Chapter 46 Make You
Lana’s Point of View
“Am I impressive enough?” Christian asked with a small satisfied grin on his face, and I nodded, completely distracted by the food in front of me to employ logical reasoning.
First, I reached for the chips, and stuffing them in my mouth, a moan exploded from the back of my throat as the flavor melted against my tongue, and I munched on the chips greedily.
My eyes scanned through the table, looking for the next plate I was going to eat from.
I reached for the plate of deep-fried chicken, taking large bites from the different pieces on the plates, food dropping from my mouth as I chewed like a monster.
Christian smirked proudly, leaning back into the chair, his watchful gaze remained on me, satisfied that I was eating, and not caring that I was grabbing the food off plates with my bare hands.
“Slow down, you’re going to choke.” He warned, chuckling softly, but I didn’t care; it’s not every day I get to see so much food that tasted so good. The flavor burst in my tongue, and I moaned loudly and shamelessly.
“You’re enjoying yourself, aren’t you?”
I nodded, reaching for the sausages, and munching greedily on them.
“I hope this food is enough apology for the time I seized your pass.” He suddenly blurted, and I straightened my back, blinking curiously at him. “I realized just how much of a jerk I was to take your cafeteria pass.”
His eyes and voice reflected a deep regret, and in that split moment, he apologized. “I’m sorry.”
I froze for a minute because Christian didn’t strike me as the type of person to apologize; he must be so serious to date me, then.
“Is that the reason you ordered this much food?” I asked curiously in between my chewing. “Are you trying to get me with food?”
“Not necessarily.” He shrugged. “Food is nothing compared to what I have in store for you.”
I blinked back, picking up the glass of water and gulping down on it.
“Now that you’re mine, you will be under my protection, and I will make sure you don’t lack any of these basic things.” He explained, and I felt my heart jump at the sudden declaration.
Now that I’m his.
I never agreed to date him.
“Anything you want will be given to you; it doesn’t matter how rare it is, if that thing is placed at the ends of the world, I will personally source it and bring it to you.”
My heart pounded in my chest, and then I stopped eating. I was about to say something when my phone suddenly started ringing, and my eyes fell to my phone on my lap.
“Noah,” My heart lurched in my chest. “He is calling me.”
I had completely forgotten about the competition, and that I’m not supposed to be here with Christian.“Who the hell is that?” Christian asked curiously, trying to peer into my phone.
“He is my friend,” I cleared my throat as my fingers swiped right, and then I heard Noah’s breathy voice from the other end of the phone.
“Alan, where the hell are you?” He asked curiously. “The competition is over, and we have been looking everywhere for you.”
I bit down on my lips, my eyes flickering back to Christian, who didn’t even flinch. “Um, I-I…”
“Xavier is here as well, and he is pissed you went missing without a word.” He explained quickly, and I felt my heart sink.
Xavier was there with him, and my eyes flickered towards the blue eyes of Christian. My heart leaped in my chest, and once again, since I am away with Christian, it felt like I was doing something wrong.
Like I was cheating on Xavier.
“I’m not at the venue anymore. Can you tell them to stop looking for me?”
“Huh?” Noah asked curiously. “Then where the hell are you? The coordinators are pissed. I bought you some time. If you can get here in ten minutes, then they might let you off the hook.”
My fingers trembled as I reached for my bag.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“They are looking for me.” My fingers trembled as I tried to get out of the seat. He kicked the table.
“Sit your ass down.” Ordering me sternly, I bit on my lip, caught between leaving and sitting down. “Tell them you’re with me.”
“I’m with Christian,” I whispered back into the phone, my entire body trembling. “Christian Blackwood.”
The line went dead silent.
“That motherfucker—did he come to take you—” The words were knocked out of Noah’s voice, and then a much deeper voice filled my ears.
“Alan, where the hell are you?” Xavier barked into the phone, and my breath hitched. Christian stiffened, and he grabbed the phone from my ears; I tried to get it back, but he wouldn’t let me.
“She is with me.” Christian declared, his voice slow and deliberate, and a smirk reached the upper part of his lips. “Tell the coordinators that I borrowed Alan Rowan for a bit, and don’t forget to add my last name, so they know it’s me; else you’re going to get her in trouble.”
Silence. “I’m sure you don’t want that.”
Christian placed the call on speaker; the whole time, my heart was in my throat.
“Bring Alan back here, or I will make sure you’re punished for your recklessness.” Xavier’s voice had a frustrated edge to it. “You have no right to remove him from the competition without following due process.”
“Excuse me, should I take permission from you?” Christian chuckled. “Are you her fucking dad?”
“Christian, I’d advise you not to play with me.”
“I’ll bring her back to the dorm room by noon; until then, you stay out of the way.” Christian winked at me before he ended the phone call abruptly, and then he turned off my phone.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” I yelled, lunging at him, trying to take my phone from him, but he raised it above his head. I jumped, but I was still unable to reach for it. “You can’t just turn off my phone without permission! Those are my fucking friends.”
“Sit your ass down, Lana.” He leaned into my face; his minty breath fanned my face. “Or I will make you.”
