25. Just come, kiss me & bite me? Part 1
How could I have forgotten about it? With so many things going on, I totally forgot that.
“Do you know the reason?”
“To tell you the truth, not sure,” Darcy pouted. “But I think it has to do with you or him. Any of you must be the ones.”
“Can you guys command your power to the point where you can decide who gets hurt or not?” I questioned, intrigued about a hypothesis that was brewing in my mind. “I mean I’ve seen Adonis wield his power at his own will. And both times he has used it without having me frozen on time, and I’ve seen he doesn’t get you in the mess as well.”
Darcy's brows furrowed.
It could be that or I have all this totally wrong.
“Now that you mentioned it, I’ve been wondering all this time why Adonis powers don’t work on you…”
As if something clicked in place, Darcy pushes himself away from his desk and runs out of the room.
I laid my hand against my chest and let my feelings flow. Judging by the anger I’m still feeling, Callisto must be having problems with controlling his emotions.
Minutes passed and there were no signs of Darcy returning. I sighed, and made it back up to my room. Thankfully, everything was as I left it earlier.
Without much of a thought, I headed for a quick shower. Not much after I was done, I heard Hector calling my name from the other side of the door.
“Here,” I called back as I finished wrapping the towel around my head.
“Princesa mia, I’ve been wondering where you’ve been.”
“Is something the matter?” I asked, turning to face him. Hector’s dashing smile was back and this time it was full of warmth.
“Do you want to come to the rooftop?”
“For what?”
“Come along, I think you will like the fresh air,” he smiled.
Surprisingly, he was right. I took a deep breath of fresh air that I much needed.
Being locked inside the building was already catching up on me. This is what I needed and I was grateful for the offer.
I turned to thank him when Adonis, Callisto and Darcy appeared out of nowhere.
My eyes quickly moved to Callisto. He was already turning back to his vampire with his fathomless eyes that made me feel things and a desire I knew he felt as well.
I looked away but was still aware that his eyes were on me. The desire was mutual and I had to clear my throat just so I couldn’t moan.
“You look beautiful.” Darcy’s comment made me look at the group of men who stood in a line in front of me. I instantly blushed.
“Stop lying,” I grumbled. But it was mostly embarrassment.
“He isn’t lying, that blue dress looks beautiful on you. Especially those eyes.”
I cursed feeling my ears burning hot. Hector could be quite the flirt when he wanted.
I shyly looked at the entire group. “Why are you all here?”
Darcy was the first one to smile. His fangs in all their glory as he stood straight with his hands on his back. Mischief played in his eyes, as if he was excited about something, but I had no idea what.
“Remember what you told me earlier in the lab?” he asked. I nodded. “Let’s say we want to test something out.”
“What exactly?”
I didn’t like this; I had this strange feeling.
I took a couple of steps back, preparing myself for whatever they had on those minds.
“Don’t worry, we won’t kill you.” I jerked my eyes at Adonis, who was laughing.
I curled my hands as anger flared inside me. He can be hideous sometimes.
He must have sensed that same anger because he stopped laughing and frowned.
I don’t know if Callisto’s anger was still clouding my mind or if I was really getting mad at them.
“Yophiel,” Callisto called my name. I stopped short, gave him a glance, and saw him for the first time. When he had walked out, I saw him and now he no longer looked human.
He had returned to the pale skin, cold eyes and predatorial look.
“Shall we?” Darcy hissed and a snap echoed in the open place before everything stilled.
It was odd because this time every one of them had frozen in time in weird positions, except for Adonis and me.
How did I know that?
I’m awake and I’m moving and the rest looked like statues, beautiful and lethal.
“What are you doing?” I groaned.
“Don’t fret, Mon Amour. It’s just a test,” he answered before Darcy was moving again with excitement.
“Did it work?” he asked Adonis, who was eyeing me like I was some sort of jewel.
“No.”
“My turn,” Hector clasped his big hands together, rubbing them before moving closer to me.
Again, I’m taking another step back.
Callisto’s gaze flickered between me and Hector. “Enough.” His icy words had Hector grumbling in Spanish.
“Don’t go overboard,” Adonis snarked.
“Don’t worry amigo, I swear this will be quick.” One whisper from him and I blinked.
Hector moves his arm, then whispers again, and again. Strangely enough, I can’t understand what he is doing. Darcy crosses his arms while the rest remain silent, just observing.
“Did you lose your powers?” Adonis questions, to which Hector curses loudly.
“Man, the fuck are you talking about? I notched this to ten and nothing. I just don’t get what’s happening.”
“Interesting.”
I looked at Darcy, who seemed to be enjoying this too much for his own good.
“Try again, and notch that shit,” Adonis hissed.
Not quick to react, Hector moves both arms and the rail behind me dents in an unimaginable way.
I yelp.
The hell!
I don’t make note of what he is really doing until I start to feel a woozy feeling in my head, that has me wobbling to the side.
All four men move, but I jerk my head up and something as shock crossed their faces before they settle back on their spots.
This time, Adonis steps in to stop Hector, who looks confused.
“Callisto.”
I veered my eyes at him as Darcy called him up.
Callisto hesitates, clearly with doubts. I kept my eyes on him and almost managed to call him out but decided not to. I let him do whatever he is going to do.
With eyes as empty and an imposing figure like the first time we met, Callisto smirks and my ears go numb. The sensation struck so hard I crouched, screaming in pain.
His smirk fades and he make a move but I raise my hands. “Don’t fucking come close!”
Callisto has this tormented look on his face as I stand and look at my hands, red with blood. My blood. That’s when I realized they’ve been testing their powers on me.
I fist my hands, anger flaring in me as I stared at the four individuals.
“Yoph—”
“SILENCE!” I snapped. They all took a step back.
Callisto and Darcy are the first to move, but one look and they know its best they remain where they should before I really do snap.
“Not that immune to all of us.”
A single comment from Darcy had me coming back to my senses. Exhaustion quickly pulled at my body, like I would pass out any moment.
I inhale once or twice.
Better to deal with this before I really pass out. When I raise my head again, I find Callisto holding out a hand. I almost went for it but decided this time I would give them a piece of myself.
Irritated, I stood and walked past him without giving Callisto my attention.
“I know you are mad with us, but we just had a breakthrough,” Darcy said, making me stop. I looked over my shoulder. “The reason Seth’s fire doesn’t hurt you or anyone’s here except for Callisto’s is because you have the power to negate our commands.”
“Negate your powers? Are you kidding me? I’m human!” I yelled.
“Are you?” Darcy snarked.
I swear one of these days I will punch him in his damn face and be sure to erase that smile for the rest of his eternal life.
“We could try again. Don’t forget, the strongest of us is Callisto, and by the looks from earlier, he used a lot of his powers,” Adonis remarked, to which they all nodded back.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but just think. If we can’t harm you, then it means you have nothing to fear from Seth. His fire won’t ever hurt you, and that could help with your trauma,” Darcy tried to explain, but right now I wasn’t feeling like understanding.
I was pissed with all of them.
I couldn’t believe they had used me like some kind of lab rat.
“Yophiel, we just want to keep the harmony between us. To help you.”
“And you think this is the best solution? Use me like this? To hurt me?” I threw the words at Callisto, who seemed like I had just slapped him. “If you haven’t realized your powers just hurt me, meaning that out of all of them, you are the one who will kill me.”
None of them spoke back.
I scoffed, not believing this. “It’s always you,” I choked. “It’s always you, Callisto, who hurts me the most.”
With that I turned, not wishing to see their faces anymore.
