Chapter 52: Ava is a Bad Woman
"..." Ava gritted her teeth, suddenly changing the subject with a cold sneer. "That's my business. Are you jealous, Mr. Thomas?"
Joshua's jaw moved slightly as he let out a low laugh. "You think you're worth my jealousy? You used to be my woman. Now even if I don't want you anymore, no one else is allowed to touch you. Understand?"
Joshua's handsome face took on a frosty expression, his domineering words piercing straight to her heart.
Ava's expression stiffened slightly. She stared at Joshua and said coldly, "You're sick. You need help. I suggest you go see a psychiatrist."
"I'll take your advice." Joshua's thin lips curved up as he reached out with his slender fingers to brush her hair back.
Ava blinked, completely unable to figure out what Joshua was trying to do. This intimate gesture caused gasps from the people around them.
Ava's hand was gripped tightly. She tried to pull it back, but Joshua had no intention of letting go. Instead, he held on even tighter.
"Where are you taking me?" Ava lowered her voice.
Joshua leaned slightly toward Ava, his magnetic, deep voice sounding by her ear. "You'll know when we get there."
Ava's ears turned slightly red.
Everyone's hearts trembled. Joshua's every movement carried a deadly allure.
"...Why is it Dr. Davis again? Why do all the excellent men like Dr. Davis?"
"I wish that handsome guy would pull me into his arms like that. He's so hot, I really like him."
"Why isn't it me? Why isn't it me? Dr. Davis is so lucky."
"But doesn't Dr. Davis kind of look like a bad woman? First Dr. Harvey gently bringing her medicine, now this handsome guy dominantly holding her waist. Dr. Davis is really something."
"Now that you mention it, that does seem true. If that's the case, isn't it shameless? Did you hear? This Dr. Davis seduced her own teacher in college, so she got expelled."
"Who said that? Is there proof? Dr. Davis usually seems cold and low-key. Who knew she was so disgusting behind the scenes?"
"Exactly. But look how beautiful she is. With such a perfect face, would she lack male attention?"
"Right, exactly."
When Ava was dragged by Joshua to the eighteenth floor, she suddenly realized they were clearly heading to Mia's hospital room.
"Joshua, let me go."
Joshua had no intention of listening to her. Ava's strength was no match for his, and she was dragged straight into the room.
When Mia saw Joshua arrive, a gentle smile immediately appeared on her weak face. "Joshua... Ava?"
Ava didn't miss the moment her expression cracked.
Emotions surged in Mia's eyes, but she forcefully suppressed them. They surged again, and she suppressed them again, finally squeezing out a weak, forced smile.
Sitting on the sofa beside the bed were two well-dressed women—one was Ursa and the other was Mia's mother, Katya. Mia's face clearly showed tear stains, her eyes red and slightly swollen, as if she had just been crying.
As soon as Ava arrived, everyone's eyes were on her. The atmosphere was strangely tense. Ava pulled at her lips slightly. The situation looked exactly like a courtroom trial, with her as the defendant!
And those looks they were giving her—Ava almost wondered if she owed them five million dollars.
"Hayden must have been deceived by this woman, talking nonsense." Katya couldn't help but snort coldly. "Ursa, we're good friends. You watched Mia grow up. You know better than anyone what kind of person she is. She went abroad to study medicine to treat Mr. Thomas's heart condition, suffered so much, all so she could save Mr. Thomas one day. Now she's done it, but still has to have this woman steal her credit. Mia is truly unlucky."
As Katya spoke, she pressed her lips together and tears came down. She really looked like she'd suffered a great injustice.
Seeing this, Ursa frowned and comforted her. "Katya, I naturally know that Father was saved by Mia. That can't be faked, and no one can take it away. I naturally won't believe Ava's words either. Hayden is straightforward by nature—he must have been deceived by Ava."
Ava didn't know what this was about and was completely confused. What did they mean she stole credit and Mia was unlucky? What did they mean Hayden was straightforward so he was deceived by her?
Ava frowned slightly.
"Joshua, do you believe me? I did everything I could to save Grandpa. I don't seek credit or recognition, but I can't let Ms. Davis frame me like this. Joshua, I'm human too. I feel wronged too. I just want my name cleared." Mia bit her lip tightly, looking like she had endured to her limit before breaking into tears, evoking sympathy.
"Wait a minute."
Ava couldn't help but raise her hand to interrupt.
"What do you mean I'm framing you?"
