's stupid questions as they felt that she could see for herself instead of asking them what they didn’t know.

The door was about and an officer walking in before the other pushed Mrs Clark instead.

“You better behave yourself. We will be standing outside the door thus we will hear any commotion that could take place,” the officer warned Mrs Clark before getting out and shutting the door.

She had lied to the latter as she knew how the woman loved to cause scenes. Yes, they would stand outside but they won’t hear anything. They will just stare at them through the small window on the door.

“You! What are you doing here?” Mrs Clark asked in disbelief and a little panic as she tried to hide her dirty face.

“Why shouldn’t I be here? Weren’t you the ones who requested my presence?” Rhiannon asked as she raised her eyebrows and her lips were curled up into a mocking smile.

“When did we request that? We just said that we wanted to talk to you not see you!” Mrs Clark shouted.

“Too bad if that is what you thought. You guys never specified whether you wanted to talk to me on the phone or face to face. How can you blame me? Also, I thought that you guys had missed me and that’s why you wanted to speak to me. I had to fulfill your wishes you know,” Rhiannon said as she blinked innocently but her actions made the woman frustrated.

“Aunty, I can see that things here are too hard for you. Your face is all dirty. You now look like an African person as your white face can’t be seen. Is it that the prison lacks water for you to clean your face? If so, kindly tell me so that I can donate a few water tanks,” Rhiannon said with a smirk when she saw the latter’s angry face when she heard her.

“Rhiannon! You better not close the line!” Mrs Clark said angrily her eyes shooting daggers at Rhiannon.

“Why? What have I said to make you mad Aunty? I just asked for your own good but now, it seems that my good intentions aren’t needed here! Maybe I should just leave but you should know that you have wasted my time!” Rhiannon said in a wronged tone but coldly at the last words stunning the woman.

“What! No! You can’t leave here till you get us out of here!” Mrs Adams said in a panicked tone as she regretted losing her control.

“Hahaha. Get you out of here? Are we related in any way? You are just a mere mistress, how can you be related to me?” Rhiannon asked disgust written all over her face.

“You! Am your father’s wife thus I am also your mother!” Mrs Clark said as she was getting agitated once more.

“No! I only have one mother who is always watching over me from up there,” Rhiannon said coldly causing Mrs Clark to jump out of fright but later sat down.

“Rhiannon, you have to get us out of here!” Mrs Clark said in a pleading tone causing Rhiannon to let out a laugh.

“Are you begging me? Aunty, do you remember that when I was young, you always bought things for Kaylee and never bought them for me? But when my aunt brought me clothes, shoes, and toys, you would beat me up when I refused to hand them to Kaylee. I used to beg you to stop beating me but did you? Instead, you always told me it was better if I died like my mother,” Rhiannon said coldly as she remembered her childhood.

She felt like crying but she controlled herself.

Mrs Clark was stunned and what she wanted to say stuck in her core.

“When dad wasn’t present. You would refuse to give me food to eat. I remember I would cry and even beg you for food but what did you and Kaylee do? You would throw the food on the ground and tell me to eat it as if I was a dog. Aunty, do you remember everything? I used to beg but did you ever feel mercy for a small child like me? If not, why should I be merciful and sympathize with a grown-up like you?” Rhiannon said coldly.

Mrs Clark’s mind was blank but she regretted everything. Everything she ever did to Rhiannon.

“I am only here to listen to you. Initially, I thought that you guys wanted to talk to me so that you could tell me where my jewels are but now, it seemed that you guys wanted to waste my time. If you aren’t ready to tell me where my belongings are, then you should be ready to spend more days here. And days might turn to months and months to years. I have the money thus I get to have the final say!” Rhiannon said with a smirk.

“Do you think that your father will allow you to do that? We are his favorite family while you, although you are his daughter, he always treats you like an outsider!” Mrs Clark said piercing Rhiannon’s heart.

She had always wanted to feel her father’s love, care, and protection. She wanted to feel what Kaylee always felt or still feels. What makes her to even be in a worse mood after hearing that is the fact that her father is still plotting against her.

“Well, sorry but I talked to Dad before coming here,” Rhiannon said with a wicked smile.

Mrs Clark panicked and she had a premonition.

“He said that you and your daughter are very selfish. He had begged you to help him but you refused. Thus why should he help you?” Rhiannon said.

Mrs Clark was speechless. She had thought that her husband was just angry at them but would eventually make sure they were realized. She never expected him to be so disappointed in them that he didn’t want to help them at all.

“Now tell me, do you think you can still get out of here if I don’t say so? As I said, all you need to do is tell me why my family’s heirloom is!” Rhiannon said coldly.

“I don’t know! Kaylee was the one who hid them,” Mrs Clark said as tears threatened to escape but Rhiannon didn’t care about her.

She stood up and walked towards the door.

She gestured to the officer at the door to take her away.

The warden walked in and took Mrs Clark by force since she didn’t want to leave.

“No! Rhiannon, you have to get us out of here! Remember, Kaylee used to be our best friend!” Mrs Clark shouted as she was been escorted away.

Her words made Rhiannon chuckle coldly. “I was blind that time. I thought that if she and I became close, Dad would start loving me and I didn’t mind sharing anything with her but what did she do? I don’t have such a friend!”

“Bring Kaylee.”
