Chapter 65 WHEN SECRET BITES
CHAPTER 65
LANA'S POV
WHEN SECRET BITES
After I showered and was applying my cream, then my phone buzzed with another message again.
It was from my ex Tony, it's another message threatening me. You better send the money, or I'll really make you famous.
I sighed and cussed him out under my breath. My plan will not go through if he releases that video.
In my panicked state I made a hasty and cold decision. I pulled out Jeremy's credit card, the one he gave me five years ago. I checked the card, it's still not expired and it's still very much valid.
The card was meant for my emergency needs. And I still have the numbers memorized in my head. This was an emergency, and I need to solve it now.
I sent the money across to him, using a cash app. This is only temporary besides I'm not stealing. I'm going to be his wife very soon. What's his is mine anyway.
But I'm dressed and my outfit won't go to waste. My goal today is to find out more about Grace, probably her home address to visit her.
I'll appear kind, waving the white flag and gather information about her, and subtly intimidate her without anyone knowing.
So I drove towards the library in my car, with one mission to see her and intimidate her.
I drove to the town's library hoping to meet her, but I didn't see her. I met the lady from dinner the other day.
“Hi, I'm looking for Grace Bennett.” I said in a clear voice.
She recognised me from dinner the other day. “You're Jeremy's girlfriend.” she said in a calm voice.
“Yes,” I said, nodding in affirmation.
“You're welcome dear,” she tells me. “Grace's not at work today. She called in sick today.”
I covered my mouth, faking concern. “Oh, it's she okay? What's wrong with her? Has she seen the doctor?” I asked if she's smart, she'll know that I'm being fake.
“Oh, my dear. She's fine but she's sick. Are you friends with her?” she asked me.
“No, we are not. But I want to know how well. Can I get her home address please?”
“Oh right, you're such an angel.” she said and scribbled down something on a paper for me.
She adores her like she's some saint. She doesn't look like a nice person. That's very pathetic and disgusting to watch.
“Thanks so much for this.” I said and walked away.
I drove all the way to her trashy house. And I couldn't help but feel disgusted, with all those clustered houses.
I got to her house and I came down, and I knocked on the door while looking at the overgrown lawns.
The girl from the hospital opens the door for me. Casual clothes, messy hair and with an annoyed expression on her face.
“What are you doing here?” she asked without courtesy.
“I want to see Grace Bennett.” I said with a plastered smile.
She blocks the way her eyes upset me. “You're not friends that I know of.” she states.
I tried to push past her politely, because she was pissing me off and I hated her for that. I tried pushing past her less politely, but she still blocked my path.
“Listen, she doesn't want to see you. Get out and get a life.” she said with grit teeth.
I smiled coldly at her with squint eyes. “I wasn't asking what she wanted. I want to see her.” I told her.
When she wasn't paying attention to me, I pushed my way in. Grace looked so small on the couch, curled up, bruised and she couldn't hide from me. She lifted her face to look at me, and I glared at her evenly.
I entered like I was walking on the runway, chin high, perfume rich and my eyes darted across the house like I owned it.
My eyes fell on her again, so this is the girl Jeremy wants to ruin his life for. This bruised, tasteless thing.
“Oh, Grace,” I muttered with false concern. “You look so fragile.”
Grace's fingers tightened on her blanket, but she didn't do anything.
I clasped my hands together, almost angelic. “Jeremy sends his regards. He's worried so much, but we're getting married soon. So please respect our space.”
That's when the other girl, whom I caught her name to be Lily spoke up again.
“Respect your space?” she echoed. “Bitch, how do you manage to breathe with all the plastic in your ribs?”
My brows lifted in amusement. “Oh darling.” I said sweetly. “I admire your loyalty. True what they say there's loyalty, among those who have nothing of value in their lives.”
Lily snorted in annoyance. “You are insufferable. Barbie with issues.”
“Barbie? That's generous of you. I'm very successful living a life, you'll never live even if you die.”
Lily's nostrils flared. “You fake lousy bitch.”
“And you're annoying,” I replied with a serene smile. “I can do this all day, let's know who's winning.”
Lily wanted to say another word, but Grace stopped acting all innocent. “Lily….that's enough.” she said weakly.
I looked at her assessing her, and almost judging her with disgust. “I hope you don't heal, Grace. For everyone's sake.”
I turned my heels applauding me, as I walked out satisfied and victorious.
Lily trembled with rage. And Grace well just stared at the floor, wiping her eyes too broken to fight back. I wonder what happened to her.
And I don't care to know.
As I walked back to my car, with a satisfied smile on my face. My phone rings looking at the screen, I didn't know that number. But I picked it up anyway, it might be important.
It was Richard, Jeremy's younger half brother. I didn't know him before Jeremy, but he seems to watch me closely.
He watched me like he knew something about me. I'm sure he doesn't because I always give my ex money, so he won't upload our sex tape.
“Lana….” he drawls. “We need to meet tonight.” he says like a command.
I hate being told what to do, especially by someone that I'm just meeting.
“Listen up, I'm busy some other time.” I said ready to end the call.
He laughs a wicked knowing laugh. “I'm sure, you will like to see me.” he says again.
I got a notification from my phone, and it's a location. The town's lake who does that. If he pisses me off, I'll very much drown him and no one will know.
