Chapter 25: Breathless Words Part 2
I wrapped myself around Callisto, holding him close so he could feel my love. Our legs were tangled and his face was buried in my chest.
After crying our hearts out, he somehow fell asleep. The pounding of his heart reminded me of the small miracle that had happened. That I caused because I carry within me a gene that makes them humans at least for a while.
I squeezed him harder, forgetting he was asleep.
I still couldn’t grasp the idea of what we had just done. Of what I did.
I looked down, Callisto mumbled something but didn’t wake up. I pushed my fingers through the roots of his hair, enjoying how he felt, how he smelled.
“That feels good,” his muffled voice brought me back to my senses.
“Sorry, I woke you up,” I smiled awkwardly.
He pushed onto one of his elbows. “It’s alright, I wanted to see you.” He brushed his fingers across my jaw. “Are you feeling alright?”
“You keep asking that.”
“Well, I have been worried since earlier. Not only did I bite you, but I also made the connection. It could have been dangerous if you were weak. You saw how strong our bond felt.”
I sighed. He was right though, but I honestly felt fine. A bit sore but good.
I felt my face heat up as I remembered how good he felt inside me. Callisto must have felt my emotions because he had this wicked smile on his handsome face.
He rolled us over and pressed tightly onto me. I gasped, his skin warm to the touch.
“Callisto!”
I arched as his hands moved down along the sides of my body. His knees spread my thighs wide as his cock rubs against my pussy.
God, he felt good.
The need to feel him again ignites my entire body. Impatiently, Callisto sucks my nipples to hard points, slickening my pussy with his fingers.
I needed to come. The pressure was exquisite.
“Take me please,” I begged.
Callisto hummed, then with one single thrust his cock drove deep enough he slides me across the sheets.
I cried out loudly and didn’t care who heard me. Callisto growled from deep down in his throat. It was feral and animalistic and I loved it.
Rolling his hips, he grounds me, then moves his hand to work on my clit. Pleasure sizzling up my spine until I moaned his name and climaxed.
He kissed me roughly but didn’t stop. Cupping my ass, he lifts me, angles me up and pushes his length until I couldn’t breathe.
“Yes.” I gasped, churning to make him fit. Callisto continued thrusting rough and fast until I was digging my nails into his arms.
I feel my orgasm build up again when he is coming so hard my legs are left trembling.
Breathless, I looked at him.
Callisto placed one hand next to me and with the other grabbed my leg to kiss my inner thigh. My pussy throbbed. My entire body ached.
He slowly eased out but didn’t let go without one last suck at my pussy. I tensed but then he released me.
“You’re so mean,” I breathed, writhing away from him.
He laughed, before giving me some space. I closed my eyes, tired, but feeling better than ever. When I open my eyes again, I find Callisto staring at me up and down.
I unconsciously reached to cover my body when his hands stopped me. “Don’t hide from me. I want to see you.”
The fact he is saying that says so much about his feelings for me. And though he hadn’t said those three words, I knew he did feel the same way.
He looked me all over again with heavy-lidded eyes. With a chuckle, he bent over and kissed my neck. “I really won’t ever get enough of you.”
My heart fluttered at his words.
“Stop lying,” I said. He raised his head, eyes shining with mischief.
“You think I am lying?” he smiles. I shrugged because I didn’t know what to say. “Phi, nothing and no one will ever make me change how I feel about you. No one. And I will never stop—”
Callisto’s words are cut short as the bedroom door opens and Adonis stands with wide eyes that quickly turn dark.
I sat up, pulling the sheet to cover my body.
“Am I interrupting you guys?” he hissed, taking a sniff of the air.
Callisto remains silent, just staring at him.
“Care if I join?” Adonis smirks. My eyes darted at him. “Mon Amour don’t look at me like that. I am just joking.”
“Sure,” I backed further into the bed.
Adonis chuckles but still doesn’t take his eyes off me. There was a dark desire brewing deeply in them that made my entire body shiver.
I looked away, too aware of the way he was staring.
“Is something the matter?” Callisto finally asked as he stood. He picks up the discarded robe and covers me with his body, then helps me get changed. “It’s too early for you to be awake.”
“Not that early,” Adonis answered. “Seth is back, and Darcy has the results of the weapons from the attack.”
He nodded and moved to grab his own clothes. Callisto stops.
I looked between Callisto and Adonis. That’s when Adonis shifted his eyes and I gulped.
“Don’t worry, I want our first time to be between just us. No interruptions from a second guest,” he smirked.
Callisto turned as he pulled his pants up. “Cut it off, Adonis.”
“Why? It’s the truth. Ah!” he looked between us. “I see the connection is complete, delightful.”
“Relax for the rest of the morning, Yophiel, and come out when you want to. I know you’re tired. I’ll also have someone prepare your breakfast, okay?” Callisto informed me without looking back.
Did he just ignore Adonis?
I nodded, then saw it. There was that cold and distant Callisto who was always on guard, especially when one of the others was around.
I listened to them bicker about me as they moved out of the room. I could see there was both amusement and happiness in both vampires, which surprised me, since the one I could feel was Callisto and not Adonis' emotions.
I laid back down and glared at the white ceiling. A smile stretches on my face at the realization of what I’ve done.
Callisto and I are so close now, that the humming feeling on my chest can’t settle down. It was impatiently reminding me of it.
He might not have said as much as I wanted, but I know it. That doesn’t mean I will pressure him to whisper the words. I won’t.
Wait.
Did I even say the words as well?
I sat back up.
Now that I recalled. I have no recollection of ever saying them. Surely, I did not forget, did I?
Finally, I decided to let it go for now, and headed to the bathroom for a warm bath that my sore body desperately needed. And yet I can’t stop the loud gasp that leaves my mouth as I look at my body in the mirror.
I wasted no time touching the scratches and red hickeys I had all over me. I turned and turned, counting them. I had at least twenty red hickeys and eight scratches all over my body.
Apparently, I was so lost in pleasure I didn’t feel any of them.
It’s embarrassing to even remember.
“Enough Yophiel, it’s not like there will be scars.” I mumbled to myself and turned, but before I got into the tub, I stopped and stared at myself one last time.
I still had my entire body scared. Every nook of it, except for my private parts, a part of my left arm, and my face that had small wrinkling skin mostly on the right side.
I withdrew my hoovering hand that was close to my face. I had to stop thinking about how bad I looked. If things keep going like this, then I would never feel good around any of them.
With a sigh, I turned to tend to the warm bath. The thoughts still didn’t leave, not after I started remembering Adonis' words about wishing for our first time to be just us.
What did he mean by that?
***
The door to the dining room opened and I was welcomed by at least twelve vampires from different bloodlines. I walked over to take a seat, my stomach growling like a tiger full of hunger.
I was about to take a seat when I heard the door opening again. I looked up and saw Seth halting on his tracks.
This was awkward.
“You’re awake,” he whispered, making me just nod back before finally settling down on his seat. “I heard what happened.”
“What is that exactly?” I smiled at the stoic vampire that served me some juice and bread. My mouth watered as I grabbed a bit of everything from the big buffet served only for me.
Seth didn’t respond, which only made things worse when he sat and ignored me for the rest of the breakfast. And it’s obvious he is annoyed or better said angry.
I don’t blame him, but why did he get mad every time I did something with Callisto?
I swear I can’t seem to understand him or Adonis sometimes.
I sighed and wiped my mouth when I looked up and found him already staring back.
“What’s wrong?”
“You did it,” he hissed almost against his will.
It took me a moment to understand what he was referring to until I saw how his eyes moved along my body.
I quickly pulled the short sleeves of the sweater to cover the few scratches and marks.
It seems I chose the wrong clothes today. I should have gone with the long sleeves and turtlenecks, but to be honest, they only reminded me of what he did.
“It’s nothing,” I cleared my throat.
“Did he hurt you?” The question has me frowning.
“Hurt me?” I mumbled. “Do you mean Callisto?”
I mean, I understand why they would be worried, but weren’t they exaggerating a bit? I only had sex. True, he drank my blood but I didn’t faint.
This time, I placed my hands on the table and leaned forward. Fifteen feet of pure glass stood between us, with rows of chairs and food.
He really needed to let loose a little bit, he was always tense, only stressing me out…
“Last time,” I blinked, “you said we had a connection. Can you feel my emotions like Adonis can?”
No way. It did make sense but…
“No, you don’t feel my emotions, you can feel what I feel for others. And that makes you jealous.”
Holy shit!
I stared at him, surprised. I figured our connection, but the smile I had on my face slowly dissipated as I saw the look on his face. Broken, and full of anger.
He stood so abruptly the chair fell hard that it broke. I flinched, surprised by how furious he looked.
Sensing his anger, the vampires who stood on the sides moved to block me. Like shielding me from whatever was happening to Seth.
A shiver ran down my spine as I took a step back. The vampires in front of me took a stance as if ready to attack him.
“You have no idea how that feels,” the words came out strained. “I hate it!”
I turned into a panic as the entire room started to be set on fire. An alarm blared around us, as sprinklers emerged from somewhere. Well, they were more like waterfalls.
I don’t know if they were made this way for a reason, but right now it wasn’t the time to be in awe of them. Seth had set the entire place on fire!
The vampires moved to attack him, but Seth fought back with barely a movement of his hand. A few of the vampires wield weapons, which they would surely use to restrain him.
“Lady Swan.” Two vampires grabbed me and started moving back to the doors that were still closed.
The hot flames reached us as we moved. It was like Seth was preventing me from leaving and it was starting to scare me badly.
I let my emotions flow so Adonis or Callisto could feel them, although with all the commotion going on, they should already be aware something was going on and I was in the middle of it.
I let out a scream as the flames caught on the drapes and walls, scorching everything in their path.
“Open the doors!” I yelled over the rumbling noise of the fire and water.
“They are not opening!” one of the vampires answered as he placed his hand on the screen.
I was about to try, when a loud sound and then a dent in the door had us backing up.
I had no idea what the hell was happening, but the vampires around me pushed me back, arms raised ready to protect me.
That was a sight, but as we stepped back, a loud snarl broke through the noise and I screamed.
Two bodies were incinerated before me as Seth stepped from the flames.
I recoiled away, fearing I would get burned.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to die, but not in this way. I was not about to repeat this suffering again.
“SETH!” I yelled, trying to talk to him.
Bad idea.
Two other vampires moved to fight Seth when the doors finally gave away. Then I heard a single snap and everything stilled, again.
I panted, coughing from the smoke.
“YOPHIEL!” Adonis called over as I waved my hand.
“Here,” I coughed. Darcy and he rushed in.
“Take her out!” Darcy ordered. Adonis did as he asked and carried me out as everything returned to normal.
Adonis placed me down as his hands moved all over my body. I couldn’t stop coughing; it was hard enough to keep myself awake.
I felt someone else move behind Adonis before a loud snarl, then a shattering sound was heard coming from inside the now burned room.
“Callisto!” I heard Darcy yell before someone screamed in pain.
“Yophiel!” Hector appeared next to me with some water and a towel. “Drink some.”
I nodded and did as he asked because I really felt like my throat was on fire. The pain was so great, I started hyperventilating as memories flooded into my head.
I reached for my neck in a panic, clutching it hard as I wheezed.
“She’s having a panic attack!” Hector growls as Adonis picks me up in his arms.
“Where is Callisto?” Adonis asked, turning to look towards the room where smoke in huge amounts came out filling the hallways.
“He must be subduing Seth.”
I coughed when Adonis cuddled me closer to him. He must be feeling the emotions I’m having right now.
I didn’t like it because I knew it troubled him.
“I’m… sorry,” I wheezed as I kept clutching my chest.
“No, no, don’t say that.” Adonis whispered. There was a tremble coming from his voice. It made me feel worse.
There were two more animalistic and horrific growls before someone screamed in pain and then there was silence.
I peeked and saw Hector moving to one of the panels. He was talking but I had no strength to hear. I was losing consciousness and, for fucks sakes, couldn’t I just stop fainting?
***
“I said I’m fine!” I sat in Darcy’s lab with an oxygen mask while he did a quick checkup, which has been annoying since he kept checking and checking and I was perfectly fine.
“No, I will run another test just to be sure.”
My hand tightened around the oxygen mask. He was seriously making me mad although I think it was not my emotions. They had to be Callisto’s.
I gave up fighting and allowed him to run another quick test before my patience reached its limits.
I was thankful, I really was that he was worried for my sake, but what I wanted to know was what happened to Seth. As ridiculous as it might sound right now, I am worried about him.
The swooshing sounds of the doors made me look up. Hector had a sober look on his face that worried me, but once our eyes met, he gave me that dashing and playful smile he always has.
“Are you feeling better?” he asked, caressing my face.
I pulled the mask away. “Yes, so tell Darcy to stop it. I want to get a bath and then some rest.”
Hector chuckled. “It’s for your own good, Yophiel. We need to know everything is alright before letting you do whatever you want.”
I took a deep breath, because why not? I felt on the edge of sending them to hell. Not that it was my intention, but that’s how I felt.
“Callisto said to let him know when you had the results. I will be heading out to help with Seth,” Hector informed him.
“Is he alright?” I asked, making him halt as he turned towards the door. He gave me a long look.
I couldn’t read him at all. He had this death glare that told me he wasn’t happy I was asking for Seth, but I needed to know.
“That’s none of your concern. What Seth did doesn’t need your pity or worries. He had it coming for a while.”
His words infuriated me. Standing up, I yanked the oxygen mask away angrily and marched up to him.
Seriously, I understood why they would be angry, but I’m the victim and I’m not that angry.
Hector’s eyes widened as I strode up to him and poked him in his chest furiously. “That’s none of your concern? I’m the one who was in danger, I was the one about to be caught in his anger and yet here you are, both of you angry at me?
“I’m not even angry. But I am with both of you. So, you better start answering my questions if you don’t wish to hear me curse you both, and you know I don’t joke, Darcy.”
Darcy was frozen in his spot, surprised I just called them out. Well, they had it coming.
Despite being a crier, I felt angry that it was starting to surprise me because this had to be my own feeling with Callistos mirroring each other.
I feel so furious right now that it’s just a little overwhelming.
“Seth is in one of the prisoner’s cages down on the last floor. He is unconscious but he will be fine,” Hector sighed. “Callisto subdued him against his will but nothing seriously happened. I hope that calms your anger.”
I hadn’t realized I was panting.
“Thank you,” I tell him when my throat finally relaxes.
“Anytime,” Hector smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes.
I sat back on the stool when the door opened again and Adonis walked in. There was a huge scratch on his face that seemed fresh.
“What happened to you?” I forgot about the oxygen mask and moved instinctively to him.
He backed away as I reached to touch him. A small visible jerk that had me halting confusedly.
None of the others asked a thing.
“Callisto needs you, let’s go.” Adonis turned to Hector. Was he seriously leaving without addressing me?
I wonder who did that to his face.
“Come sit down. You need to be here at least ten more minutes.”
Considering the entire mess, it was understandable none of them wanted me to know about what was happening, but there was another thing on my mind that kept bothering me since I talked with Seth.
“I have a connection with Seth.” My words tense Darcy, who was next to me drawing some of my blood.
“What did you just say?” His voice was dangerously low. “And when you were planning to tell me?”
I glared at his way. “Right now.” I snapped. “Before everything happened, I found out what our connection was, and I now know why he acts the way he acts towards me.”
Darcy sets the needle aside and fully turns to face me. He had a few black smudges from the earlier fire. Even his hair had some flecks of burnt material, making it look like blond ash.
“Start speaking Yophiel,” he said with that crisp British accent.
I’m not sure what that was, but for a split moment, I felt my heart skip a beat. I reached for my chest. But it’s beating perfectly fine. So it must have been my imagination.
“Seth shares a similar connection to the one I share with Adonis. It’s a one-way connection except, instead of him feeling my feelings, he can sense what I feel for you guys.”
“And that is?” he arched a brow.
I’m not sure how to respond to that, so I choose an easy explanation.
“Adonis can sense when I’m happy, sad, scared or angry. That’s all he feels. While Callisto feels everything, and I feel his emotions as well as a mirror. Now, Seth, he can feel if I’m afraid, excited, or I’m blushing, or happy, things like that, but they are what I feel when I’m with you guys.”
“And what do you feel when I’m with you?” Darcy wickedly smiled. I rolled my eyes.
“Like I want to punch you,” I answered, making him laugh.
I smiled back. How could I not when his laughter was so contagious?
“Okay, okay, my love. Let’s see,” he cleared his throat, then crossed his arms. “Seth can sense how you feel when you’re with Callisto?”
“And why does it have to be him explicitly?”
“Well, you just formed a bond. And your connection is the strongest one. While Adonis can be there to save you, Seth won’t, because if you feel nervous around Callisto, or feel excited being close to him, then that makes him jealous, because when he is close you reflect fear. It’s like shadowing emotions.”
“What’s shadowing emotions?” I asked.
“It’s when a person believes in something and becomes selfish, so he goes around feeling deep down in him that all you give him is hate, fear, disgust, so it turns into resentment, which then turns into guilt for the person because he or she is aware of what they did to deserve that. In this case, your trauma causes him to be hurt but also feel guilty as if he was the one responsible for causing it. Still all that are emotions.”
“But I can’t help it,” I whispered.
Normally I wouldn’t mind too much, but right now I wanted to understand our connection and for that I would need Darcy’s help. Find a way to make Seth and I be comfortable around each other, even if it means I must take baby steps with him.
“I know, and I understand that, but Seth doesn’t. All he is trying to do is force you to like him. So, what you give him is the bad part, not the good one. He senses all the negativity from you, meaning he can sense when you feel the same for others, but in a negative way.”
I sighed.
“Obviously, in this case, you also have to find a hole in the connection.”
“Like what?”
Darcy stared at me for what it felt like minutes before he sighed. “Your trauma.”
My what?
“You want me to get over my trauma?”
“You must if you want to be close to Seth. I’m not saying you must completely give in. But try slowly not to be afraid of him, or have you forgotten?”
I frowned.
“Seth’s fire can’t hurt you.”
