Chapter 155 Where Is Leon?
Chapter 155 Where Is Leon?
Christian’s Point of View
“She hates us. I don’t think she’s ever going to change her mind,” I complained into the phone.
Xavier said nothing in response. All I heard was his slow breath coming through the speaker.
“Look, Christian, you need to get your head in the right place,” Xavier finally said, his voice sharp, but there was an unmistakable urgency beneath it. “Lana probably needs us right now.”
My brows furrowed.
“What happened?”
I sat upright on the couch, suddenly alert.
A frustrated sigh escaped my brother on the other end.
“We’re at the hospital. One of the twins is here. He needs immediate medical attention.”
“What?” I shot to my feet. “Lana’s brother?”
“Yeah, man,” he confirmed with another sigh. “Is Lana still there?”
“No. She already went home.”
My mind immediately began racing as I realized what this could mean.
“You should go to their house and pick her up,” Xavier instructed.
I nodded automatically, forgetting for a second that he wasn’t there to see me.
Before he could end the call, I stopped him.
“Xavier… tell me. Is it bad?”
There was a brief silence.
“Honestly, I don’t know,” he admitted.
That answer did nothing to ease the knot forming in my stomach.
By the time I reached the house, Lana was already outside.
She had wrapped her small body in a thin shawl, but it did little to protect her from the cold. My heart clenched at the sight of her.
She looked completely lost.
Hopeless.
Tears filled her swollen eyes, and her body trembled beneath the shawl as though she could barely hold herself together.
My chest tightened.
Seeing her like that broke something inside me all over again.
The moment she spotted my car, she threw the shawl aside and rushed toward me.
“We need to go!” she cried, her voice trembling with panic.
She made a beeline for the passenger side, but I reached for her before she could get inside.
Maybe it was selfish.
Maybe it was completely wrong.
But I wasn't only worried about her.
Not entirely.
Some part of me had been aching for her too—for her presence, her warmth, the feeling of having her close enough that I could convince myself, even for a moment, that everything was going to be okay.
I just wanted her warmth.
I wrapped my arms around her petite body, and the moment I did, she completely broke down in my arms. A series of heart-wrenching sobs escaped her lips.
“Let’s go. We’re wasting time.” She pounded her fists against my back a few times, but eventually, the fight left her, and she melted into my embrace. “Please… let’s just go.”
I gently palmed the back of her head, rubbing soothing circles along her back.
“It’s okay, Lana,” I murmured against her ear. “It’s okay. Don’t worry. Everything is going to be all right.”
She continued sobbing, her tears soaking through my shirt. I didn't care. Not even a little.
I wanted her to know that she could lean on me. That she could trust me. And more than anything, I wanted her to understand that she didn't have to carry every burden by herself.
“I promise you, this time, you’re not alone,” I assured her.
She said nothing.
She simply cried, and I held her until her sobs gradually softened and her trembling finally began to ease.
“Liam!”
The moment Lana stepped into the waiting room, she broke away from my side and rushed toward one of the twins.
My stomach dropped when I saw him.
His face was a complete mess. Dried blood covered parts of his skin, small cuts were scattered across his face, and his clothes were filthy and disheveled.
Xavier didn't look much better.
He didn't have any blood on his face, but there was already a noticeable swelling at the corner of his left eyebrow.
I hurried toward him.
“Hey, what the fuck happened to you?” I demanded, looking him up and down, trying to make sense of what I was seeing.
He merely shrugged.
Something told me he didn't want to explain—not with Lana standing nearby.
“Thank God, you’re okay,” Lana whispered as she pulled Liam into a tight hug, tears spilling freely from her eyes.
After a moment, she pulled back, her head whipping around as panic returned to her expression.
Her gaze searched the waiting room frantically before settling back on Xavier.
“Where is Leon?”
“Um… Lana, can I talk to you for a moment?”
Xavier stepped forward, gently moving me aside as he approached her.
