Chapter 71 LOST FOR GOOD
CHAPTER 71

LANA'S POV

LOST FOR GOOD

The Mayor's office smells like polished wood. It exudes power, masculinity and strength. Like a place where men pretend to be clean. I came here because he requested to see me.

I sat across Jeremy's father, crossed my leg slowly in a ladylike manner. I knew he was embarrassed by the video, but I'm going to play that card. It is not me. The girl in the video has blemishes but, I have flawless skin.

He wasn't looking at me like before. He was staring at his tablet like it's more important than me. And I'm very sure it's because of that tape.

“Sir,” I began softly. “I am not that girl in the video. She…..”

He raised his hand at me, sharp, tired and disgusted.

“Lana,” he says. “I'm trying to combat this scandal with everything in my power.” he finally looks at me. “Don't insult my intelligence.”

I swallowed hard because his choice of words hurt my feelings. He's embarrassed by me, I rather he hates me than this.

“But the wedding is still on,” he adds coldly, "I'm a businessman by nature. “It has to be for good press.”

I exhaled sharply. “Jeremy, broke up with me. He doesn't want to see me.”

“Well, I don't know.” another tired sigh. “Make him…..”

Make him want me, easy to say. Like I haven't been trying my best.

He stands up dismissing me like trash. “Keep your head high, Lana.” he says without looking at me. “By the very least pretend you deserve to be his wife.”

I'm worthy, I'm good enough for anyone. I clenched my fist until my nails hurt my palm.
And as I walked outside his office, Reed barely paid me any attention. But I took it well like a queen would with my chin up.

I went back to Jeremy's house to see him, I just want to see if we could work this out. Because I can't lose him to anyone. I saw him seated on the couch, his phone in hand.

He lifted up his head and saw me, his eyes there wasn't any warmth in them. It was just empty of any feeling at all.

“Jeremy,”

“No,” he shook his head. “I can't do this, Lana. I'm tired of you, I told you this is over. I don't want you.”

My heart shatters in pain. “Jay, you're just upset. I know people are talking……”

“You used my card to pay that bastard.” His jaw tightened, I could feel his humiliation. “I had to hear the truth from him, it's disgusting.”

The room shifts beneath my feet. This was a blow to me, that bastard ran his stupid mouth.

“He didn't tell you everything,” I hissed. “He didn't tell you he drugged me. He roofied me, besides I didn't do it willingly.”

Jeremy's eyes sharpen on me, he was looking at me without blinking. I just hope he believes me.

“I don't believe you,” he says.

“No, Jeremy. Just listen to me.”

I tried to touch him, but he backed away like my touch was lethal.

“I told you it is over,” he says quietly. “Whatever, we had, it's over now.”

For a while I couldn't breathe properly. He turned away from me, he left me without looking back. I've lost him for good, what am I going to do now?

“Lana,” Richard called out my name. “Hey, look at me.” he said, invading my space.

“What is it?” I asked him sharply.

Richard smirked and exhaled sharply, “Jeremy's a fool.” he murmured. “He's stupid for leaving you.”

I blinked rapidly, searching his face. “It's over and done. He's disgusted by me.”

“He's very angry,” Richard said. “Lana…you're worth fighting for.” he said, grabbing my jaw. “Don't lose hope yet.”

I stepped away from him, because I was getting bad vibes from him. “What do you want me to do?” I asked bluntly.

Richard smirked, his face turned serious. “You can change the narrative. You can blame, Grace.”

“Lana, she posted that clip to ruin you.” he said getting close, grabbing my arm firmly. “She'll keep going at you, unless you fight back.”

I might not like it too much, but he has a point there. I hate Grace very much, and she has to suffer just as much as, I'm suffering right now.

“What if people don't believe me?” I asked him.

Richard gave a humourless laugh. “Girl, they'll.” he muttered. “If you cry first. If you put up a good show, you will just act hurt, frightened and suffering. People will eat that up.”

I stared at him just wondering, why I didn't think of this. “And if Jay, will see it. Maybe he'll forgive me, and come back to me.”

“He'll regret ever breaking up with you,” he added. “But I have one question.”

I nodded and he smirked again, setting me off with that.

“Are you the one on the tape?” he asked me.

I stepped back, looked him in the eye, before responding to his question. “No, that's not me.”

I left and walked to my car, breathing out air I didn't know I was holding.

Minutes later I'm at home, my make up is off. And my phone was angled well, tears streamed down, and they were real tears. I cried, sobbed and my lips trembled as I spoke into my camera. I cried about the sex tape, claiming Grace, did that to ruin my relationship with Jeremy. And I'm so good because I played that part very well.

I edited it very well and posted it on my Instagram page with my 2 million followers. Within an hour it exploded, a lot of people were tearing her apart, and a small part were defending her. But this video got the engagement that I wanted, people were discussing it.

My phone rang and my father's name flashed on the screen.

“Lana, I saw that disgraceful video.” he snapped. “You brought shame to this family.”

“Dad, it's not what you think.”

“I fought hard to take it down.” he barked again. “I'm coming to get you.”

He ended the call abruptly, I exhaled and trembled. I was relieved that that sex tape was out from the internet.

But Jeremy should've seen my counter video, but he didn't call or text me. But I'm still very hopeful. A part of me knows I've lost him for good.
