Chapter 154 Wait For Christian
Chapter 154 Wait For Christian
Lana’s Point of View
Christian was getting dangerously close to getting inside my head. I was barely managing to resist him, especially when his pleading sounded so genuine. If I hadn’t heard those words directly from his own father, I might have actually believed that they had nothing to do with the incident.
I could never forget how completely helpless I had felt in Robert Blackwood’s presence. For a man whose entire career had been dedicated to educating children, I never expected him to be so ruthless when it came to dealing with me.
By the time I got home, Father was in the living room, watching sports—or at least, he had been. He had fallen asleep in front of the television, and apparently, no one had bothered to wake him or take him to bed.
My brows drew together as I stood there. Other than the low sound of the television, the entire house was silent.
It was strangely quiet.
I didn’t want to call out my brothers’ names and risk waking Father, so I quietly made my way upstairs. I checked their rooms one after another, but neither of them was there.
“Leon…” I murmured as I pushed open the door to his room.
My eyes immediately landed on a photograph sitting beside his bed. It was a picture of him and Mom on the day of his bicycle race, back when he was only eight years old.
A small sigh escaped me.
There was no way he could have forgotten about Mom, even after all these years. None of us could. Losing her had left a wound in our family that I was certain we would carry for the rest of our lives.
My gaze shifted toward the bedside clock, and my eyes narrowed.
It was almost ten p.m.
My brothers never stayed at college that late. A sudden uneasiness settled over me as I searched for my phone, a million possibilities racing through my mind.
What if they were involved in something illegal again?
I knew they were old enough to take care of themselves, but that didn’t stop the heaviness from settling in my chest. The last thing I wanted was for either of them to get involved in something that could put the entire family in trouble.
I sat down on Leon’s bed and called his number.
My body ached, exhaustion weighing heavily on me. All I wanted was to close my eyes and sleep, but I couldn’t bring myself to relax until I knew where my brothers were.
“Leon, where the fuck is your phone?” I muttered, staring at the screen before letting myself sink deeper into his bed.
My eyelids grew heavier.
Sleep was already creeping in at the edges of my consciousness, but the uneasiness in my chest refused to disappear.
Since Leon wasn’t answering his phone, I called his brother instead—Liam.
My fingers hovered anxiously over the screen as the phone rang.
Pick up. Please, pick up.
What the hell could be so important that they were both ignoring my calls?
The line suddenly went dead.
I immediately called again.
It was fucking ten at night. The world was dangerous, and my brothers were out there somewhere. They could get robbed, assaulted, or dragged into something far worse. I couldn’t just sit here and pretend everything was fine.
The call finally connected.
I shot to my feet.
“You fucking little devil, where the hell did you leave your phone?” I yelled before the person on the other end could say a word. “And where the fuck is Liam?”
“Lana.”
My heart stopped.
That voice was older. Deeper. My eyes narrowed as recognition settled in.
It wasn’t Liam.
It was fucking Xavier, anger immediately tightened every muscle in my body.
What the hell was he doing with my brother’s phone?
Had he fucking kidnapped them?
Because if he had, I swore I would destroy him.
They could do anything they wanted to me. They could hurt me, humiliate me, drag my name through the mud, and ruin my life in front of the entire world.
But my siblings?
That was where I drew the line.
“What the hell are you doing with my brother’s phone?” I snapped, not even giving him a chance to explain. “Where is Liam?”
“He’s here—”
“Give him the phone!” I cut him off immediately.
“I need you to calm down and listen to me, Lana.”
My brows pulled together.
Something in his voice made my anger falter.
There was something wrong.
I forced myself to take a breath and waited for him to continue.
“Liam isn’t in any condition to talk to you right now.”
My heart lurched.
That was all I needed to hear.
A violent thudding began inside my chest, my heartbeat so loud I could barely hear anything else.
God, no. Please.
“Is he all right?” I whispered.
“Where are you?” Xavier asked, his voice laced with curiosity.
My eyes darted around the room.
“I-I’m in Leon’s room… I mean—” I squeezed my eyes shut and dragged in another shaky breath. “I’m at home. I just got home.”
“I’ll send Christian to pick you up. Please, stay there.”
“Just tell me where you are and what the hell is happening!” I shouted he line went quiet again.
My chest tightened as panic clawed its way back up my throat.
“Please, Xavier,” I begged, my voice trembling. “Just tell me. Where are my brothers?”
“Calm down. They’re both fine,” Xavier assured me, but it was too late. My mind had already begun filling in every horrifying possibility. “Please, just stay calm. Christian will be with you soon.”
